PS3 Slim clarification?

Alright Im buying a PS3 slim tomorrow and have been doing some research, Im kinda confused, about one thing.

PS1 games.

Now i know you can download them from the PSN store, But can you actually load em up via disk? I mean it cant play em, so it should be able to read em off disks am i right?

PSN store charges almost double what you can get em for on half.com, and they dont have a few games that I want. (Mainly Thrasher Skate and destroy, such a badass game for its time)


Anyone know?

sony took out the emotion chip which was the chip that dealt with the backward compatibility so no you cannot play ps1/ps2 games in the ps3 slims
 
I know about the PS2 backwards compatibility. but its 2 totally different systems arent they?

So im taking that as it CAN play PS1 games? or just the games on the PSN store?

Not 100% correct. Stolen directly from Sony.

False. They all play PS1 games. PS3 slim does not however play PS2 games.

Well, that depends. Is your PC connected to the same screen as your PS3? If you are playing your PS3 on a 46+'' HDTV vs. a 17-23'' monitor... sure the PS3 version will seem to look like crap, it's having to stretch out more pixels :p
 
well picked up today my slim today!!

Seems like the wireless connection has improved alot since the last 20gb version Ive owned. Now just gotta wait till next check and pick up a monitor or TV to play it on... All I got is a Shitty 37" SD TV... And a 22" Emachines with VGA...

Thats the only downside.. Why cant they just release a VGA cable like Xbox... would make me soo happy..
