L4D2 6.79 or 20.39/4

God damn I want to play this so bad and AthlonXP is not online :s any other kind person would help me? :p

I bit on the two pack as well. I was bummed about missing L4D2 last time it was on sale and almost broke down and paid $20 for it when I was bored. Glad I waited!

I also got the two pack and to think I almost paid $7.50 just for l4d during the last holiday sale :)

Why did you buy the 2 pack if you already have lfd?

I should have worded that better. What I ment to say was I contemplated picking up l4d during the holiday sales but I passed. However, this deal was way to good to pass up.

ok what am I doing wrong. Can't be added to cart.

EDIT: working again.

For tf2 players out there, buying l4d2 on this sale will get you two special items in-game - methinks a hat and something else, though I haven't received mine yet.

Skillet.

I have L4D2 but not L4D, too bad getting the combo pack won't allow me to gift L4D2. I might post in FS/FT. :)

Dang! I was wanting to let my brother try this before buying another copy, and when it finally installed the sale was gone, and sure enough he liked it!

If anyone bought the 4 pack, I will pay what you ask for a gifted copy please, thanks!

to the folks with multiple steam accounts, why?

I don't care if you glitch or hack, I just don't get why to have two accounts otherwise?

I don't have two accounts, but I believe the reasoning for most is so their casual gaming buddies can play with them without having to buy anything.

I didn't want to start a new thread with this question.
My co-worker bought both games yesterday so we could play via lan since this is such a great deal. We don't have internet access at work and since we're deployed, when we do have it when we're not at work, it isn't reliable. We tried to play co-op via lan and we couldn't get it to work. We tried using an ad-hoc wireless connection and using my network switch I brought with me and both ways wouldn't let us set up a game. This is in offline mode, tryin gto creat a local campaign game. I started a single player game he could se it using the dev console command "openserverbrowser" but obviously couldn't connect. Do I have to have the L4D dedicated server downloaded and running on my laptop and then launch the game in order to lan? If so, I have to go download it and try again later. Any ideas or info n how to lan on these games please? Thanks.

@Sobek
instead of messing with all of that, I recommend using Tunngle.
if you google it and read up on how to set it all up then playing together should be a breeze without too much hassle

I can't remember off the top of my head how to do what your'e asking. I'd have to start searching the web and testing things out. much faster and simpler to use a virtual lan that does all the hard work, imo.

will google when I get off work, thanks.

I'm pissed that I missed out on the sale because my CC thought it was a fraudulent purchase. :(

Oh well. Hope another good sale comes along.

How would a VPN help him when they're on the same network...?

I know I had some trouble getting LAN games to work in offline mode in L4D2 and had to start a game by using console commands, I believe this should be all you need...

sv_lan 1
map map_name_here (I think you can use map * or maps * to list all available.

once the host is in the game, the client can connect with "connect hostname"

So guys, a probably dumb question....

I just built a windows box & installed steam. if I buy a multipack of some single game, can I download 1 copy to my computer and my 2nd bought copy to a dvd-r to bring to my brother-in-law? He is in Brazil and his connection is 256k down and 64k up. It's fine if it has to check if it's a legit copy, however aint no way he's going to download > 600M in a day or so....

Is anyone else who got the 2-pack having a problem with getting The Survivor DLC? It keeps giving me some kind of error about not being able to validate the .vpk or something like that.

In 4 One.

Got it yesterday. Played for a bit, then started back playing BC2

in the steam folder there's a steamapps directory that stores all the game files. Copy and bring that directory to him, have him install steam as normal, copy the L4D2 directory the same as you found it on your computer, gift him the game, and he should be able to start up as though he DL'd the whole thing himself. Now some games do an actual install with additional software (C++ redistributables, Sound engines, etc...) so the best thing to do is copy the directory from your steam folder after you have DL'd it but before you have played it for the first time.

Personally, I copy my steamapps folders over to my server before playing so that I can quickly reinstall steam to each of my machines at the house without haveing to DL 100GB's of games just to do a fresh WIN7 install.

I missed this deal and I'm pissed, but oh well. I figured I'd be considerate and notifiy my buddies that I would purchase a four pack and hand out copies to them. Stupid me didn't look to see when this offer expired so when I first checked it was all good, an hour later after waiting for their replies and the prices were back to normal. :(

I'd like to get a cheap copy from anyone who got a bulk pack for a friend. PM if interested...
