Oh man good deal! I just don't like the idea of getting something that big shipped... hmm.

I bought a 52" LG tv online and it arrived in about a week in perfect condition. They do not ship big tv's through Fedex or UPS. My tv had a sensor on the box that would show it it was dropped or otherwise handled roughly while in transit. Not sure if every company uses these sensors though.

6ave costumer service is a JOKE. I dont care how hot a deal is i dont think i will ever shop from there again, and i shop almost anywhere online.

Had a receiver listed as available (10+units) i purchased it and it took about 5 months to finally get it. Went on backorder, than they canceled my order without notifying me, and when i tried to get the same deal they gave me trouble after having my $$$ for months.

that sucks. I'd suppose that deals like this are far more susceptible to that problem than normal items in inventory. If anyone bites let us know how your purchase goes.

updated URL to non-referral link. Might as well not give nextag a comission. lol.

THanks SJetski71

Plasmas still have the best picture quality and best viewing angles as well. I'd wait for black friday deals.

I might buy this ......... I have a 4 year old Mitsui 58" 1080p rear projection Im sure I could get $650 for.

it was $649 at frys 2 months ago, with tax it comes to about same price and you can actually go pick it up in store...

Good luck with that. From my experience you just about can't give away a projection tv anymore.

Roberty, you've not had much experience then. Granted, older rear projection TV's were horrible. I had a few.

This brand / model(s) hold more value. One, they still make them, 58", 65", 73" and 82" and the picture is incredible. 3 HDMI, Computer DVI, Cable Card, USB, plus all the old school connections. 1080p DLP, 58" New Bulb, not a blemish one? Yeah, $650 - $700 all day long.

I don't mind dropping down to a 50" Plasma.

I'm torn between a 3D ready 82" Mitsu for $2200 - $2400 or 73" for $1600 and this set.

No experience?? I had a warehouse of rear projection tv's a couple of years ago and couldn't give the damn things away. Had to scrap them - no shit. I'll admit the newer 1080p's are much nicer but I still wouldn't bet the farm on getting money like you describe. Most people want flat screen tv's now and won't even consider rear projection tv's anymore.

Hate to take sides but yeah rear-projection TVs aren't on the way out, they are completely gone. I see a couple here and there and they make me cringe.

You guys are both delusional. With all due respect, not trying to start trouble, just, your wrong. I'm talking about the NEW current models, 2007 - 2011 cutting edge slim line DLPs.

There is a huge market for the Mitsubishi DLP Slim-Line Rear Projections. Up to 82" in size at prices around $2,000+ or so. These are not your daddies rear projections, these sets have breath taking pictures 120 - 240mhz etc etc,

Here are a few pictures I took. This TV was professionally isf calibrated. The guy used a laptop, $10,000 in gear and using the service menu.

hmmmm that does look quite delicious.

but let's face it, you don't mount your 300 pound rear projection tv on the wall do you....

The TV pictured is 57" and weights 92lbs. As you can see it has a very slim bezel, it's also has a depth of about 18" or so. I think a lot of people have bad "lasting" impressions of rear projection TVs of old. Very few places carry them. They would not still be on the market if the picture and tech did not match flat panels.

Anyways, yeah, I've got it listed on craigslist now in 3 different cities near me. If I can sell it for around 600 - 650 I will get the LG 50" Plasma.

if you want large real estate it is hard to argue with a high end DLP but Plasmas this good at this price point is hard to ignore.

Always some goons on the [H]otdeals trying to debunk and negatively post on ANY KIND of TV.... DLPs are still one of the nicest TVs I have ever watched.... and usually are half the price of a CRAPPIER LCD picture. Wow, you have a 60 inch TV and its super thin, who cares? A newer LED DLP makes TWICE the picture and has an extra, what... 12 or 14 inches of backspace? If you have that big of a TV, you can afford the extra foot of space lol

But someone is always on here claiming to be a TV pro and throws some half-ass comment without ever seeing the picture in person it seems.......

LED, someone always has to throw in their Best Buy hearsay advice (taking advice from some random BB guy whose worked with TVs for 2 months and feeds you BS to upsell) --

Plasma? Someone will surely post all of its flaws even though they make one of the best pictures still!

LCD -- OMG, get an LED because LCDs are soooo last year! ...... ya know? someone always has to crap all over a deal here, wtf?

A nice deal is a nice deal...... just because you don't like something doesn't mean you threadcrap it on a nice deal forum. Its for DEALS, Cheaper prices you know? Not for pointing out flaws in every deal posted... if you want to do that go to the TV subsection on [H]!!!!

No one here is thread crapping my friend. It's been established that I want the Plasma. It's a great dea;/ I have LCD and DLP in my home, even a Dell 24" LED Monitor. It was a friendly debate and I was careful to show respect along the way while disagreeing with a few of the comments. I was as careful as I could be "showing" that rear projection has an extremely nice picture.

This to me is a great deal and I want it. Good news is, I think I have a buyer for the TV.

No, no... not you! You posted anti-threadcrapping :D And you posted stuff from EXPERIENCE that was truthful unlike some people that post here (I can easily find and sell rear projection TVs, so you're definitely right on that)

People just seem to come on these monitor and TV deals and claim the other technologies are better, but nobody really cares since they clicked to check out the item anyways. It's just defeating the whole purpose to post deals here when someone comes along and craps all over an awesome deal just because they don't like a little tiny thing about something that's DIFFERENT then their "perfect" setup at home.

By the way, thanks for sharing those pics... that's a purdy screen you have. (envy!)

Bad news, they are sold out. I just called to place my order and ... he said he just sold the last one.

Damn ... but I do have my TV sold but now ... I might have to email the guy back. Gotta love craigslist.

DLP's aren't that bad. They aren't those huge ones from the ninteys-2005 that you are thinking of

how about the refresh rate on these sets?
are plasma as bad about pixilization if you don't have a 120 or 240 refresh as the lcd tv's are?
I didn't get a plasma last year because of the heat and possible burn in.

I have a sony lcos rear projection and love it. NO motion blur or any of the things I some times see on my lcd tv. Yes the lcd is a LOT slimmer and new but it still can't beat this one.

But the dlp has one flaw, some people get headaches and rainbows from the spinning wheel of these. I am one of them.
BUT for the price, size and picture these dlp units kick ass.

and I have never wanted to hang a tv on the wall...I do NOT look up to watch tv.

I am no expert but I don't think these new sets have the rainbow effect you speak of. I've never seen it but have heard about the problem years ago. I couldn't really comment.

Any time I've seen a TV hanging, it's done wrong. Waiting room at a hospital, sure, that makes sense hanging it up high but not in your home. People even do their surround sound speakers wrong that I've seen time and time again. Wall or not, your TV is supposed to be eye level and your speakers are supposed to be ear level.

Damn this really was a fantastic deal.

I've already looked at all the Black Friday ads coming up. Yeah, this deal was still better than anything I've seen.

For those of you that don't know, you can go and google "black friday 2010" to see all the ad scans ahead of time.

sold out....wonder if the 1200 views had anything to do with that.....

google picks up [H] like hardcore.

Since i'm surely one of these goons of the past you speak of, let me be the one to remind you that it is not threadcrapping when you post reasons for your comments, this has been posted by mods time and time again. Not agreeing with comments does not make it a threadcrap, and the reast of us can recognize someone "speaking from the lofty" when we see it.

One thing mods do not like, is off-topic talk in deal threads, which we are both guilty of right now.

And no reason to take any of this personal btw, i'm simply pointing out two facts. I've been posting and reading in this forum for many years, this is how i know ;)

Gotta say though, I own a 2010 73" Misubishi DLP that I bought from Dell last X-Mas for $1200... and the viewing angles are not very good. I think if I had to do it again, I would spend a bit more for 60" made with a different technology. The vertical viewing angles are particularly bad.
