Any new CPUs from AMD soon?

I did a little research but looking to see if AMD is going to be releasing a new cpu anytime soon. I think the 965 125w was just released. Any plans to release a faster cpu in the near future?

Nothing announced. However, I expected to see a 140W 3.6 and possibly 3.8 by this time.

Next one that I know of is the Bulldozer core, and that will be 2011 i believe.....

I think the OP meant core revisions, speed bumps ...

There had better be something new in the next 12 to 18 months. 6 core phenom II should be delivered at 32nm some time in 2010.

I think that AMD will release quite a few CPUs soon but only on the mobile segment, not for desktops.

I am really hoping for a 3.8GHz or more Phenom II x4 before they phase out!

It seems like both Intel and AMD don't like to release anything higher than 3.4-3.6 from the factory, I wonder why this is?!

EDIT: I don't think either one have made a processor over 3.4GHz (atleast not that shows up on newegg quick search of Operating Frequencies) :(

YES bring out the 4ghz like the prescott core :) or 3.8 or what ever it topped off at

235e and 240e never went beyond OEM :/

So far. OEMs get first dibs on the low energy CPUs. Besides whatever desktop chips OEMs have acquired/reserved the good low-power Regors are also going into notebooks. HP has Turion II Ultras out now (the M600 so far) but I haven't seen other manufacturers with anything beyond the M5xx Turion II series. I got to play around with a M600 powered HP laptop at Best Buy the other day while getting ideas for my father's new system. It's in their dv7 line but I couldn't find it listed on their website yet. MicroCenter is also selling their tailored versions. Not that I personally consider it a huge issue, but I couldn't find specs on what speeds of DDR2 are supported and I really think they should have made it DDR3 since the prices at this point are so close that the extra 5% or whatever performance is worth it.

The last I heard the 975 should be out by the end of January unless it's canceled for whatever reason. After that you have Revision D Thuban X6 in 45nm, and finally Bulldozer.

Just the C3 updates to the already existing chips.

X4 965 125w, X2 555, X3 740 etc.

Thuban X6 is next year possibly with C4 stepping but probably not. That's about it as far as desktop's go until 'Dozer.

With the 3.4 GHz Ph-II lowered to 125W TDP, doesn't this mean there's "room" for a 3.6 GHz Ph-II now, at 140W? I think that would make sense in order to compete better with the i5's and i3's.. Unless the yields aren't high enough or they can't get it under 140W...

I consider this horrible news for AMD. I mean nothing new (well except a 6 core and laptop parts) for over 1 year. Intel will certainly expand its lead at the high end.

In non-gaming AMD does not really compete with any Intel CPU faster than the i7 920. Also Intel plans on releasing 32 nm Sandy Bridge next year which if this no new quad core CPUs is true, AMD will have no answer to that till 2011. The fastest 6 core Thuban X6 will be significantly slower than the i9 most likely it will be slower than the Phenom 2 965 in most applications.

Intel's strong field are easy loads in terms of code and data that is organized, they use the cache very effectively with prefetchers in this situation. This area also simple to test ind different performance tests. But it is quite rare in normal use.
At these light loads Intel has a much higher frequency of cache hits compared with AMD. AMD's are more suited for smoothness and handle heavier loads without losing the speed.

Where the heck are you getting this bogus info from?

975BE due just after the new year. After that is 6 core 45nm around March.

The Phenom II X6 and C3 stepping will get AMD through next year. Heck even for gaming people are still using Windsor cores with little issue.

there will be higher clocked Phenom IIs and a new desktop hex-core cpu, called Thuban. GIYF.
