Just got an EIZO CG243W from EIZO UK. I am wondering which panel it uses, so I disassembled my brand new CG243W to find it out.

Now, you can see what panel they are using. Seriously, no lie, I feel really disappointed as I still miss the MITSUBISH made, HITACHI made and the NEC made IPS panels. Not the cheap one from LG Display! Especially for this high-end market.

LM240WU4-SLA1. Yes, you got it, the HP LP2475W and PHILIPS 240PW9 do have the same panel but they won’t charge you £1000 ($1600) plus TAX! I will still maintain my old CG211. I know CG models do have good ASIC chips but will that worth £700 more?

Despite that, this is a good monitor. It has an accurate factory default setting, I do quite love it.

I bought 3 NEC lcd2690WUXi earlier this year, compaire to them, the CG243W does have the white glow when you see it from larger angle. But, for the default colour accurate and build quality issues, oh, also dead pixels, I have returned all my 2690s (all of them have 1 sub-pixel, I don't why. Just because the NEC does like me?), sometimes the NEC guys in UK are really hard to deal with. Anyway, all returned.

So far, I don't like the white glow and the LG panel. But, I do like the colour quality, and loads of improvement on OSD settings.

I will do more test in the future and I will give my review back.

BTW, I've been just new to this forum. I just wonder why the code can not show the picture in the thread?[/COLOR]

I guess if you buy the -SV version of a nec monitor you get the same amount of factory testing.
This EIZO doesn't have a polarizer right? Though it still has a H-IPS panel, which should be great.
I always liked the looks of eizo monitors, the bezel looks nice and matte, not distracting.
Do you have a calibrator? Eizo says you can use the software to calibrate the LUT-tables, that's a plus.
Compared to the NEC SpectraView, it looks like it only misses the polarizer, but has all the other extra's. Looking forward to calibrated results and how it compares to the HP monitor :D

Blur out your serial number. Do you really want Eizo to know you took apart your monitor? ;)

All desktop IPS panels are now made by LG-Philips LPL, including the LCD2690WUXI models you returned. The A-TW polarizer is now effectively gone from new panels because LG no longer manufactures A-TW polarized panels.

Thanks for your reminding m8, i've modified the picture.

As far as i know, HITACHI stopped producing its desktop panels last year.

But NEC and Mitsiubishi are still producing their own qualitative IPS panels. You can still see those panels are used on EIZO CG232, CG221, NEC LCD2190UXi, 2190UXi-sv and loads of medical grade monitors. However, they are really expensive.

Hello,

I'm about to buy a CG243W but i saw that the SX2462W just came out.

It looks it bears the same specifications as the CG243W with a few options missing:

so far here are the ones i identified:
- no hood
- no hardware calibration
- no 3D LUT

Apart from that the panel is the same, but the flexscan model is much cheaper than the coloredge.

Does someone have any feedback on this ? is this "light" version of the coloredge model really worth it ?
If not, do we really benefit from the 3D Lut and hardware calibration ? (hood is of no importance to me)

thanks all !

Depends on your area of application. The flexible color space emulation is a very nice feature. You can also assume that the CG models are preselected (and/ respectively the DUE is calibrated more precisely). The SX2462W surely is already a good display but the CG243W will get you additional benefits - you must decide if you need them.

Best regards

Denis

Partly agree.

If I had this budget level, I would go for NEC LCD2690WUXI2. But I personally would like to get a better one, so I went for CG models. So far, very happy.

The big problem for FLEXSCAN is, they do have the DUE but the uneven color is still a big issue.

AFAIK, in taiwan, there are some 'victims' got suffered from SX2462W due to the uneven screen issue.

I hope those infomation could help.

Not only in Taiwan. On the Prad.de forum there are 3 units with the uneven brightness/whitepoint issue. Two of them where tested by me, and returned without second thoughts. The 3rd one belongs to a user who seems to be happy with the screen, even with the problem present.

Eizo was nice on the phone, but they say it's within specs...
And that's for 1050 Euros...

Here's a nice one:
Technician: "If you find a monitor for that price that has even brightness distribution, be sure to send me the measurement report, i'd like to see that."
Me: "OK..."

Are you using color meter to measure the screen or spectrophotpmeter? I realised the uneven issue could happen but it shouldn't be that serious especially the DUE is always activating.

BTW, for those guys from Eizo, 1050 Euros customers can get EIZO CG222W, I am sure this will do much better job than any Flexscan!

I have a CG222W with me - it has a noise issue and I am arguing with the dealer at the moment - but for the uniformity issue, i would say mine is a good one.

I've also done the measurement for my CG222W, and if you want, I can post my result here.

I've bought over 10 Eizos this year, seriously, if your budget is limitted and can't get CG or Raidiforce, don't go for Flexscan, get the NEC 90 serious instead!

Best Regards

I have the DTP94 for measurement. It's good.

Maybe the tech at Eizo meant 24" monitors, IDK. About NEC, at the moment i am waiting to see the new PA series. Meanwhile, i will try the 23" eIPS NEC, maybe i'll get a good one.

The 2490Wuxi2 i tried had not only uniformity problems, it had a big dark patch in the lower left center and a vertical dark streak IIRC. The build quality was not exciting (very wobbly stand) so i didn't try another one.

Maybe NEC will phase out the 2490Wuxi2 with the PA series. The former was never a good seller and maybe it was meant just as interim solution.

I have a good one and am really liking my 231wmi. Really amazing image quality and superb color accuracy. Also simply superb build quality and design :D

This is exactly why I did not pay 3 times the price for the 2490 with the reports of so many sub standard units. If I could have laid my paws on the original (tough call though) then maybe I would have gone the 2490 route. Money for me was not the sole deciding factor.

I am also waiting in anticipation of the new PA series. Though with my new ea231 I have no reason to jump in early if there are manufacturing issues.

I like silver/grey NEC.

But for pro. use, just spend a little more and you get P221W. Very good monitor indeed.

10 BIT LUT and hardware calibration supported.

Oh, you can also calibrate it to SRGB gamut to avoid over satuation BTW. For this price this is a real star.
