windows security essentials found a virus on my PC! Can someone tell me what it does?

I was using a program used to split videos named "Power Video Cutter" which I obtained from download.com and scanned for viruses using MS security essentials before installing it when I suddenly received a message from MS security essentials indicating that an exploit was found on my pc: Win32/CVE-2010-0818.gen

Recommendation: Remove this software immediately.

How do you know it came from download.com ?

video1.wmv in the root of c is weird!

Just to be clear: did you make that file named video1.wmv with Power Video Cutter? Or did it just appear out of nowhere? Was this the first time you've used Power Video Cutter?

Its a buffer overflow attack not affecting Itanium OS versions or Windows 7 or later.

Just to be clear: did you make that file named video1.wmv with Power Video Cutter? Or did it just appear out of nowhere? Was this the first time you've used Power Video Cutter?

C:\video1.wmv is the file that I was cutting and C:\ the location where I was placing it.

Not the first time. I used it to cut another piece of the same video a while earlier


By the way, does this sound like a serious virus? Should I be paranoid and format my hard drive or is it one of those things that could be harmful but is not necessarily causing any harm?

The file would have been around 150 MB's. I deleted it.
