I (and several friends) used a setup similar to that during a lan party at a friends house. It actually works surprisingly well, but I can't imagine doing that for a long period of time.

I have similar setup as my 2009 setiup...just worked on some wires and trying to think of more creative ideas for 2010.. hope you guys like my effort. :) and hope to get even more ideas to see how I can improve. :)

Not everybody is rich or gives a shit about their desk. Way to be an arrogant prick

I'll agree to that, but why spend $200+ on the PROCESSOR ALONE and force your high-end system to sit on unreliable tv-trays and use a barstool to hunch over?

I found it funny; some of you seriously need to lighten up.

...because some people place priorities as they see fit

@ Blue Fox:

That little keyboard by the headphones...what is it? Is it wireless?

Hotdrop much, blue fox? :D
Maaaybe...it's my covert cyno alt. :D
What happened to your FW900 variant crt?

:(
I still have it. It just isn't being used at the moment. I wanted to give eyefinity a go.

It's an Enermax Aurora Micro: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16823219004
There is a wireless version as well, but mine isn't: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16823219005

do you mind explaining what's in the rack? the only thing I recognize is the Firebox, which looks like to be an X500?
Since it isn't too easy to see, here is what it looks like with the door out of the way:

DSC01230s.jpg

From top to bottom:
On top of the rack - 4U Antec (plan on making it an Asterisk box)
Top back of the rack - PDU
2U Liebert GTX2 online UPS
4U Antec (soon to be domain controller/Exchange box)
1U Symantec appliance (has pfSense on it and is for sale...see my FS thread)
1U Symantec appliance (identical to the one above)
1U Watchguard appliance (it technically is identical to an X500 since the only differences in that line is software, but it is running pfSense at the moment and also is for sale)
4U Norco (main file server with 20 x 2TB drives)
4U Norco (SAS expander with 20 x 1TB drives)
Back and not visible - HP 1800-24g switch

I also have 2 more 4U servers that aren't visible (another Antec and Norco), but they're not doing much at the moment.

Wow Blue Fox, thats one bad ass setup, what do you need all the storage for?
Media storage and backups of quite a few systems amongst other things. It all adds up pretty quickly. Once you have the space, you tend to go through it.

Sounds true, i have only a few disks but they are all always full :) when i need some space i just delete films and stuff that i wouldnt watch or use in the future so whatever

just to contribute this is one of my setups...

That is one badass setup!! and yes I agree! Storage can go poof in no time!. I will have to start dedicating my resources to new drives, once I start ripping my blu-rays... some of those can easily eat up 15GB from just one movie...

My humble apologies. I will try to actually speak or well in this case type in English. As well as attempt at correct punctuation and spelling. As it happens my mother in an English teacher and I have the teacher's version of preacher daughter syndrome, or well in this case son.

What the heck was that?

I like pickles.

spiko your setup is sick! soon i will show mine, current renovations happening at this moment...

Thanks guys. Hit a minor set back today. I thought I dodged a bullet on buying a $100 Display port adapter. I was wrong...Turns out I ordered a mini dp to hdmi when I need normal dp to hdmi. So, I decided screw it and went with the big bad dp to DVI.

Anyway waiting on parts and trying to figure how to get it all mounted properly. Probably looking at another week of waiting.

I want it noooowwww! /temper tantrum

I believe dave is referring to the mac in the other room as seen in pic 3. This was covered by the case in pic 2.

Anyway... rage less. The mac v pc is done to death. :S
