New Zune HD Details...

I just want to say that Audiosurf Tilt is probably my new favorite portable game.

So fucking good.

Now I need to try PGR.
 
Why is this still not available at any stores in Canada? Does Microsoft just not want my money?
 
Hey guys so is the Zune HD worth getting? I want to get the 32gb version

For some reason i am deciding whether i should get the ipod touch or the zune, but i hate itunes...

Now just trying to figure out if the zune HD is worth it...someone convince me
 
I also hate iTunes but I love the Zune software. The interface on the Zune HD itself is brilliant too, just a pleasure to use.

Also, if you're at all into games, both Audiosurf Tilt and PGR: Ferrari Edition are a ton of fun and best of all, they're free.

Really, I can't recommend this thing enough.
 
I want the damn thing but I can't buy it from any Canadian site or store.

I have Audiosurf on the PC and I always thought it would be perfect for hand-held devices and especially MP3 players. It's infinitely replayable.

I've heard good things about invisible shields etc. I'm looking to pick one of these up soon (black 32gb) and just curious what other people found.

And Zune software is fucking awesome if you get your music organized / tagged properly / album art in the folder. Took me a while to get setup but SmartDJ and the whole system is awesome. mp3tag for tagging songs is super handy, also for renaming files in a standard form. I use (01 - *song name*.mp3) and now every single song is like that... all the songs for a certain album are in the folder, then all the album folders are in the artist folder.... yadda yadda.

Good times...

I've actually got an invisible shield I'm not using that I'd be willing to sell you for cheap if you do end up picking one up.

That said though, the reason I'm not using the invisible shield is because I purchased this case at the same time:

And I realized I didn't really need the invisible shield on top of that. The case offers enough protection as is, although it does make the HD a bit bulkier.

I'm sure the shield is great though, and if you do decide to go that route let me know. I paid $25 for it but I'd be willing to let it go for $10 to anyone who wants it. I opened it up, read the directions, realized I didn't really need it on top of my case and decided to save myself the trouble. I didn't really want to start a thread in For Sale for a $10 invisible shield or anything, but if anyone in this thread wants it for $10 shipped it's all yours.
 
I just ordered mine through newegg. Gonna have to wait til Christmas for it, but whatever, I'll have it.

That case looks very nice, similar to the one on my 30gb. I'll definitely have to pick on up some time.
 
got mine today from new egg at 270$. what a great player, so intuitive and high tech, zune pass rocks. loading up all my music now
 
Just curious, anyone know if these are at Bestbuy or another store so I can check it out in person? I've only seen a couple people using them so far and it would be awkward to ask if I could fondle it... -_-

But if it's the store's Zune then it's not as awkward... I just wanna check it out in person before I spend $250-300 on it...
 
Theoretically Best Buy has them, but the last few times I've been there they've been out of stock (admittedly the last time I went was over a month ago)
 
Woot. I just got my zune hd 32gb. I bought mine at dell for like $200 after 15% e&a and 20% bing cb.
I saw one at Fry's the week before and that convinced me. It was sleeker than even rendered the images online.
Now I'm just waiting on my skin. I bought mine from bestskinsever.com.
Anyone notice a nauseating smell from the USB cable? It's got that turpentine or gasoline smell to it. Gives me a slight headache.

Congrats! There's a slight smell from the USB cable that I noticed but it will wear off in a day or two.
 
Just checked one out at bestbuy... it really is small... like an ipod nano but the entire thing is the screen...

I think I'll be gettin me one... just gotta pick the case

You can't go wrong with the leather DLO Hip Case. I purchased it knowing nothing about it but I couldn't be more satisfied.
 
I like ones that don't cover the front, because I do plan to get the invisible shield, but I guess if the invisible shield works well I might not need a cover... I just want to keep this Zune in good condition :)

+1. Like I said in a post before its really nice for taking the device in and out of the car with my cup holder cradle. The device stays in the case and I just clip it to the side of my pocket when I get out of the car.

The invisible shield should be fine on it's own I think.

And like I said, I'll sell you mine for $10 shipped if you want it. Brand new, I only opened the package and read the instructions.
 
I dunno about a case... I bought a blue 32G Zune with the design on the back when they first started selling them... I like showing it off to the ipod fanbois. I gotta say they have a great collection of podcasts too!

Rather addicted to Audiosuft also =)
 
Ok I've been playing with my Zune HD and I have a few questions:

Is there a way for me to connected to a SSID hidden wireless? I don't see anywhere where I can specify the SSID I wish to connect to.

Can I download files from websites on to my Zune to be viewed? There's websites that do video streaming for the iPhone but they don't seem to work for the Zune, and I can't seem to stream or download from sites that are wmv.
 
The lack of various movie format support turns me away from the Zune HD.

lol i have it really good ...

the girlfriend buys me a present early every single time, and then gives it to me weeks in advance because shes excited (because she always gets me something kick ass)

and then near the actual day of xmas she feels bad that i'm not getting anything around xmas forreal and buys something else :)

I bought the ZuneHD at launch so I've had some time to play with it. It hit me the other day what a killer device this would be if the device was 3G or tether-able through ad-hoc networks.

For anyone else with the Android G1 phone, no, the tether apps DO NOT work with this device :(. So disappointed. I could have been cruising in my vehicle listening to streaming music.
 
I've been messing with the XNA development environment and have written a (mostly) working UPnP streaming app for my ZuneHD (I could probably port it to the other Zunes as well).

I finally got it up, syncing, and playing about a week ago and it's really cool to have the Zune automagically find music on a network and start playing it.

While I intend to put some more polish on mine, it'd be nice if Microsoft would release an official one -- or even one that would perform UPnP anywhere with your home PC the way that Windows7-to-Windows7 machines can now.

You need a wifi router though correct? My original idea was just my phone and the ZuneHD, but it sounds like I would need a 3G enabled Car-PC plus a wifi router...kinda bulky but workable lol..
 
I have one sitting on my desk unopened. Kind of want to open it and play around with it but with no OSX support I don't see myself using it that much. Got a Nano already and for just listening to music it is plenty. Trying to convince myself what I should use it for but can't...but still itching to open it -.-"
 
Santa brought me one...very sweet..connected to my wireless right away...I love it.
 
Got mine finally since it was X-mas yesterday and wow. Works like a charm. I even browsed the web for a good hour and don't see any issues like most people were... Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. So nice and love the free games. :)
