What? No. The drives pictured are supposedly 60GB. I'm guessing they've gone into some early ipods, so they're probably 16, 32, 64gb.

Here's the bbc article:

First off, that article is 6 years old and it even clearly states that they could become that large. That however isn't the case as the largest 1" hard drive in existence is 12gb and production ceased years ago. Regular iPods used 1.8" drives instead of 1". Only the iPod Mini used 1" drives and it capped out at 6gb. I recommended CF cards because they use the same form factor (actually thinner) and can be had up to 128gb if you are indeed looking for something that small.

I have one of these 1" hard drives...

It's pretty darned rugged and dependable too.

It is from the old Seagate 6GB USB External drive thing that came out when 99% of thumb drives were only 256MB.

I've dropped it, left it hanging from the cable for weeks at a time, and generally abused it without repurcussion for several years now and it always works.

Most BIOSes can see it as either an external hard drive or USB stick and it is bootable too. I use it to load RAID drivers when needed.

6 years old... and we're living in the future now.... we should be able to buy these things at rite aid by now! Haha.

Okay, here's CLOSE to what i'm looking for:

Granted it's 1.8 inches, but i'm getting closer. The hunt continues.

What do you really want? 1.8" drives are readily available for sale in both IDE (like the ones you've found) and SATA variants. I'm even running a 1.8" SSD in my laptop.

I linked you to them and you dismissed them. You won't find them anywhere but eBay and they only go to 12gb. How does my first post not answer your original question?

As Blue_Fox has said, Microdrives are a thing of the past. They have been completely replaced by CompactFlash which uses the exact same form-factor, interface, and is even backward compatible with Microdrives on some devices. While Hitachi speculated that a high-capacity Microdrive would be possible, such I think never came to fruition with the growing prevalence of inexpensive high capacity Flash over the past few years.

Do you realize these 1 inch drives were expensive, unreliable and ultra slow?

It's a very good thing that flash replaced them.
