You Might Be A Nerd If…

Is all that stuff even hooked up and/or working and does each piece serve a purpose or did he just glue a bunch of old non-functional components all over the inside of his car just for the joke factor?

I'm thinking it's just for the jokes, in which case I have to wonder... :/

That thing's got to have worse mileage than Steve's car.

And I wonder if all of that HAM eq is plugged into the cigarette lighter. :D

The interior of it reminds me of the DeLorean from Back to the Future. Did he remember the flux capacitor?

My high-school physics teacher had a similar car (I'm talking about the interior,) but it was in a giant box of an american 70s sedan. So this one isn't too much of a stretch comparatively. He had about 10-15 different antennas poking out of the roof the same way.

(His house was just as ridiculous.)

Makes me want to forgive idiots who text and drive because what they're doing is nothing compared to this lol

Unfortunately this is not a joke. There are several people out there like this, LOL. I go to a couple "hamfests" a year and there's a guy with a red early 80's Escort that shows up to Peotone (in IL) with a setup similar to this. We call it the porcupine car. I think it's more of a hoarder syndrome than actual usefulness. Me and most of my HAM friends use one or two radios regularly. Most have no need for over 9000 radios stuffed into a compact car.

Someone in the Genmay forum posted their Hyundai Accent with a setup that kinda reminded me of this, heh. Not near as bad, but enough to be funny.

If all that stuff was turned on at once, you'll become the human magnet. Either that or say hello to Mr. Cancer.

Wouldn't mind having a few of those. Although, some of them are serving the same purpose... why?

Doesn't make sense, really. I'm a ham, and wouldn't mind a nice dual band receiver, or a HF receiver, but those are still individual units. You don't need a single on for each damn band and frequency.....

He ever gets pulled over by the cops that car is getting towed for an obstructed view, and I would imagine having that many antenna would make him a major target for cops.

Fortunately, all that radio equipment generates an EM field that scrambles the electronics in police cars. ;)

I actually saw this thing at the Dayton Hamvention this past May. I didn't notice if it was all hooked up though.

I doubt I'll ever have more than one antenna on my car as a ham.

where does his girlfriend or wife sit? oh wait a sec, he is a ham radio person. never mind.

I don't recall anyone in Genmay owning an Accent.

that'd be protias....

king of pictars

I drive an Elantra. ;)

You must not know much about electronics then. That would be like saying with all the AM, FM, cellular, sunlight, HAM, etc would do the same thing. You'd be surprised how much bandwidth you can fit in air.
