Join the Alliance -- the Socket 939 Alliance!

Im still sporting a 165 with a DFI nf4 Lanparty expert. 2.6Ghz is the most I can squeeze out of it though. I have tried and tried. It runs everything I throw at it with an 8800gts640 SSC. I have not had any problems with any of the things I run. TF2 mostly. Next build will probably be an I7. Right now those CDQ's are looking mighty tempting though. Pretty cheap I'd say.

Im still running an ASUS A8N-SLI Delux Mobo with 2GB(4x512MB) of Corsair XMS C2PRO RAM and an 8400GS. The CPU inside is an X2 4200+ which i managed to squeeze 2.6ghz out of.

Still nowhere near my current rig in my sig though.

I've got an A64 3000+ on an ASUS A8V (VIA chipset, surprisingly reliable tho) that until recently was clocked at 2.4GHz and stable, but a couple months ago I replaced the RAM on it and set it to stock clocks, haven't messed with it since... I'm passing it down to a family member soon, will probably test a mild OC on it before I configure it for her. Both the mobo and the proc have been nothing but hassle-free tho, memory and GPU actually gave me the most problems over time (but both Crucial and BFG have great warranties that covered me).

Bump from the dead!

Pieced together out of spare parts, S939 A64 Sandy at 2.66ghz stock volts and a 9600gt at stock, suprised the hell out of me. Cpu wants more too but the bios only allows up to 240mhz bus speed. running a Coolermaster hyper tx3 which I got for like 15 bucks from frys.

About half as fast as my i7 at 3.3ghz, 1m superpi in 34 sec and 31,756 3dmarks in 2001.. about 8k shy of my acer, not bad for something I threw together out of spare parts laying around to tinker with :D

Yes, back from the dead - over a year later. Nice bump, qb. :) Long live Socket 939! I'm still rocking mine, but will probably replace it next year. : \

about 6 months ago, I finally upgraded my 3200+ to a X2 3800+ on my main rig. Win7 plugs along nicely. I think I'll be running this for a few more years.

Look what I can do!

3 years later and this system is still going.

I don't think I ever posted the CPU-Z of my X2 4200+. Even though it's running stock, I'll have to do that the next time I'm home and remember to do so.

Still running a X2 4200+ here. Stock speed, 2GB RAM, 7900GS, Windows 7...and still running IDE hard drives (they just won't die)! Sort of like running a classic car as a daily driver I suppose.

Recently rebuilt my X2 4400+ with 2GB RAM, 8800GTS (640MB) , EVGA mATX SLI motherboard to act as a linux box.

Its surprising, bar the graphics card, I bought the rest of the hardware around four years ago and Ubuntu absolutely flies on it. The GPU accelerated extras from Compiz are just the icing on the cake :).

im still sporting a 3500+ (dog clocker though only 2.5 under water) a8n sli, msi 9600gt, and a true 430 power supply. works excellent and only see 41c under full load on the cpu and 46c on the video card.

I'm still rocking my X2 4200+ (2.2 GHz stock), but I RMA'd my broken 6800 GT (that somehow died) with an 8800 GT, which was a nice bump. :)

Still rockin the Opty 165 as my main rig, OCd at 2.7ghz with DFI LanParty UT4 Ultra-D mobo.. also has 1gbx2 of gskill HZ DDR ram. just replaced the 7600GT with a 5750 video card, but will probably switch it back because building a new rig now.

I gave my mom my Socket 939 a64 3200+ machine when I built my Core i7 machine last year. I miss it. :( Its running Ubuntu right now.

I still have that Socket 939 Athlon 64 FX, and accompanying motherboard, that I won from this thread.

Nice processor, but the motherboard it came with was pretty horrible, so it never actually got used. Its been sitting in a closet collecting dust for years...

I might still be using it on one of my PCs today if the motherboard had been halfway decent. Now it's simply not worth it to purchase a motherboard for such an old chip :(

still have two 939 systems running XP:
1. 4400+, Asus A8V mobo, Thermalright XP90, Gainward Bliss 7800gs, and Antec Phantom 500w passive PSU.
2. 3500+, Asus A8V mobo, passive Scythe Ninja, passive HD3850, and and Antec Phantom 500w passive PU.

These have been running strong for 4 and 5 years now and should squeeze out another couple of years of quiet performance. It's nice when parts that seemed to cost a lot of $, last and last and last. Great value.

I still have 2 939 systems in use, but not personally, they've been farmed out to a friend and a family member.

1. Opteron 165 running at 2.75, DFI LanParty Ultra, Thermalright SI-128, and some passive mid-range Radeon - my dad uses it to play flight sims on
2. Opteron 152 running at 2.9, Abit something or other, Scythe Ninja and my old 8800GTS - my friend uses it for gaming on his 20" CRT and pr0n

Just sold my AMD 4800+ X2 for $152 and Asus A8N-SLI Premium for $88 this week. Stuff held its value well.

Oh, and the 4x1GB of DDR for $110.

What sucks is that i have no overclocking features in the MSI board's BIOS my Athlon 3200+ is in.:(

Then again i haven't used that 939 rig in years, so im not to hurt over it.:)

Glad to see people still using their Athlon's, they're a great line of chips.

My 3800 x2 on a DFI Ultra-D has been running more or less 24/7 at 2.7 ghz going on three years. I've been more than satisfied, but I'm thinking upgrade time is near.

Nice, was it Craigslist/ebay? Been looking to unload my 4800+ X2 and my A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo myself.

I'm about to turn my x2 4400 into an Untangle box with an intel pro dual NIC card. I did just snag an old XP90 to cool this sucker (no longer have stock HSF) and I just looked at my newegg invoice from years ago for the Corsair 2gb of DDR ram I have for it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145574 $242  And to think I cheaped out and went 1156 for my i7 so I didn't have to pay "outrageous" ram prices...

nice to see there is still a lot of love for the old 939's, still running the rig is sig, looking to upgrade by the end of the year I fancy the ASUS Crosshair IV Formula, 4gb DDR and a Phenom II X6, also got my old 3700 San diego still going strong in a DFI CFX-DR mobo w 2Gb's RAM,only thing is i cannot run my opty overlocked since i put the extra 2Gb in so running at stock these days, still seems to handle all the top games well enough for now but the 5770 is seriously bottlenecked by this old platform. so can i join the Alliance too :-p.

Just joined the forums today been an Avid reader of the [H] for many years now, also i'll get folding for team 33 too

regards

Dyno

Still running a 3800+ athlon in the "family" rig. Its just in a cheapo asus nvidia chipset board, but its still going strong

got an underclocked fx-55 NF-3 MSi rig as a media server, and used my opteron170 and DFI NF-4 board to upgrade my parents computer. The thing was still running a tbird before the upgrade.

X2 3800+ on a Asus A8N-E w/ 8800GT and 2GB DDR ram. Still running strong even after all these years. It's my backup PC but currently using it as my "main" system. Waiting to upgrade...

I just upgraded my cousins machine to a X2 4200+ ($20 shipped here on the forums) and a 9800GTX for $40 shipped. I also added a new 20gb samsung F4. His machine is now rocking smooth BC2 1680x1050 on high (AA forced off), not bad for $100 upgrade.

s939 FTW!

Wow, this thread has really come to life over the past day or so! (As I write this from my X4200+ powered computer.)

I'm still rocking my X2 4400+ and Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe. This system has been chugging along as my daily with nearly 24/7 uptime for years. Havent had any problems with it.

Are any dual-core Opterons selling for much on EBay? I haven't looked in a while. Just wondering. Last time I checked (1-2 mos. ago), DDR RAM was still a rip-off - about $100 for 2x1 GB of good OCZ RAM.

I am still using a Amd 4000+ on a Asus A8V, a EVGA 6800GT for my older games on Xp Sp3. I just moved every thing from a older case into a newer quieter case. :D
