I wonder, what's the best option to go?

Current hardware configuration:
ASUS P6T Deluxe V2, Intel i920, 6GB DDR3, Sapphire 4870 1GB, 750W PSU plus is a bunch of hard drives, all in Antec P180 case. Windows 7 x64. Playing games in 1920x1200. WoW, BFBC2, Civ5 and the likes. Currently no plans to upgrade the screen to higher resolution.

So the choice is 6970 or 6950. Are they going to fit in my case without blocking the HDD cage? Are 6870 or 6850 or even 5870 cheaper alternatives that could provide the same frame rate with my screen resolution and CPU?

The 69xx's are 11.5" long (an over-estimate) so if you can fit that, you can fit the card.

I just capitalized on a 270$ 6950 myself, upgrading my current 4870, and I cannot wait. 24 hours have never felt so LONG.

if length is an issue, 2 - 6870's wouldnt be a bad idea. they should be the same length as your 4870 i think. also with the power connectors on the top edge of the card rather than the end it should take up less length wise than the 4870

thats what im moving too to replace my 4870 on the 25th.
