College Students: 1 year Free Amazon Prime membership
Attention college students!
1 year Free Amazon Prime membership

Did a search and couldn't find this:

www.amazon.com/student

Requires:
-Valid .edu e-mail address
-Specify college, year and major

Go here to Sign Up [amazon.com]

Everything else is self-explanatory. Go to prime and manage your account. Should be activated and have an ending date 1 year from sign-up date. You are even able to add family members to the account like a regular prime subscription.

"Join Amazon Student and get FREE Two-Day Shipping for one year with a free Amazon Prime membership ($79 value), as well as e-mail alerts for exclusive promotions. There is no cost to join--simply sign up by providing your school and major. If you’re not a student, you may still be eligible for a free trial of Amazon Prime."

*I am not the arbiter of morality, but please don't abuse this by signing up if you do not meet Amazon's requirements*

Conditions for the curious (from Terms and Conditions)

To sign up for and use Amazon Student, you must (1) have an Amazon.com account, (2) be a college student actively enrolled in at least one course at a college geographically located in one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, (3) be able to provide proof of enrollment upon request and (4) have a valid e-mail address that contains the domain suffix .edu. We may accept or refuse membership in our sole discretion. We may ask you to furnish documentation supporting your eligibility. If you do not provide documentation indicating that you meet the eligibility requirements above, you may be required to reimburse us for benefits you received as a result of your Amazon Student membership. The Amazon Student membership is for personal use only and not for the purpose of resale. You may not transfer or assign your Amazon Student membership or the benefits associated with an Amazon Student membership.

Thank you OP. Apparently this works even for existing Prime members (been paying for nearly 4 years now):

Since you received benefits on a small number of items, you will be issued a refund of $xx.xx for the remaining months of your membership. If your membership charge has been completed, your refund should be processed within the next 2-3 business days and will appear as a credit on your next credit card billing statement.

PS: This is why I like Amazon.

Just registered as well. This is awesome since i buy most of my books from amazon. No more dealing with the overpriced bookstore. I can buy a book at a cheaper price and get it next day for cheap.

This is awesome, thanks OP! I just signed up, now to see if they will pro-rate me the $79 I paid two months ago.

They refunded almost all of my $79 even though the membership was supposed to expire sometime this month!

Damn, I can only hope I get that lucky. :)

Update: Got my refund email. Gotta love Amazon.

This is a great deal. Even though I haven't been enrolled in any classes in forever they never deactivated the webmail... So this rocks ;)
Edit- though if they catch me that might such but I don't see them asking everyone that applies for this for documentation... That's alot of man hours.

Could you have already graduated or do you still have to be attending?

Edit: Nope, as long as you have a .edu email address, you are good to go.

Thanks OP!

Got that email as well. Scared me for a second though. Couldn't have come at a better time. Just checked my Prime account and saw I was charged two days ago for my next year.:D

This is one stellar deal.

Thank you OP! I just renewed but after talking to customer service, they will probably be able to give me my money back!

I jumped on that deal like it was my girlfriend was naked and holding a piece of cheesecake.

I have an existing .edu email, but since im not active, I will not ruin this for the legit students (as im sure alot of people are).

Makes me feel good to pay for Prime when Amazon does things like this!

I sure hate this, when I had prime I was poor, I spend too much money, her goes more of my money :( Yay for amazon though!

Please complete all fields and re-submit your information.

Please use a current .edu e-mail address. Alumni addresses are not eligible.

That's what I get every time I try to submit. Guess that's what I get for being an alumni. :D

this.

I was just finishing my free trial and loved it. books 50% cheaper then the book store plus fast shipping

Sweet. Does anybody know if the 2-day shipping is applicable to Hawaii?

I signed up to see if some items would work shipped to hawaii, and so far no luck. We are stuck with 5-7 day free shipping (unless its a heavy item....pc case, lcd, etc...., they usually ship it free via 2 day ups or fedex if your lucky)

Some shipping addresses are not eligible and could result in a charge for shipping. Amazon Prime shipping benefits apply to eligible items shipped to continental United States addresses--excluding Alaska, Hawaii, P.O. boxes, APO/FPO and U.S. territories, possessions and protectorates.

Signed up and had an order pending shipment.... switched it over to 2-day no problem at all.

Remember to go to My Account and click "Manage Prime Membership" and disable auto-renew of this subscription. Don't want that $79 surprise exactly 1 year from now.

Just a friendly tip from your resident Amazonian. :)

Thanks for the heads-up, this is a really great deal for students. I order almost everything from Amazon.com (no-tax & free-shipping) whenever possible. A free Prime membership now makes buying from Amazon.com even better.

Accounts signed-up for the Amazon Student promotion don't auto-renew, nor do they even offer a way to renew from your Manage Prime Membership page.

My Prime Membership page is sort of messed up. As soon as I activated this deal, my Prime billing history disappeared. Now all that shows is a red alert icon. Anyone else?

This is probably the most awesome deal I've ever gotten for free.

I wish there was some benefit to having more than one .edu address (because I have four).
