Oh nice! Looks perfect for an eyefinity setup. Three times the price pr. unit in Denmark is my guess.

That coupon has been redeemed.

sorry, slick deals thumbed him down for posting a single use coupon...i had it in my cart, too with coupon applied...i was gonna try to apply it to the u2711 when it said redeemed...

Awesome. The NEC ea231wmi avg price is $360.. With the same panel and faster response I am going to get this instead of the NEC

Really wish Dell would do it in x1280. This is not a HDTV. Its a computer monitor.

Is this pretty much how it goes now: e ips > h ips > s ips > pva ?

Awesome!

I've been waiting for the U series to come to 1920

But I don't get why they released both a 23 inch and "22" inch model for $20 difference.

3* $279 for cheapest IPS eyefinity setup!!

These do look so very promising, especially the 23". Fingers crossed for some nice low lag like the 2209WA & EA231WMi

Wonder if my U2410s are going to be replaced with something called a u2411 (based on newer naming).

1st U2711, now U2311 and U2211....hmmmm

not yet, would think it'll be u2412 next year based on the established Dell pattern

I'm not sure whether to get three of these or a U2711. This would be for gaming and video editing. Any opinions?

I would go for the u2711. But if you want to take advantage of eyefinity and game alot then get 3 u2311h.

How did you conclude so? Dell has reported G2G time (grey-to-grey). NEC has (and ViewSonic VP2365wb) only reported ISO time (black-to-white). The times can not be directly compared. Somehow I don't think there is going to be a huge difference here, if any difference at all.

About the panels, TFTCentral database says:

Code:
ViewSonic VP2365wb	14ms	23"WS LG.Display H-IPS (LM230WF2)
NEC EA231WMi 14ms	23"WS LG.Display e-IPS (LM230WF2-[U][B]SLA1[/B][/U])
Dell U2311H 8ms G2G	23"WS LG.Display eIPS (LM230WF2)
What this "SLA1" really means? I guess it is some kind of mark from LG because I've seen it on some other panels too. Probably not very important, though.

I don't think NEC uses any sort of overdrive in the ea231wmi which is why it has a 14ms response time. My guess is that Dell uses overdrive to get a lower response time.

I wonder if the U2311H (U2211H) will suffer from the same tinting issues that have plagued the U2410.

The nec ea231wmi does have some tinting issues but not as bad as the u2410. Chances are it will not be completely free from tint issues.

Go for the U2711.

I just bought the U2311H and I'll probably sell off my 2209WA. If I had the cash I wouldn't hesitate to buy a U2711 instead of three of these.

Have you compared your U2311 with a U2711? Especially the shitty antiglare of the U2711.

I feel like selling off my U2711 for 2 U2311s (already got 1).

No it's most likely the same response time.

The difference is NEC listed the black-to-white response time (which takes longer), Dell lists the dark gray to light gray response time (which takes less time)

NEC never listed the G2G time.

Don't get the impression that the Dell is going to be any different than the NEC, I'm guessing they'll be identical in nearly every aspect aside from the bezel/stand and what logo is on the box.

I had no idea the U2711 was a bad monitor. I'm just basing my opinion off of preferring one huge resolution vs 3 monitors.

I am very very excited about this monitor since the NEC EA231wmi has gone up in price. However, every review I have read about Dell monitors shows they have horrible contrasts ratios and black levels so I may have to wait until a review comes out before I pull the trigger.

Well I ordered mine today. I will post pictures when I get it. Does anyone have links to websites with patterns and other things for the monitor that I can post?

Dang...the 23" monitors have DP and DVI inputs. That eliminates the need for an active adapter for Eyefinity.

I think I know what my next set of monitors will be should I ever trade up from my three 2209WAs.

Given Dell's history with quality control though, I await a series of positive user reviews...

Good for gaming? Ive always wanted an IPS panel, so tempting.

If it has the same input lag as the NEC 23", then it's probably fast enough for gaming. TN is still the fastest, but the NEC is one of the fastest IPS you can get in terms of input lag - only 8ms.

The Dell website quotes a remarkably low 33W typical for the power consumption, which is near what some LED backlit displays get. Anyone know why it's so low?
