The caps-lock key: WOULD YOU MISS IT?

I'd say 99.9% of keys pressed don't need a caps lock.

The only thing I can think of right now might be emergency services (like police and 911 ops). You can easily get mixed up with a lower case L, and capital i (I). That could cause problems for sure. Typing in all caps is sometimes very much needed......

Also, the same little mistake could happen with air traffic controllers. A plane could truly be labeled "l8X" (with an L) but the air controller might call a whole different plane labeled "I8XX" (with an i)

Some people NEED TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS DAMNITTTTTTTTTT! :D
 
I'd miss the caps-lock key if it were taken away. In fact the only keys I don't think I'd miss are the scroll lock and pause keys if they were eliminated.
 
I USE CAPS LOCK ALL THE TIME AT WORK AND WOULD BE PISSED AS HELL IF I HAD TO HOLD DOWN SHIFT FOR HOURS AT A TIME.

BESIDES EVERYONE KNOWS CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL

I use it almost every day at work when when we have to key in caps only.. but at home.. never

HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL FOR AWESOME WITHOUT IT? I'D IMAGINE REMOVING IT WILL LEAD TO A LOT OF CRAMPED PINKYS
 
I can see where this would be beneficial for netbooks. Removing some keys to make the remaining keys normal sized would be a welcome change. On a regular laptop or desktop, though, I say leave them. I don't use caps lock much, but I do use some of the function keys a lot.

The only use I have ever had for the "Pause" or "Break" key is in aborting batch files while they are executing. That's it.
 
I couldn't yell if it was missing. Plus, when I write training manuals I have to use all caps for notices and warnings. Warning: DON'T TOUCH THAT F@%& KEY.
 
If Google goes as far as removing the caps-lock key, then they ought to at least also use a hard-wired Dvorak layout as well. ;)

Oh, even better! Make it hardwired for both QWERTY and Dvorak at the flipping of a switch somewhere on the laptop; this should be independent of OS, software, or the motherboard.

Shout key. With a Sarcasm key too (which does italics?) and a talking down to fool key (that puts stuff in capitals)

It is really handy when typing in data

Say you want to type in a serial number into a database:

1jk234sdmsi9991

now it is really nice to have those letters uppercase

That is using the shift key and typing fast.

That is using the CAPS Lock key, and typing even faster because I have all 9 fingers to type with

Let's just get rid of all lower case letters.

IF WE'RE ALL YELLING, WOULD WE REALLY BE YELLING ANYMORE?

It would also solve the problem for people who need to use all caps. :D
