Do any of the Microsoft Office suites have anything Open Office doesn't?

Visio. OneNote. Exchange. Publisher.

Ribbon. :p

It's also slightly faster and a heck of a lot more usable right out of the box (when you set it up properly OOo is better, but that takes a long time).
 
Bibliographies (big one for me), support from company (never had to use it though), integration between Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc.

There's more that I can't remember. I researched it before dropping money on Office, but that was awhile ago for Office 2007.

OneNote is just fucking incredible, it's the ONE desktop app that iPad developers TRY to copy almost daily with the endless stream of note taking apps. There's some decent ones but iOS really doesn't lend itself well to this type of app. I use OneNote constantly and can't live without it now.
 
Publisher is a HUGE one for me. Plus, I got 2010 Pro for 9.99 through work. :)
 
Calc is not even remotely a viable replacement for excel. I also use Project quite a bit.
 
My only problem with Open Office is that its use of Scripts isn't compatible with Microsoft Excell. Big killer for what I need to do.

This is a HUGE reason why it's hard to adopt for businesses as there's TONS on code written for the Office platform.
 
For most users Open Office is probably just fine, but Office still is better overall, has more features all around, and has a great workflow in most instances.

There is a reason it is the standard, and it ain't the price!
 
I keep trying to move onto openoffice for everything, but you just can't with images, charts and graphs not always showing properly.
 
All the OneNote love is really making me feel like I should give it another shot. I wasn't that enthused about it when I first used it.. What does everyone use it for? / Why is it useful.

Also it's definitely true about Excel, even with its quirks it still is bounds above any other competing offering.
 
Do you keep notes? Do you store any kind of free form information and it so how do you do it? OneNote is just an incredibly useful and powerful way to record and find information and the more you use it the more powerful it becomes.

I have about eight years of notes in my OneNote collection, just a great way to track ideas, financial records, notes for work and school, useful information from the web you want to keep, business cards, just about anything.
 
Open Office is fine for basic word processing but it really doesn't compare to ms office. Onenote is really becoming a killer app(been playing with it for a while and 03 was buggy). Openoffice calc doesn't really compare to excel. Outlook seems to be a lot better then other mail apps.

I've used staroffice since like version 4 or 5 which is what open office came from. It was good but just never as good.
 
I use both. For personal non-school stuff I use OO. Teachers force MS on me. Sometimes there's compatibility problems with pictures and stuff. My CS dept installed Office 2010 on their computers and I really like how fast it starts up.
