Comcast Business?

This may be the wrong place to ask this but I wanted to try and get some more information regarding the Comcast Business Class service they offer.

I currently have one of the Comcast Double Play packages and I am paying about $150 a month. I have Basic Cable TV with their 6MB internet package.

After looking at the business class, it seems like I am paying more for less. Their Business Bundles and Packages show the same Internet speeds I am paying for, with basic cable, plus a voice package all for $99 a month. This doesn't appear to be a promotional package either. I don't see anywhere on the page that says "$99/month for the first 6 months."

Anyone who has Comcast Business class care to chime in and confirm this? Is it really that price or is it going to go up after 6 months like their home packages?

Also, from what I have read, i don't need to run a business to get the Business Class service through them right? I just want a cheaper solution if possible and if they offer the same service I am paying for PLUS voice for $50 cheaper than what I am paying, I see absolutely no reason to stay with it.

Thanks for the input. I am at work so I haven't tried calling them at all. I was planning on doing that when I got home.

Thanks again!

Dude, where in the heck do you live? If you're paying $150 a month for residential 6 Megabit and basic cable, you're getting raped. I'm paying $99 for phone/internet/digital cable and the net is a 20/6 connection.

With Comcast, you frequently have to call and "cancel" your service, so you get to the operators who can actually offer you good discounts to get you to stay.

I live in California haha. I know I am getting raped. I was going to call them and tell them to give me a better deal but things have kept me from caring as of late so I didn't care enough to do so. I am renting 2 basic boxes, an HD box, and a modem from them so that probably adds 30 to 40 dollars to my monthly charge. Plus they decided to start charging a monthly fee for HD. I find this funny since they advertised the shit out of "Free HD" like 6 months ago.

Drop the basic cable and get the 50mb internet plan imo. ;)

Are you talking about dropping my current service and signing up for the 50MB Business Plan or a 50MB internet residential plan? Do they even offer that speed to residential?

Ugh, you don't even want to know the packages and plans I was offering when i worked for Comcast. Right now, the plan you're on is $60 total, and $90 (I believe) after your promo price is up.

It was around $60 for the promo but that is over now so it jumped up to around $150. It may be $139. I guess I will call them and get them to lower it or something.

Anyone with Comcast Business though still care to chime in as far as getting it set up for your basic home? I will find out tonight but if anyone can confirm this for me it will probably save me some time on the phone.

Thanks for the replies.

I would drop my TV service but I still find myself using it. I know I can get any TV show online but as of right now I do not have an HTCP or a computer that I can hook up to my TV to stream those TV shows. I like being able to Stream Netflix to my 42" as opposed to my 23" computer monitor. I guess I need to look into building one and ditch the TV service. I'll give them a call and see what my options are.

Thanks a lot for confirming this! I've got some thinking to do....

What I'm telling you is, the "every day price" is around $90 now, NOT 150. You can easily call in and get your plan adjusted, big time. Hell, you can probably keep your basic service at $45 and tell them to add the $30 internet, you should get 16mbps service for a year. Jumps to $45 after the year.

Well I called them last night and the best they could do was drop my TV service by $20 and make my extra cable boxes $12 for both instead of $7.50 for each. The guy didn't offer ANY discounts at all. I called in saying that I want to either cancel my TV service unless you can get me a better deal and he recommended I downgrade my service to the most basic package. He didn't offer a discount at all. I simply asked in the end, well can you get me a better deal or what because I am looking at the business bundle and it's better service for less. He then decided to drop my monthly fee by $20 to $25 bucks. I guess I am just too much of a pushover?

He did recommend I take my 2 extra cable boxes back and just get the free analog to digital converter box so I don't have to rent them anymore so I will be doing this which should cut down my monthly fee by another $10 bucks at least.

You are saying it should be $90 even after the promotional period but are you including the renting of the cable boxes/modem? I am assuming you are also not paying for the HD TV service?

Hey man thanks for spending the time to explain this to me haha.

I'm paying 99.95 a month for 22/5 business class. No taxes/fees/etc, just the flat rate. If you want business TV you'll need to be in a commercial building, they wont install that in a residence. It will be billed separately from any consumer service you may have.

Well that sucks then. I was going to get it installed in my home if it was possible but now that I know I guess I will have to take a different route. Need to put the foot down it sounds when I call them next and tell them this is the rate I want.

Also remember.. business class doesn't have that pesky cap that residential has.

I don't think I've ever gone over my cap. I have never gotten a notice or anything. I don't download a whole lot of stuff though. Just do online gaming, download songs through zune pass and download my steam games or the occasional game demo.

I have no complaints about my internet speed either it is fast enough for my needs. I download steam games at about 1MB/sec and I will download a whole album from zune in a minute or two.

Since I can't get Business Class TV service I'll probably just try and get a better deal on my residential package. I'm not hurting for money it just doesn't seem to make much sense to pay $140 when I could be paying $100 for the same exact thing.

Send me a PM with where you're located, and I'm sure we can work something out for you. Even if you canceled for a day, you'd be able to get the $60 deal I mentioned. Hell, when I was selling for Comcast, I was doing a triple play: All the channels, plus 10 HBO, 6 Starz, 6 Encore, all the on demand, 16mbps internet, and unlimited local & long distance calling for $90. That included an HD-DVR as well.

This is true based on your location. Around here, if you mention that you're installing internet for your home based business, they MAKE you get business class packages.

I wanted business tv+internet, they would only allow internet, so thats all I have.. their loss.

This is coming from someone who works at comcast, that price seems suspect. Or you have a whole lot of DVR's, box's, because 'basic' cable is at most 60, and 6mb (which we don't have anymore) would have been around 40 at most.

As far as the business class HSI goes, I can't quote any prices, but there is one advantage it has versus residential. There isa 24/7 hotline that you can call any time (obviously 24/7) that has technicians available. So if you are running a business and you rely on your internet, that extra cost to have a technician available is well worth the cost.

I take it you haven't had to pay for comcast as a normal subscriber? I had the ~12mbit internet and "basic" digital with DVR, and a second non-DVR box and I was up to around $180 a month before I told them to take the boxes back. Basic Digital was around $80 a month, the DVR box was another $15 or so a month, then you add on the HD box at $10 a month, Internet was $50+10 for the higher speed, plus taxes, 3-4 fees like the "additional HD outlet $5" and other bullshit and you're pushing close to 200 a month.

Why can't I just get Speed, Cartoon Network, History Channel, Discovery Channel, and Internet. I don't care about the rest, its all touchy-feely channels and filler.

Pissboy, as a normal subscriber or not, I know what I sold Comcast for, and I know what the every day, non promo prices are. If you're paying more, you need to call them up and say "OK, put me on package X". Hell, the EVERYDAY price for absolutely everything (all movie channels and on demand, all HD, all normal channels, HD-DVR, 20mbps internet, unlimited local & long distance phone) is $180/month, $195 AFTER taxes. The Promo plan is $139.99 for 6 months, 159.99 for months 7-12, and 174.99 for months 13-24. PLUS you get $250 back in a gift card.

comcast here advertises their business class which includes phone + internet + free tv. Except they said based on fcc regs they could not install the tv in a residence. which no doubt is pure bs. so i didn't get.

Not everyone can get that. Best I can get here without going business grade fiber or something is 8/712k I think (cable).
That along with digital cable with HD is probably around $100 a month.

Drop the basic cable and get the 50mb internet plan imo. ;)
I seriously considered doing this myself but that's totally worthless if you enjoy regional sports (like the University of Oklahoma, or University of Texas, or A&M, or TTech plays alot on Fox Sports SW). Satellite is also worthless for the same reason (plus the fact it's much more expensive than cable, when you get bundled internet and TV).
