Wife gone, check.

Drink in hand, check.

New triple 3007WFP installed and ready for gaming, check.

Looks like someone is having a great weekend in his digital man-cave.

:)

There is no such thing as 8043 resolution. 3x 30" can only be one of two, 7680x1600 or 4800x2560. The drivers just make a "fake" resolution to correct the bezels, but your still displaying 7680x1600 or 4800x2560.

No I've configured it - played it in games...it's close and up front but totally states 8043.

you know, its awesome and all that, still i'd love to see someone take one of those setups and tilt each monitor 90 degrees. I think it would be much better for gaming than the horizontal slice you see.

For me, it lost a *wee* bit of it's immersion factor - in TF2 and BFBC2, the only two games I got Eyefinity to every work with (well... Crysis, too...).

You don't get what I am saying. Of course the game will state 8043 pixels. That is for the bezel correction. Your still displaying "only" 7680.

I am currently running my 3x 30" ZR30W's in portrait mode. Look's awesome in fight simulators, but virtually unplayable in FPS as everything is so huge. You also have to do a ton of vertical scanning with your eyes on web pages that are 2560 pixels high.

No.

The resolution is 8043. It's treated as a single monitor with bezel correction. It spans across the entire 3 monitors, bezels included. If you don't believe me take a screen shot, paste it in Paint, and move the picture so you can see where the bezels would be. You will see that there is still pixels/background there. Then try it without bezel correction. That's your "true" 7680.

I think he meant the user (Digitalcaveman) will only be able to see 7680, since the other pixels are being "virtually rendered" behind a bezel - and you cannot see what is behind that bezel.

Yea, but they're being rendered either way so saying it's not 8043 is untrue.

What you would see is nothing behind those extra 343 pixels, because that is the entire point of bezel correction.

And even if the game runs 4.4% worse because it somehow thinks it's running 8043x1600, it doesn't make any difference.

You're still only seeing 7680x1600.

And the reason we're against calling it 8043, is because anyone could run a game at 12800x8000, have only 7680x1600 actually displayed and stick it onto a thread title.

It's just like when I wanted to bench my 8800 GTS SLi back in 2008 on my 24" monitor. I only had 1920x1200 resolution, but in the Crysis bench app, 2048x1536 was possible. Does that mean that I can actually enjoy those extra pixels? No. It's just what the hardware is made to think I'm running.

See these empty spots? That's where my bezels are. Bezel correction still renders them to make the image meet up correctly when it passes through the bezel. Yes you only see 7680, but its still 8043 whether you like it or not lol.

Yes, and I'm sure that if your graphics card were here, he'd be all like "I run 8043, bitches!"

But you.. no, you can't say that you're seeing anything more than 7680x1600. I'm sorry.

Whether I like it or not? I don't like it only because it's fake. Guess what - I'm running 3500x1600 on my 30".. the extra pixels are just on the sides. I don't see them, I don't use them - but if I take a screen shot.. well then I'm awesome. Psh.

Also, when you game, it doesn't display anything behind the bezels, unlike in Windows where it just stretches the background image easily.

No, man. Seriously have you read anything I've posted?

Bad Company 2 in Eyefinity, do you see any "blank spots?"

Oh and I clearly stated in my recent posting that yes 7680 is what you see, but 8031 is what's rendered.

Am I the only one wondering what Digitalcaveman did in his cave tonight?

Did he enjoy some awesome gaming, or did the wife come home early and put an end to that?
