Some good deals at NEC on refurb monitors/LCDs. I got three 2470WNXs (S-PVA) for $239 last refurb sale and couldn't be happier -- all three came in pristine condition and had very low usage hours.

Someone please stop me from thinking about how great three of those projectors would be in Eyefinity/3D Surround :D

Update: a couple deals of note... The 2470WNX is an PVA for $239; P221W, also S-PVA, for $199; 20WMGX2 is an IPS for $139 (nice catch, braamer); the three 46" LCD are all high rated and well under retail or what I'd expect used...

can someone point out the good deals? the only one im seeing is the 22" for $120. and they dont even list the resolutions of most of their monitors and projectors. i had to go to google to figure that out. and i dont see free shipping anywhere, so thats gonna kill a lot of these deals i think. if you could just list a couple of the best deals OP, we'd really appreciate it. :)

dang you. I took too long digging up the old info and making my thread look good. oh well.

@ ekuest:
20wmgx2 is s-ips, 1680x1050, super sharp and crisp, vivid colors. awesome picture. ends up being ~$160 shipped if I recall correctly.

2470 is pva 1920x1200, another great choice. However, be aware that dell just released an e-ips 23" u2311 for $240 as well and it has displayport (but only 1080p).

Those large format screens looks like they would make amazing TVs. Am I wrong on this?

any clue on which models are IPS. im looking to replace my s-pva gateway 24 with something bigger

Click the monitor that you are interested in, then click on the "Specifications" tab.. I know.. it's tricky...

Don't see any IPS screens there. Last round in February, there was a 24" IPS that was gone in under an hour, but don't see that one now...

Except that 90% of the time they don't seem to mention a panel type.

well the one monitor i was actually interested in had a completely blank specs page and i assumed at least some of the others did too. i didnt really see anything else that interested me though. i havent bought into the IPS thing, but good find for those who look for that. :)

How are those 2470's anyway? You said you had a few, I see its got 6ms GTG response time, how does that ghost for you?

Is PVA tech good for gaming? I currently have a generic TN monitor, but the viewing angles and colors are bothering me. Refresh rate is pretty good though and I don't notice much ghosting.

I came from a couple TNs and don't notice any ghosting on the 2470s. The black levels and viewing angles are really what I like about the PVAs vs. TN. If you're happy with your TN, I might stick with it, but $239 is a great deal for the 2470 which normally goes for $500+ retail.

I have a 24" TN panel that I am not very happy with due to the colors. The blacks are too black and the whites are too white, no adjustment seems able to fix it. The screen has backlight issues and the viewing angle is horrible and the monitor cannot be adjusted. I'd consider 240 bucks + shipping(if its reasonable) to be a fine deal.

The 20wmgx2 is a fucking awesome monitor. Mine was knocked over and broken by my cat and when I called NEC about getting it repaired they wanted $500, so this is an amazing deal at $139.

I love my 20WMGX^2. It is the best monitor I have ever seen, paid ~160 for it refurbed about a year and a half ago.

wow I have two 20wmgx2's and i'm debating if I should get another, then get a 5850 sometime down the line for some eyefinity love. I love these monitors. Turned me into a glossy lover.

Decisions, Decisions!

Yep, I'm tempted to order another 20wmgx2 just incase mine dies from having so many hours on it....

which of the projectors would do 720p easily for a home theater setup?

this also isn't the only one...

The 2470WNX is a S-PVA panel meaning darker blacks and better viewing angles than TN.

The EA241WM is TN panel meaning faster refresh, but worse blacks and viewing angles.

One thing to consider is, if you're planning on using the 2470WNX in multi-monitor portrait position, it's not the best choice since the controls over-hang on the bottom. Even still, I'd take the 2470WNX over the EA241WM.

Those 2470WNX are the BEST DEAL in all of monitor land

TRUST me.. these displays kick major league ass and for $239 is a STEAL

I'll take your word for it as I know very little about monitors and video cards.

I ordered one but with tax (Ohio) and shipping the total is 282.19....not as hot but from looking at Google shopping prices it's still a winner.

Thanks OP!

I was going to order a 2470WNX but then saw the review at prad....... the panel is HUGE!!!@!

I wouldnt call them huge but they are a bit boxier than most LCDs.

the PVA panel in them is wonderful and the stand is the best in the business. Bad ass in every way

If you don't mind the 20" screen, the 20WMGX2 will be the best monitor you have ever laid your eyes on.

proud owner of 3 of these when they were on sale back when and I am torn about stockpiling on some more in case one of them die :D:D (knock on wood)

I dont think the sale is still going on. I'm not seeing the prices you guys are talking about.

Pretty thick....I didn't notice it 'till you mentioned it and then I saw this picture.

It's no problem for me but some may consider it "horizontally challenged". :)

I already have one. I ordered two more. Lol. I was tempted to just buy out their whole stock. :D

The controls for the 2470WNX stick out the bottom correct? This would cause issues with placing 3 in portrait mode side by side I imagine.

One of these days I will have the money to spare for 1x3 20WMGX2 Eyefinity...one of these days...:(
