Hey All,

My brother is returning from Korea tomorrow, and claims I simply must play and learn this game. Anyone have an extra beta invite?

Thanks!

Nick

I hadn't heard of this until you posted about so I googled it. Looks like a League of Legends/DoTA clone. Have you played either of those?

Still in beta. Sorry no key.

I know they allways running promotions on facebook if your a fan.

If you havent played dota etc.. word of caution.. noob game doesnt allways mean noob game LOL. But if you make it past the harassment and learn the game with some friends its awesome to play online.. 2nd to none.

Sorry no extra keys here. Good game though. S2 games which makes it is owned by a porn mogul.

The game is in closed beta and you can only get in with invites I think.

you get beta keys from events on some sites sometimes and if you know someone that pre purchased the game they have beta keys too.

your not missing out on anything though the game is seriously imbalanced, worse than dota you'll just see the same heroes in every game. I just gave my beta account to my friend.

Play League of Legends, its much more balanced, free, and easier to catch on and retain to.

LoL is alright if you've never played DotA and made the transition to HoN. After playing DotA and HoN, I can't stand LoL, micro transitions is just stupid and $30 is a steal for HoN considering how much content, balances and tweaks they've done since I've started playing back in August '09.

Got a key, thanks all! I'm sure i'll be terrible at first, but my brother is gonna show me the ropes. he claims i'll only have to play "100 games or so" before i don't suck totally.

One of the best $30 I ever spent (I pre-ordered). I have played at least 250 matches averaging 40 minutes a match.

do yourself a favor. Don't play easy mode games. Makes it seem better but it's really not. Easy mode is to HoN as Gun Game is to CS. It's kinda the same game but not really. Game is not balanced for EM. I raged on this game for the first 3 months I played until switching to normal mode and the game is actually fun and balanced now. Word of warning.

It's not so much the game isn't balanced for EM as much as you have you play differently than Normal mode. EM is carry galore, if your entire team goes carries it's pretty much insta-win since early-early mid game doesn't last long enough to justify going an intelligence as they become useless very fast.

you don't want to play this game. It's basically DOTA. Which is fucking terrible.

Your entire success revolves around if your teammates happen to speak english or not, if they suck, if they're good, etc. Oh, and people disconnect like crazy so half the time you end up playing an unfair match.

So if you like games where your skill actually matters, go play something else. A DOTA match is a roll of the dice.

also they have the balls to charge $30 for a game they didn't even create? if i was icefrog, I'd be pissed, and tell them to go fuck themselves

oh and the community is fucking horrible, worse than xbox live, and s2 has no idea how to balance a game. they constantly buff things that are already OP and nerf things that are already bad.

If you enjoy DotA, you'll enjoy HoN, even new players enjoy HoN with never having played DotA before.

It is a team based game and like any other team based game out there, your teammates are the deciding factor on how well you do, how's that surprising? You must be having terrible luck because very few stat games have leavers, and if you're concerned about them, join 'No Leaver' games.

The game actually does take skill if you play with people that actually know how to play, pub games are garbage generally.

They have permission to make the game, if you've played it you should know on the agreement you sign to get into the beta.

Most of the community is horrible, I 100% agree with you there. I have never played with other people in any other game that are such assholes. I think they've done fairly well as far as balance goes, who got nerfed/buffed that you don't agree with?

Banning pick solves most balance problems with this game, but it takes a good 5 minutes to start a game with BP. Also, Chronos got buffed, as well as the owl guy, which is pretty ridiculous.

You are an ignorant fool.

Select your game by location, leave a game lobby before it starts if you don’t understand people chatting. If you stick around for the game creator to start and you don't understand anyone that is your fault. As for people leaving games, if you yourself disc from games a lot, you won't be allowed to join "No Leaver Games". No Leaver Games don't allow high disc players to join. .. .. Or Create your own game.

There is plenty of skill involved in HoN, you are ignorant to think otherwise. Come back to me when you have 1800+ PSR and a 5:1 K : D ratio then tell me the game takes no skill.

They aren't charging anything yet, because it is still in Closed Beta. The $30 pre-order helps fund S2Games as well as reserving your game handle for full version. HoN although much like DoTA, is also different. They also have gotten permission from icefrog to move along with HoN.

The game is still in Beta, patches are very frequent (along with Halloween and Christmas map themes)

Not everyone has to like HoN, you are entitled to your opinion, but damn don't come off so ignorant.

Well what is fun about wasting 30 min on a game, when you have 1-2 person(s) feeding and making it tougher on you. I can see why people bitch, but I also see why new people think the community are all asshats.

I personally think the ranking system needs to be redone and fixed. People who bitch, are people who have 1300-1550 PSR, with 30+ games under their belt, who are teamed up with 1500PSR first game newbies. :p

The game will be going open beta in the next few weeks so just hold on

and lol @ LoL clone...

It's not fun and I've been in that situation many times unfortunately, which is why I hate playing pub games, though I don't have the time or patience to join a clan and get my PSR above 1750.

PSR works in ranking how many wins you get, or wins that were against you from the beginning. Sure it doesn't display everyone's skill but it's better than nothing, in my experience a person's PSR is a reflection of their skill.

PSR really means jack dick and can make teams completely unbalanced if that is what you’re using to even teams. The only thing that is important is K : D ratio. I've seen 1300 PSR players with 2:1 KD ratio and I've seen 1600+ PSR users with .7:1 KD ratio. If you have 4 people on 1 team with 2:1 KD ratios and they carry their shitty friend/clanmate who has a .3:1 KD ratio, if they play with him several times, his PSR will climb, even if he did nothing but kill creeps all game.

I hope that full version has something that is more effective at ranking people than the current system.

It seems I am very bad at this game.

It's a difficult game to start playing if you've never played DoTA. It's not very noob friendly (because of the community) and noob games are not even noob games. Hang in there because its really fun :D

+1

You are misinformed - LoL is free. The ONLY thing that cannot be obtained for free (using points that you earn for playing) are skins, which have no impact on actual gameplay and are only for aesthetics.

I suggest you try both HoN and LoL and see which you like better. As LoL is free and you already have a HoN beta key, theres not really any reason not to. LoL has great matchmaking that will make sure you get paired with people around your skill level as best it can. There is no stomping of "noob only" games that I've read about from HoN, and the community is generally pretty good.

Hello all. I still have a couple of invites left if someone wants to give this game a try. Looks like I still have 6 invites left and 2 invites that were not activated previously(so maybe I can just give away these keys?) Please PM me your email for a invite.

I personally don't like LoL that much, but love HoN.

What Heros do you guys tend to use the most?

atm PSR,KDA,<insert HoN stats here> do not really mean much simply because it is BETA and getting hold of an account is actually really easy.
Too many people pad their stats with smurf accounts planted on the oposition.

MatchMaking & Retail will solve alot of issues atm.
With matchmaking you will not be able to plant players on the opposition to boost yr PSR.

Also the only stat that actually means anything is PSR, everything else is jack

I thought there were some runes that were only available if you purchased them, they are higher level than the ones available in the game?
