50" LG 1080P Plasma TV - $796 shipped

Guess its time to do some digging as why this is so cheap.

It's not too outlandish of a deal. I'd classify it as warm. Definitely not suspiciously inexpensive. My guess is they are clearing inventory at "deal" prices before black friday where they'll make even less off of them. That and perhaps it's time for these retailers to make room for the new 2011 models.

The 60" one of those will by my next set.. from what I know about the 250 model its the same screen as the 550 & 750 LG's except without some of the extra bells & whistles like the network stuff (netflix, vudu, etc)

From the AVS thread it looks like Fry's was selling this set for 650... I am waiting to buy between black Friday and Christmas.

This is a newly released model in north america, it's LG's new entry level 1080P plasma, which used to be the PK550, in north america at least.

As mentioned before, It's cheaper mostly because it doesn't have all of the features like internet apps or 3D, and it has one less hdmi input. If anything it's likely better than the PK750 series because the PQ menu settings are borked on that model and won't stick.

As far as i know, this is actually the regular price, but still a deal compared to other 50" and 60" 1080P plasmas.

And as mentioned prior, the price did dip to $650 once or twice before, i think it was an in-store deal though.

You are right according to some of the AVS forums. This TV is getting great reviews and from what I understand does have the 3rd HDMI input. If I was buying right now I would be all over it. If you can wait, this holiday season TV prices are supposed to drop to their lowest prices ever.

I think you're right too, it might be the european version with 2 hdmi inputs, apparently the north american set has 3 hdmi.

I almost jumped on that TV on Amazon yesterday with the free Tivo but after seeing it in the store I opted to wait. While the TV looked good and is thin as hell it was the most reflective TV I've ever seen. A great screen does no good if all you see is your reflection, the sofa, lamp, and the dog sitting on the floor and only a hint of an image from the show you're watching. If you have so much as candle light in the room I'd look elsewhere.
