Doubt anyone'll help you. People are already selling these in the for sale forums. Considering most of us know how much they paid, seems like a hard sell for what they're asking even though it is a discount, but they deal with retail and I guess they should get compensated for the crap they have to deal with.

this is the one time in my life i wish i worked in retail

Would someone be willing to buy this for like 10$ I wonder?

Yeah, this is the one time a year I wish I worked retail. Intel Retail Edge is great...

Pisses me off that smaller retail stores like the one I work at are not on the list and I've tried multiple times to get in on this program, got shot down each time. Seems like Intel doesn't want to help out us small fries with selling their processors...

Looks like you have to be "Rockstar" level to buy the i7 970.
You start with 500 chips but Rockstar level is 30,000 chips. Impossible to reach in one month.
There aren't enough surveys and contests in a month to get that many chips.

Producers can get teh i7 960 with only 3,500 chips. I'll try for that one.

There's info on the slickdeals thread on how to get rockstar in time.

It took me 3 days of casually doing quizzes (the info in them is repeated over and over again making the quizzes really easy) to get Rockstar, and I just registered my cousin last week. It also took a whopping 3 hours to get verified.

If you want the deals and are in retail (or live with someone that is), you can get them easily before Dec 29th.

I'm up to 2000 now, I should pass 3,500 soon.

Kmart is not on the list, Sears is on the list.

I doubt it. People are getting multiples and selling em for 600-700 a piece on the forums.

I am totally spazzing now because I just figured out I am eligible for this.
I was considering a Phenom x4 but an i7-960 for $99 is cats pajamas.

Now I just need to choose a good mobo. WOOT!

Ah, Retail Edge. You allowed me to cheaply become an early Core 2 adopter and thus jump ship from years of AMD usage (I've actually still got the e6300 and DG965W boxed up in the closet). I remember you fondly. But even your sweet sweet discounts couldn't persuade me to work retail again. I'd sooner become a fluffer on Debbie Does Dallas part 2. Fair thee well. Fair thee well.

I'm past 3,500 points now so I can buy the i7 960 just have to verify employment later tonight.

I recently joined the Intel Retail Edge but you need to have been there a while to qualify. I wish I qualified but I will just have to settle for the cheap i7 960.

This is NOT true. You just have to build up points. If you have the points it doesn't matter how long you've been registered. People in both the SD thread and this thread are already saying they did it in 3 days.

Yep, I'm at 5,000 now and it's only been 2hrs.

Settle!?!?

The 960 is nothing to wave your knob at. I am running a c2d e6400. :)

Also there is an option to verify employment via your corprate email address.

Cheers!

sweet deal. wish i could get in the program. very hot for those that are though!

I would pay someone if they would order me a processor through this.
Plenty of people are selling them in the FS/FT forums and on eBay. The going rate has been between $600 - $650. I personally would pay double the price of entry just to upgrade my i7 920 to six cores, but the benefit just isn't there for what I use my computer for to pay more than that.

Wish I could get in on this deal too, but working in retail probably isn't worth it.

Is there anything due out that's better than the current X58s? The DX58SO they include with the full bundle is at least 2 years old.

Looks like I qualify, I'll have a go at getting enough chips for the 970. I haven't even finished putting my 950 build together so I'll prolly sell it if I get the new one. Thanks for the heads-up OP.

you guys want to hear this? i have an 160 intel ssd from the last retail edge, and 1 this time.

will be doing a 320 raid with this processor with a 570 sli and 12 gigs of memory.

what about that.....?

i have been with the retail edge 6 years or so and order everything every 6 months, it ROCKS!!!!!

Glad to see retail edge is still alive. I used to be involved in it, but the first year thhe combo was a pentium D netburst, which was inferior to my athlon 62 x2, so I didn't get it. Second year, it was a c2d but I didn't get it because it wasn't a huge upgrade from my cpu and I would need to buy ddr2.

Hexcore for 200 bucks is kickass, though. GL to those working retail, especially this time of the year.

Darn...

I would definitely buy that i7 970, but oh well... maybe I can find someone in retail to help me out...

if anyone has a good deal on theirs when january gets here i may just take the 6-core off their hands. Will even offer up my 920 D0 as partial trade.

I'd pay $300 at least for this. I also have a i7 930 for trade if someone is interested.
