You seriously need to calibrate those monitors.

The difference between the first and second pic lead me to believe that much of the color in the second picture is due to the angle, but he does need to calibrate them (or at least get them closer in color)

I really need another monitor to match the black one. The silver one is a total eyesore. Anyways, finished my new built a few days ago, took some pictures:

Picked up a couple new racks for my gear. Here they are in the garage. Need to get them situated and gear loaded up.

Heh, those HP racks are quite nice. When we ordered 4 racks at work they sent an extra two and never asked for them back, so we ended up with two spare doors...

Are they the same as the ones above? One of of my doors is a little scratched on the handle and wouldn't mind buying a replacement :)

did your racks come with side panels or are they open?

Most of the racks I found for sale didn't have sides. Took a while to find a couple that had them. In most data centers only the racks at the ends of a row will have sides. So it's pretty hard to find surplus racks with sides. The availability of surplus racks will also depend on your location. There are lots of them to be found in Northern Colorado because of all the tech in the area.

I think he just quoted the wrong poster? :D

Anyways, nice upgrade/location there stop!theradio, I remember everything crammed in one room at your former place.

Thanks! Heh, yeah, My fiancee and I were staying at the soon-to-be-in-laws house to save money, but we were spending more, really...lol.

And I'm not sure who was quoting who or whatever, but yes, I skipped out on an internal optical drive and stuck with a slim external one. I rarely ever use optical drives, so I have that one just in case.

my bedroom/workbench rig. I use the DC power supply when I work on 12V. the gige switch is torn apart because the fans were driving me crazy.. entec + misterx ppa for the cans.. usb x-fi for 5.1 and sandwiched gtx 295 for surround action.. and some rigged up monitor stands (like for crt's) that I saved from back in the day to hold up the case off the floor. and still leave room on the desk for working on stuff.

Awesome setup, but having those monitors up so high is KILLER on your neck!

your telling me.. lol luckily this is my extra workstation and where I mainly work on hardware.. I usually pop the seat up a bit. (it's at the lowest in the pic) Still need to find me a good set of arms cause the dells don't tilt down.. heh

Took the words right out of my mouth, not to mention the viewing angle.

read post above yours. It's actually not that bad.. I'm pretty tall too. Sitting in front of my 40" is prob worse.. I have to turn my head sometimes.. I just move my eyeballs in this case. heh using an IPS as my center screen... no worries on viewing angle.

who's is who's

me and my friend are debating. we say gf on left

Haha, nope. I'm on the left. I've had the 28 inch monitor for a while but I'd switched to dual 23 inch widescreens for a while. I liked it, but missed the big screen, so now I'm back to the single 28. We're selling her dual 22's and now she runs the dual 23's.

The HAF-932 on the end is mine, and the CM-690 in the middle is hers.

magnetik i need more information about this auto lighter on your desk....can you post more pics of it?

I just put the lighter there because that was the only springed socket. (so I don't use that one, the lighter works though. heh). I use the rest to power 12v stuff and the dc power supply to test car audio equipment most of the time. The audio equipment is in there because I like to jam sometimes when I'm digging into hardware.
