Ikea desk gallery

Thats very nice, the desk makes it look bigger than a 30" and the bezel looks like its brushed aluminum, although I'm sure its just grey plastic.
It's not grey plastic. The 3008's bezel/frame IS brushed aluminum.

Has anyone every figured out how to build a jerker look a like?

I was just wondering because ebay and craigslist are not doing it. The closest to me is in canada and I dont know how that would go bringing something back from over there.

The instructions do not indicate how long the pieces are. There are no measurements of length anywhere on the instructions. I need exact measurements of length for the frame work, as I plan to cut the Galant Corner Desktop. The closet Ikea is two hours away and I would prefer to know the exact details before I make the drive.

Thanks for your input anyway.

It pretty much goes to almost the very end of the desk. Maybe 4 or 5 at best inches of leeway on the back side of it.

I was thinking of picking up some Galant T-legs to make a desk. Since my closest Ikea is pretty far I'm hoping someone can answer something for me. What is included with the legs? I heard it comes with the frame. Anyone know the dimensions of the frame? Is it adjustable for different sizes of tables?

^^ No frame comes with T-legs. Just the legs and bolts. You can call Ikea and order frames though since they are not available separately online.

Oh wow, thanks for the info. Boy, would I have been pissed to find that out afterwards. I was going by a blog that this guy did on building his own desk and he even had a list of items and cost and made no mention of a frame. Do you know how much the frames cost? I'll have to take a trip out to Ikea to purchase as shipping would be close to $200 on the things I was planning to purchase and I'm really hoping not to miss anything important.

If you are going to Ikea, they will have a parts list. I think the largest frame is around $40-$50 USD.

We got Byske tabletops and adjustable Vika legs. The next one I do will be a Byske top with a Galant frame and T-legs. That would make a bullet-proof desk.

Here is what I have.

Just putting together my setup with my Ikea Jerker in white. Can't say that I've ever seen another white version 2 before.
The reason for the gap between the monitors is because I'm hoping to put a 28/30" in there.

Ok so this is my Mikael corner desk from ikea with some modifications

Full View
Underside
Left side
Right side

So what i did was take the top part of the desk, took it apart and build the extensions on the left and right side using the top L shape of hte desk and the two black sides that were holding it up. the two shelves are from ikea for a total of 15 dollars and the stand that my case is on was built with parts from home depot

Ok here is my Ikea desks. I have 2x Vika Byske and I use a steel wire shelving unit to keep all my cords and printer on (underneath the CPUs).

It is quite anoying how Ikea doesn't ship all the components. I been to the one in West Chester (about 2 hours away) twice and can't seem to find the cable organizer component in stock... Annoying but I still love my desks.

love the arms and the third monitor up high, but i hope you undock that ship from time to time, i hear Tri has lots of fun these days ;)

Awesome desks!! I just got myself a Galant, it's this model.

I'm thinking of getting this extension, but i'm not sure if it'll fit. Almost every Galant extension i've seen extends the shorter end, but i guess i'm kinda weird and i prefer to extend the longer end cos it's broader.

Will it work?

that one is for extending the wide end of a corner desk, or for use as a separate desk.

the 60x80CM one can extend both the 60cm or 80cm wide end of a corner desk.

added some more arms to my jerker.. mainly due to neccessity since ikea arms are hard to find where I live now and I needed a little tilt. I plan on adding another lcd to the left side soon. I can also swing the monitor in front of me.

pardon the mess and don't kill me about the wires. :D

Hi - I love my 8001. I had a 7001 but it died within the first 3 weeks so Accessories4Less replaced it with the 8001. Aside from HDMI 1.3a There's not a lot of difference between the 001, 002, 003 series. My DVD player has 1.3a so it's not a feature needed in my receiver.

Thanks for the input! Well I couldn't find the 5002 and the 6001 was a bit too expensive for me. Just saw a 5001 at A4L and so I decided to jump on it with a 3 yr extended warranty just in case. Can't wait to get it! :D Of course since I only have my cheapo Yammy PC speakers to hook up at this time (along with the Hsu sub), I really don't need the receiver now, but it gets me ready so that in about a year, I could get some decent bookshelves. Instead of trying to buy everything with limited cash, I decided to save up and buy decent components one at a time instead.

Woohooo, can't wait for next year! ... am eyeing those nice Usher s520's.

Sorry for the OT post.

Get one or two of these for your cable management? I have them on my Galant and they are great at keeping the cables up and out of your way.

For your desk i see that extension you have on the long side you dont have the foot underneath it, they people gave me the wrong bar for mine and i went ahead and put the desk together anyway. What i was planning on doing was keeping the foot in the spot it is now and just adding the bracket tomorrow when i go exchange it for the right one.. is that what you did?

I got mine used for $60. anyway, some of the screws were missing. The extension is held in place by nothing but the two bars that go into the frame of the main desk and into the frame of the extension. so if the dresser was not holding it inplace, it would be able to be pulled off. I like having it where it is though. I put my laundry basket in the space b/w the dresser and the leg. =)

What lcd mounts are those and do they just bolt up to the jerker?

ebay mounts.. was about $15 shipped per. One bolt went through fine.. I drilled a hole for the other one since it didn't line up exactly.

I still need to setup my laptop and KVM. I can't decide If I want to setup my laptop on the desk or just connect it underneath via my KVM like I had it at my old apartment.

My wife and I were sharing a dining room table prior to this setup and the layout just wasn't cutting it.

Just finished this:

Interested in getting a Galant this week.

Was wondering if the Summera PC holder would hold the Coolermaster HAF 932

Dimensions are from CM's site:

(W)9.6" X (H)22.5" front half, 21.5" back half X (D)22.7"

Thanks

My contribution!

I have no idea what they are called. All i know, and can tell is: They are white, and work great in this setup. Consists of the large desk on the left + a smaller white desk on the right. This is not an eyefinity setup. The Acer screens are for my computer, the Dell screen is for TV and xbox 360.

Looks like Vika Amon Tabletops w/ Vika Curry Legs. Anyhow, if you want to get rid of that middle leg, go to your local hardware store and pickup a simpson bracket to join the two desks, which would allow you to remove the middle leg. ;)

Dude thanks!! That middle leg is a real pain for my chair to get around. Since i dont have anything heavy just in that section i guess a simpson bracket would be good to use.

Thanks again ;)

Here is mine:

Lights off:

very nice work on the grund lights. considering putting some up myself, how did you conceal the wires? up top on the shelf itself? and transformer along the wall somewhere?

my shelf is about 6' off floor

Thanks!

I had to drill holes into the shelf where I place the lights and at the back of the shelf where I fished the wiring through.

I managed to tuck the wires behind the shelving and ran them towards the corner of the room and down a wiring conduit that I bought from home depot. I'm planning on painting that conduit black to match the walls so it's more seamless.

All the wiring runs down the conduit to the transformer that is attached underneath the table where I've also placed the switch.
