what gaming mouse do you use/love?

had a Razer Lachesis, it died. Used a Logitech MX518, it was okay but I absolutely <3 my Xai (haven't really put much on it yet, but I'll be able to do that next week)
 
I am back to my trusty Microsoft X8. Have a G9x just sitting now, and moved my G7 and G5 to the other machines in the house. Just a great mouse with good tracking, and built with big hands in mind.
 
Love my MX1000. Bought it back in 04-05, and it still holds a great charge. Hadn't used it much in the last 2-3 years, but the first 2-3 years I had it, it was under constant use, and I'm starting to use it again now.
 
Not necessarily a gaming mouse, but I use the Logictech Performance MX wireless mouse.

I just wanted a wireless mouse 'cause the cord of my old mouse kept snagging things on my desk. Overall it is pretty good, but as with all wireless mice it goes "dead" for a split second about once every 3 - 4 hours.

The thing I like about it is the rechargeable battery is AA so it's easy to replace if the original one dies.
 
I use a Microsoft Sidewinder.

Back in the day, I had a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical that I really liked.

At some point, I got a good deal on a Logitech MX1000, thinking that wireless laser mice would be the coolest thing ever. I got annoyed with it after awhile, though. It had a cradle for charging, which was hard to get a good connection in (took a few minutes of wiggling), and if it died I couldn't use my PC for a few hours.

I got a laptop, and wanted a new mouse that was wired so I could just throw it into a bag (the MX1000 had a cradle and a wall wart, so two wires instead of one), and got a Logitech G5.

I really liked the G5, and got like 2.5 years out of it, but then I started having intermittent problems like OP did. It would just randomly stop working. Sometimes for a second or two, sometimes for an hour. Happened in every computer, every USB port.

Finally, it stopped working entirely. Gave a weird Windows error message as soon as you plugged it in.

So, after two disappointing logitech mice, and seeing that my younger brother was still using the hand-me-down MS mouse that I had given him four years earlier, and had used for 2 years before that, I went with the Sidewinder because I wanted something more reliable.

Picked it up for $49.99 free shipping no tax (the Sidewinder original, not one of the newer "X" ones). A few months later, I saw one for $29.99, so I picked up a spare to use with my HTPC or laptop. Been quite happy with them, although to my disappointment the macros don't work in Warcraft 3.

I would imagine it's rather uncomfortable unless you have very large hands. If you want a claw grip mouse, you should look at something like the Logitech G9x instead. The Sidewinder mice are best suited for palm grip.

Most definately. It is a pretty heavy mouse for a claw grip.

How are the logitech drivers? And is there an alternative to the G9/x?

The Logitech drivers are excellent. Alternatives? Off the top of my head, the Alienware TactX, Steelseries Xai, Zowie EC1 or EC2, most Razer mice (although the only one I'd consider is the Deathadder since most of their products use the mediocre Phillips Twin-eye laser sensor).
 
For a claw grip the G9x is great. I found the DeathAdder to be a little big for the claw grip. The Zowie EC1 is very similar to the DeathAdder while the EC2 is smaller.
 
I think I'm going to grab a Zowie EC2. I would also buy a nice mouse pad but my keyboard drawer is way small for a good mouse pad. My next big move should really be to buy a new desk.
 
Reason I ask's cause it looks to be using the Ikari's shape w/ a better sensor.
 
Just picked up the G700 from Best Buy for a decent price I'm still figuring everything out. It has a lot of buttons, one thing I did notice is the weight of it wow going from my G7 to this man there is a weight difference. I'm going to really like this mouse though its very comfortable.
 
Heavier or lighter? I'm a huge fan of the featherweight Ikari for this reason.
 
I recently picked up the Xai and am really, really digging it. Buttons feel good, build quality is high, it tracks superbly, and it's very comfortable despite being ambidextrous. For now it has taken the place of my G700/G500/G5v2/G9/DeathAdder/MX518/etc. but we'll see how long it reigns over the long term. Definitely glad that I waited to catch it on sale because I had always wanted to try one but didn't care for the $90 price tag. I only paid that much for my G700 because it was wireless.
 
I got an ideazon reaper edge and really like it. I noticed ASUS branded a mouse of the exact same shape. Someone at a lan party had it.
 
Every logitech mouse I've owned has been my favorite. M518 -> LX700 -> MX Revolution

I kinda wish I could still use my rechargeable battery from my LX700 in my MX Revo (those 4 month charge times are to die for!) The Performance MX hasn't really wow'd me at all (I'd rather get the MX Revo again), but the G700 on the other hand looks to be something. I don't game all that much, but when it comes to putting simple shortcuts for After Effects or Photoshop in my mouse, I'm all for that.
 
I have an original Razer Copperhead that I've had for years and have always been pleased with it. However, after many years of use the definitive clicking of the buttons is starting to wear down and it may need to be replaced soon.
 
Deathadder was great, but a little narrow in the middle. G9x was wide enough with the widebody grip, but not quite long enough. Finally settled on a Mionix Naos 5000, but the software seems to suck. Feels fantastic though.

Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Been using it since 2004 and honestly can't see myself using anything else, though the new Roccat mice look nice.
