Hazro HZ30Wi, HZ27Wa & HZ27Wb

it's Eugene - I'm usually [and ONLY supposed to be] looking after the web side of things - grrrrr

Mr Hazro,

Which of the HZ27Wa/b is wide gamut colour? Just the H27Wb, both or neither?
Which would you recommend for web browsing, watching movies and light gaming? The monitor wouldn't be used in a professional capacity- it's main use will be watching movies, but I will probably calibrate it using an Eye 1 Display 2 colorimeter.

the HZ27Wb has a 102% NTSC colour gamut with it's CCFL backlighting. The HZ27Wa uses W-LED and so covers ~68% of the NTSC colour space. some more info and a summary [here as well which might help :)

So, 102% of the NTSC colour space and W-LED means that both models are wide gamut colour? Thanks for this info - It's not on the hazro website news page (nor on the link you gave me).

sorry, no, should have been clearer. 72% NTSC coverage equates to approximately the sRGB colour space and those are displays which are deemed as having a "standard colour gamut". Anything >72% is considered wide gamut, with 92% NTSC and 102% being pretty common nowadays. The HZ27Wb uses wide colour gamut CCFL backlighting and so is wide gamut, covering 102% NTSC colour space. The HZ27Wa is ever so slightly less than the "standard gamut" CCFL backlighting units since this one uses W-LED instead. This covers 68% of the NTSC colour space, but could be considered a standard gamut screen anyway

Just to add - coverage of color spaces is not published by panel vendors. The 68% mentioned above doesn't necessarily mean certain RGB shades won't display as they should because the figure is relative to that one specific panel [overall, its been reported as <70% but there haven't been many complaints about massive color shifts] . I think this is the underlying problem with LED technology at the moment - panel variance/shift is huge [like it was when CCFL IPS panels first came on the scene - samsung PVAs never seemed to have this problem].

For those working exclusively in sRGB, there are very low cost IPS full HD monitors about - we had a factory calibrated model but decided not to launch

Any chance you'll tell us when the pricing for those 27" models is going to be unveiled?

Hey guys as promised - I got the Hazro Duo setup - http://www.hazro.co.uk/duo.html

Fantastic panel - really close to the Dell 3008 that's also on my desk - very impressed with the panel, and overall styling of the monitor is just world class.

Haven't set everything up properly yet - will post back with more pics shortly.

Just wondering if you'll have an option, or plan to have an option to list prices in USD or CAD on your web site, I notice alot of times I see prices in the UK are almost equivalent to the USD prices.

exports to N.America are not subject to VAT so you save 17.5%. Shipping prices have also been discounted. However, the per unit price remains the same for UK/USA and price conversion is done via the CC payment processor [e.g. PayPal]. We don't have any plans on actually listing prices in different currencies.

Im not sure if this has been covered but is the new 24" hazro off the table now or is it still possible for release? i would love a 30 or 27" but i think i really want to go 24" eyefinity.

The 24" has been delayed now until after xmas - we've been overwhelmed with demand for 30" and now 27" - apologies for this

I'm assuming pricing announcement has been delayed? Would be nice to know soon so I can start planning a budget and if a 27" would be right for me.

A tentative price has been announced just today by Mr Hazro for the 27" CCFL model on the forum at overclockers.co.uk (who are the only reseller for UK residents) :

"we are looking at a price of £500~£550 ish [inc. VAT] for the first batch which will be made available just before xmas. Sincere apologies for the delay - we're hoping for a definite price this week with pics going live tomorrow."

£550 minus 17.5% UK VAT (VAT=Value added tax) = 750 CAD or 730 USD before any Canadian/US taxes + shipping. For now, overclockers will only be selling the CCFL model.

Thx for the info Dr. Strange. I'm more interested in the glossy led panel as I prefer that but I'm thinking it will be around the same for each.

The price for LED will be around the same but the lead time will be slightly longer - definitely running into the new year. The CCFL is more of a priority for us at the mo. Any questions: please post

I've been watching this thread for a while. I thought I'd pop in and mention that TFT Central has posted a review of the HZ27Wb:
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hazro_hz27wb.htm

Everything looks great except for the response time compensation (RTC). Is there a chance that the test model he had for the review did not have the RTC activated? I mean, from the photos it would appear as if there was no RTC applied to the image at all.

The sample sent to TFTCentral was a pre-launch model: we will make minor aesthetic changes but the panel + spec is as is.

Ok, thanks for the reply. It is a shame really, because it seems that everything about that monitor would be gamer nirvana if not for the rather unsatisfying RTC test results.

Perhaps Hazro could inquire with the panel supplier about this. Perhaps, on their end of the process, they have somehow not allowed the RTC circuit to do it's proper job. Maybe it's nothing more than an incorrectly written eprom or something like that.

Could you inquire with them about this, or look into it a bit? After all, if you are asking folks to buy this monitor without looking at it in person, we really have to rely on reviews and user forums to guide our purchasing decisions. I would hate to see Hazro's customer base for the 27 inchers be limited to non-gamers merely due to a simple manufacturing software error.

eh USB HUB is not so important......hazro when will you offer 27 in EU beside UK?

hazro when will you offer 27 in EU beside UK?

For non-UK purchases, we'll be offering the 27inch directly via our site. This side of xmas, we are limited to a very small number of units. Feel free to email us to register your interest.

Wow the cost of the 30" on overclockers.co.uk is about £800 but for the Dell U3011 is £1,250

That's not a trivial saving, I honestly have no idea what's going on here, my Dell 3007 WFP-HC on overclockers.co.uk about 3-4 years ago was about £800 since then prices have skyrocketed above £1100-1200 for these 30" panels which is insane. It's nice to see the price back down a bit more reasonable.

But I have to say that price gap is so significant that It worries me, I mean I'm all for panels being bare having no scalers and all the electronics that generally just cause input lag, the 3007 is the same in that regard with a single DL-DVI in, but even still, the price just seems crazy low, enough to make me suspect something is fishy :S

Still the customer reviews on OCUK are all OK so that's something.

Hazro,

I am extremely interested in the HZ27Wa model with WLED backlighting. However, I have a few questions that I was unable to find answers to.

1. Are the back-lighting LEDs edge lit or will they be full coverage LEDs?
2. How much would it add to the cost to incorporate a scaler?
3. How much would it add to the cost to incorporate additional inputs?
4. What type of Display Port is being incorporated (1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3)?

I am currently using an NEC 20WMGX2. I am wanting to upgrade and I absolutely want a glossy IPS panel, no exceptions. This pretty much limits me to the 27" ACD, until I came across the Hazro offerings being previewed over at TFTCentral. I use my NEC primarily for Gaming, Web Browsing and watching Movies, in that order. It would be nice to have a few more inputs and a built in scaler to run a PC, Xbox and/or PS3. If Hazro could incorporate a few extra HDMI inputs (2 or 3) and/or a DVI-D port in addition to the Display Port, I think the glossy 27" would be what a lot of people are waiting for.

If there is no way to incorporate a scaler or additional inputs, how would one run an Xbox or PS3 with this display without using an adapter like the Atlona piece?

Thanks,
Josh

Nothing fishy going on: we understand the cynicism that exists after customers reported issues with 'previous' Hazro displays [which were put on the market by different owners]. We now use only the highest quality components and parts - all of which are assembled here in the UK. Customer feedback has been excellent and that is a testament to just how good our monitors are.

Hi Josh,

1. The panels are fully LED backlit - i.e. coverage over entire viewing space.
2. Please read below
3. Please read below
4. Not sure: I have to check this and post back.

We have a 24" IPS 16:10 LED Backlight monitor which ft. HDMI/DVI/VGA/Component/SPDIF/Speaker Out. However, its on hold for atleast another month.

Incorporating a scaler isn't a problem and we have multi output controllers that can easily be accommodated into our enclosures. The issue is that the more inputs added, the more problems we're likely to encounter. We simply don't have the resources to check, inspect and ensure compatibility with all peripherals and devices. That's why we've delayed the HZ27Wa which ft. a single DP connector. We understand most consumers would end up using converters [e.g. DP>DVi or DP>HDMI] to connect this monitor. When we tested converters, some worked: some didn't. Therefore, a decision was made to re-schedule the launch until we resolved this issue.

Currently, we're playing it safe by putting products on the market with single outputs. The less outputs, the less problems we'll encounter in the field. Any questions, please post and I will endeavor to get back asap.

Hazro,

First off, thanks for the quick reply. I find it kind of surprising to be able to talk to a monitor manufacturer and actually provide feedback and ask questions. Because of that, and the products that you mentioned that are on the horizon, I think Hazro will be my next display. I do have a few more questions though.

1. This may have already been answered, I apologize if so, is the 24" IPS/LED with multiple inputs going to be a glossy screen? I would rather have the higher resolution of the 27", however, if I can't use multiple devices without a converter, then I may be limited to the 24".

2. I remember you saying that DP and HDMI had essentially the same pin layout earlier in the thread. I also am aware that they make HDMI to DP cables as well as DVI to DP cables. Just cables, no converter, like this or this. Without a scaler, would one be able to use a PS3 or Xbox 360 with an HDMI to DP cable (no converter) or a PC with a DVI to DP cable (no converter)? I wouldn't mind having to switch out cables on a single input monitor, but I really despise the thought of having to buy an expensive converter like it seems everyone is doing with the 27" ACD. That was my reasoning for asking about the scaler before. If the scaler is easily incorporated, why not add that, then people can by cheap cables that are HDMI to DP or DVI to DP and let the scaler sort out the signal coming in.

Granted, I don't know exactly how a coverter or scaler works, so that may not make sense, but I would definitely rather pay Hazro more money and have a monitor that works with multiple devices over one DP input (built in scaler) rather than paying a third party more money for a converter. Anyways, thanks again for your time.

Josh

PS I agree with waiting and making sure everything is perfect before launching. I would rather wait longer than have a product that doesn't work correctly.

Hey Hazro Rep,

1. Will the 24-inch IPS LED screen have full rotation/tilt controls? I was interested in the newly announced LG IPS LED screen but from what I gather, it will not have rotation.
2. Dunno if this is a no brainer but will it also have RTC like the 27 inch screen?
3. Any input lag figures yet?

I appreciate any info, thank you!

I just requested info on the 27" monitors using the contact page of the web site. I'm going to find out what it costs to get one shipped to Wisconsin. Or if they're even available yet.
