[Project] L3p D3sk

Don't know yet about the powdercoating i hope asap.
I do have some Google sketchups, but they aren't up-to-date anymore.

Awwww okay, all the same good job, keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing more of your progress!

Found a piece of window film/foil @ work and just had to try it :)

-When the Leds are off, the desk should be normal black

-When the Leds are on everything should be visible.

I know this is the wrong foil, but it was only to test how it looks.
In 3 days im getting some foil samples from a friend to test further.

I did use that foil now, but i guess i need a different kind of foil, my friend said it was possible.

That's pretty impressive. Very nice job. One question though. Do you have a way to flip all of the LED's off? It makes it look stunning, but I'd imagine after a while it'd drive you batty.

wow, this is as [H]ard as it gets, it made me a little hard.

If you ever move, are you gona take this with you?

Thanks all :D

Yes im temporary switching them with some old ccfl switches, but some bulgin stitches are ordered.
I can turn em all off, but to be honest i works great with the light on, it isn't annoying at all.

Certainly, i even thought about getting burried in it ;)

I have very similar drawings, but I was going to go with a submerged in non-conductive oil rig. The issue I have, of course, is weight.

Depends on how you mount it, i think this desk can hold 150Kg easily

That is a beautiful piece of workmanship. Only thing I would consider changing is the glass cover for the top of the desk. Maybe one of those charged glass (smart glass) panels that you can switch between having it clear and than turn opaque.

Awesome job. Out of curiosity, what kind of 'man hours' did it take to build this beast?

 Whoa - great jobs, man - I never thought someone would be so creative like that:cool:

Is that a perfectly rolled joint you are smoking in the filling up video? if so this is some of the greatest proof i have ever seen that stoners are not lazy and useless as that is such a beautiful setup that took some real work to get so perfect.

pro job, i could start a business to customize people's workstations, make sweet sweet bank. [H]

Thanks alot guys ! :p

Till here i worked on it for 2 weeks from 0900 till 0200, my friend also put in 25 hours.
So around 200 hours the first 2 weeks.
After that i lost count :)

Haha, it isn't a joint, in Holland some smoke "Van nelle zware shag" ;)

Nice case. I am going to make a wooden version of the aluminum case you demonstrated upon your approval. It will bear L3P signature.

I work in a cnc machine shop and do not have access to a fab shop.

If there is any Liceseing agreements a pm would be nice.

c-ya

I'm just looking to copy your concept. Not put it in production.

Wow, just wow. That is insanely well done. Props and envy.

You should sell that table prefabbed for rich, PC crazy people... someone on here bought a similar steel desk I saw for $800 shipped. It was not even as half as elaborate as yours., just a basic stainless steel L shaped desk.

I bet you could make a few more of those -- and a website and make a killing

I think it would become too expensive, specially when i need to ship to the usa ^^

The window foil idea isn't working out very well yet.
And a real B#$@ to get the glue off the glass afterwards :)

Bought some second hand BP fittings from a friend, so i don't come short when building in the extra pump, mosfet blocks and hdd in the loop.
Also cleaned up my own leftovers.

Never build a website before, but this week i took some time for it.
All my Builds, Mods and other stuff together.

Feel free to leave a message ;)

How are the vibrations, or did you control them with rubber gromets? What about the noise level?

With the desk elevated closer to ear level then a typical computer case on the floor, I would be worried about noise level. Also, with it being used as a desk, vibrations could get annoying unless controlled. I would think about dynamat, or some sound deadening material coating the inside to help both issues, since the main cooling is located away from the desk.

Desk looks great though.

I should make a movie of it when its completely silent here.

Almost completely silent, and no vibrations, guess its cause of the 3mm thick Alu
Its also isolated cause the 7mm thick glass is on rubbertape.

And here the update of a full day scrubbing and tightening Bitspower ..

Cleaning the glass after testing with windowfoil.
