What do you think the best weapon in a video game has been? By "best" I mean coolest, most badass, most fun to use.

I'll take the classic approach and say the lightsaber. I always make lightsaber sounds with my mouth when I'm playing KOTOR, at least up till the point where I actually get a lightsaber.

The gravity gun is pretty cool, too. . . .

I would have to say the door gun on the Blackhawk in BF2 before they nerfed it. Don't get me wrong, it needed to be nerfed from its original strength, but that thing was ridiculous. You could plow APCs and tanks with it, destroy waves of soldiers and obliterate other choppers with it. It also had a great sound to it with some extra bass kicking in while it fired.

Does the weapon that was in district 9 where he acts like some sort of magnet and gathers up all the bullets and then fires them back in a burst, have a name? In other words thats my vote :D

Choppa Gunna - MW2 - yea i said it

that gets all my frag juices flowing

That thing is sooo retarded but it is indeed fun when you get to do it. AC130 is fun as well but too short for my taste.

Corny time....

Mark Twain said, "Laughter is the greatest weapon we have and we, as humans, use it the least."

Oh, ok ok, umm..... Yeah, lightsabers are up in my top 10... though in KOTOR2 hand to hand (or any other game with hand to hand) is just fun when you want to feel self empowered.

Ok, ok, you want guns.... the chaingun for the old Wolfenstien 3d. If only I didn't run out of ammo so fast. No reloads!!!

i would have to say my shock sniper rifle from borderlands. each bullet will hit then bounce off the target and split into three more bullets. its like a lightning part lol

Ion Cannon from the C&C series

As for Real Life weaponry. I'm Going with the Davy Crockett Portable Nuke launcher.

Wasn't there a gun called cerebral bore from the old Turok? Now that rocked!!!!

I'd have to say the barnacle from HL: Opposing force. Nothing more fun then sucking in enemies to be devoured.

The Crossbow from HL2 Deathmatch. Nothing was more fun to me than sniping a dude across the map and watching him fly back and stick to the wall. Good times. : )

My favorite has to be the flak cannon:

Love banking flak around corners or off of the floor.

If I had to pick one weapon, it'd be the double-barrel shotgun from Doom 2. There's really nothing else quite like it.

Quake 2 BFG...... It actually DID have tactics involved in using it, if you knew what you were doing, AVOIDING getting killed by it was easy. But everybody whined because they didn't understand the Line of Sight damage calculations. Then admins started turning it OFF because it was unbalanced - which it wasn't if you had two neurons to rub together and spend ten minutes looking it up....

I do have some very fond memories of that gun too. No other gun got so much use in that game. Great ratio of ammo supply to power. There is nothing better than shooting, then dodging away from the monster, then strafing back on to target for another shotgun punch into the face if they weren't already dead. Good times.

I would disagree... Best weapon around is a knife. Never jams or needs be reloaded...:D

I loved the gravity gun from HL2. Not only a weapon but a tool and there is always some kind of ammo around. And the most unique weapon I have every used. I also liked the Vintar (spelling?) in Stalker. It looks old-fashioned but worked awesome.

My favorite weapon is the nuke dog in the old Command and Conquer Red Alert games. Wasn't normally in the game but you could edit the .ini file to make the dog set off a nuclear explosion when the jumped on a infantry guy. *Dog running* woof woof, Booooommmmm!

Nuke gun - Turok games (old ones)

I still remember the fusion gun and the chronoscepter from the first Turok simply becasue of how rare they were. The fusion gun (which could kill off a whole screen of enemies) had like what 6 things of ammo on the whole game and could only carry 2 at a time (plus it was near the end of the game). And the chronoscepter only had 3 shots available and you had to find 7 pieces (of 8 or 9) to use it and I think the last piece was only found in the hall way leading to the final boss so you can only use it against him.

The predator's gun from the AvP series. The one that shot out blades that would decapitate people and leave their head stuck to a tree.

Also, the twirly staff thing in Painkiller. The default weapon that you could melee with, or altfire to juggle monsters in midair until gold fell out of them.

The Nailgun from Quake 2 (not railgun)...
The lightning gun from Quake 3...
The Lightsaber from...well all Starwars games lol...

My all time favorite would be the black hole generator from the original Master of Orion. Where did that stack of ships just go?

Shrink ray in Duke Nukem was always fun too.

The Crossbow from HL1 was pretty amazing. I also like the M4 from Counter Strike, felt the best and most realistic out of any video game gun i've ever used.

lol oh hell yeah... that thing was bloody as hell

also have to go for the gravity gun in HL2 :) there isn't much better than chucking saw blades at enemies

oh, and the spy's butterfly knife from TF2. There is just something great about getting one hit kills on a class that would pwn you, face to face

The Blaster Launcher from UFO : Enemy Unknown (Xcom). Being able to set way points for the rocket and have it smash into UFO's giving you additional entry points for your soldiers was awesome.
