A Wall Street Journal article claims that Jerry York, Apple’s director before he passed away last week, had a few choice things to say about Steve Jobs and the way he handled his health issues.

Mr. York said the concealment "disgusted" him, adding that the only reason he didn't quit at the time was because he wanted to avoid the uproar that would have occurred once he disclosed his reason. "Frankly, I wish I had resigned then," he said.

On the same note, I'm never getting Blue Ray player....
BD movies looks so "realistic" that it makes them look un-movie like...
Everything I've seen on BD so far looks like a fucking soap opera show in HD, and not like a movie...
Last movie I watched on BD was Firefly and I was totally astounded by the clarity and vividness of the movie, yet at the same time I hated how "real" it looked.... I've only seen it on DVD before and to me it's better that way...

Do what now? Too real is a bad thing?

I think you're talking about 120hz... not BD. Both mixed together does look quite crazy though, but you get used to it.

Great Steve, what next, an article saying Richard Gere always hated Cindy Crawford's mole? You do realize that Apple is consistently voted the best company in America? Three years in a row. Hedge fund managers think that too, as does Warren Buffett.

I'll go with Steve Jobs over who, Steven Ballmer?

Keep attacking Cindy's mole. Meanwhile, I could buy HardOCP for the money Apple has made me only this year. :p

Ballmer > Jobs

2 words: broken record.

Not to worry, Apple will totally change once Jobs is gone.

It will be amusing. Steve Jobs has managed to develop a portfolio of hardware that appeals to the pants on head but money in hand crowd. Not sure if many others can duplicate that.

That was a 120Hz TV that made it look like a soap opera, not the BD itself.

Let's go with statistics, Microsoft founded in 1975, Apple founded 1976. Today Apple makes 1.6 Billion per year in profits and its market value is worth 57.92 Billion, Microsoft makes 13.06 Billion per year and its market value is 279.02 Billion.

Gates > Jobs. Ballmer is still ever expanding the Microsoft Juggernaut and ways to do things, Jobs is every finding ways to limit what people do with his devices. Therefore, I would take either Gates or Ballmer over Jobs.

Okay, so do it.

that info is a bit old. msft profit is 16.26B and apple is 9.36B. also apple is worth 205B while msft is 263B.

But i am team ballmer. which other CEO can start shouting:

WTF. Am I missing something from the article. I thought it was about Steve Jobs and concealing his illness and more, but BluRay?

I think somebody posted in the wrong thread. it caught me off guard also.

Indeed! BD is still 24Hz. Also you don't need to buy a 120Hz TV to use motion compensation. Like wise, most directors leave the film grain in the print. You can add a motion compensation script for avisynth and use it in ffdshow. You will need a reasonably fast CPU for HD motion compensation. I have tested it with 1080p BD and it works fine with an I5 750. Puts me at about 70% CPU usage.

I don't really like the motion compensation at all. It makes everything look like a soap opera. So I went back to using DXVA for all my HD material. Might as well put my GPU to use there too. It does a great job.

I think it's because they actually stopped putting as much makeup on actors so you'll be able to see every mole, freckle, pimple, warts and crows feet.

It'll be interesting if i can find a blueray 'Avatar' and 'Gamer' and compare the two :D

I never realized how much makeup they put on girls breasts in movies until recently, such 'vivid' detail! :D

Apparently Apple is #1 in innovation according to that site. :D

I have purchased Terminator 2 on every format I could watch. I laughed out loud when I watched it on Blu-Ray because it was so clear you could obviously see when they used a stunt double for Arnold. In VHS, DVD, Laserdisc there wasn't enough clarity to notice.

Still a fine movie, and I still applaud Cameron for it.

Thanks for the update, it didn't give me a date, I had retrieved the information from Forbes and requested 2010 information in my search. But either way, it still shows that MS is much more profitable.
