Personally I think the contest is a bit high for Sept to reach 1 mil in 2 months for the average single user. 500K is probably about right. I also feel that is any out there is reaching 1 mil by themself, they likely have little use for the machine prize. Just my thoughts. I am going to help because I feel like helping, but it will be a close call for me to reach 1 mil by Oct 31st. Triple GPU 460's and i7 are already working the points through and I can reach the 16-17K per day range, but I will have to make that every single day without stop to make the 1 mil mark by contest end. Probably throw in another couple of GPU's if I get too close to call, but right now I am more concerned for my already high monthly power bill.

the reason it is this way is so that you dont get some guy coming in on the very last day and signing up then winning the system.. as well as the fact its been on the front page long enough that anyone that was actually serious about the contest would of signed up long before any of the point limits started.. along with the fact those that can actually make 2 million points in a month to stay in contention to win this machine obviously isnt going to hurt their electricity bill much so it works out in the end..

in the end its really about making sure that the person that wins it is actually a dedicated folder and not some one just entering it because its a free machine for them to go play games on..

This is a list of all the people that have entered so far. If you do not see your name on the list then you did not post a badge. You MUST post a badge either by editing your original post or re-posting with the bad and pointing to your original post so that gkanakis knows when you originally entered. This is not an official list. its a list I put together because i was bored as hell tonight and because gkanakis has not updated the original list. I have left it in text form so that if gkanakis needs anything from the list he can use it for the official list.

There are a ton of you that are using the wrong client as well based on your stats there are a few of you running the classic client on systems that should easily be running standard A3 SMP WU's and/or Bigadv WU's. If you have questions feel free to make a thread asking for help to see if your system is capable of running the SMP client and if you need help setting it up.

FWIW, I did actually start folding on August 31st if you check my WU entries, but I didnt notice to post my folding badge in the details till the next day....

As for the contest minimum points, I do understand and get why you would have a limit, I was just saying that 1 million is actually a lot for an individual, but it's your contest and I understand. I also understand that the whole point is to help boost the latest amount of points to help keep HardOCP at the top of the list of folding teams, yaay team of course.

Good luck to everyone in the contest and glad I can help both a good cause and a good team.

Edit: Hit 100,000 points, so looks like I might be able to make it if I keep this up.
 
After being away for almost 4 years im back just added a
3.4ghz quad core with a 4870x2
1.8ghz dual core witha 9800gtx
2.2ghz dual core with 512 mb nvidia 6150
to the cause
 
I thought I had signed in already during the first period -- no points requirement. I've been folding since then. Just figured out what the term "badge" means and how to post it. Hope I'm entered in the contest.

 
My SMP client has been hanging for a couple days for some some obscure reason. Now I am listed as inactive. :(

I'm late, and to get 1,000,000 in a month it would require upward of 40k ppd, which just isnt possible for me...

 
What kind of CPU power do you need to get 1,000,000 points in a month?

I'm in, just gotta get my client up and running 24/7

30 days would be a little over 32k PPD.
That's an overclocked i7 to about 3.9GHz and a video card that can fold about 10k a day.

Decided to install the SMP client as well after all on my i7, EVGA is just gaining too much ground. Gotta do what I can...

For those multicore people out there that do want to increase their points beyond the GPU based folding, the SMP 6.3 client is what you are looking for. For Windows based multicore systems, you are looking for this guide on how to set it up:
