Modern Warfare 2 is worth it.

I didn't care about the stuff IW removed from the game and bought it last night. Installed it on my main rig and it wouldn't run. Thought for a moment, cursed IW and wondered if I made a bad decision. Couldn't get it to run. The game would freeze during the IW logo. Then I installed it on my gaming rig and all was well. Beautiful game. Got to try MP with my friend. No problems. Other than not working on my main rig, I'm happy I got the game. Still trying to figure out why it won't run and found other people experiencing the same problems. Tried the posted solutions but still no go. Anyways, if you don't like the game, just return it or sell it.

you can't return opened software, (PC games), and you can't sell it either without it being against the EULA. My guess is this is also why they tie it in with your steam acct, so you can't sell it....

I hear the singleplayer is about 5 hours, a game that short and that expensive NEEDS a solid multiplayer to be anywhere close to worth it.

Had they not screwed over the MP then they would have had the sale from me even at £5 over the average, at the moment it's barely even worth the 11Gb torrent.

Disagree. I've got enough MP games to last me a lifetime right now, and the SP that short is something I can get through and enjoy. I'm too busy to play many games anymore.

I bought it for 360 just to play the SP. i'll never fire up the MP.

Then you probably could have borrowed it from a friend for that purpose.

Considering the number of flaws in cod4, I don't really see how MW2 brings enough to the game to justify it's price, even it they hadn't crippled it.

Sure the game is probably awesome for consoles matchmaking and all that crap as it nicely places the diapers on console gamers that they require.

This game is a slap in the face for anyone who is a real gamer, and everyone who has bought into this bullshit madden game with guns should jump off a bridge.

I used to PC game exclusively. Now I cant be bothered and play console. A real gamer enjoys games period, not only on the PC, not only on Consoles. Just games. Having a preference for my couch, large TV, and the ability to play games without spending hundreds on upgrades every few months does not mean I require a diaper  Does kind of sound like you've just left them behind though.

There are a lot of developers here looking at this Im sure. Can we charge 60 dollars for a game? For me the answer is NO. There are no licensing fees to publish for PC.

Can we strip out PC features that have been around for a LONG TIME?

I say no again. I personally boycott this game so that hopefully other developers get the message that I am not overpaying for PC games and I want PC features that have been around since the dawn of PC multiplayer.

Dont not send developers a message that they can bend you over without the KY jelly!

Really? Cause everything you just said refutes that. They made the minimum amount of effort to get it on the pc and left it at that, which absolutely screams "console port."

I'm sorry, but a shitty excuse for mp and a 4 hour sp campaign? For $60? No.

Have you actually played the game? People here and on other forums are saying the sp campaign took them about 10 hours.

Well, some people suck more than others, but you might be seeing the differences between difficulties also.

Ive played the game single player, its the same crap as MW1. Just different setting, maps, few more guns.... Its the same stuff...

I dont understand why people keep telling the "haters" to play the game. We already know the facts, playing the game isnt going turn the matchmaking system into dedicated servers. This is the main reason I personally would never buy it. A multiplayer online PC game is NOT run via matchmaking, who the hell wants to play online when a host pings >>>0<<< and the rest are humping his slow ass home upload speed and pinging 150+... Who wants to play that garbage...I sure dont, and definitely not going to pay $60 to do so.

Nobody is saying the game isnt necessary fun, its the principle of what they have done with this lazy lackluster port.

They must be great for most people. And mcdonalds is making tons of money so it's working out well for them and their customers. And that's what's important.

While I personally hate mcdonalds that's irrelevant.

Sometimes you just have to accept being in the minority and having an opinion that just doesn't matter.
No reason to get pissed off because people are enjoying a product that you hate. Different strokes for different folks.

Do I really hve to explain that I was using your logic as an example of irony?

While I am in a "minority" - [H]ardcore PC gamers are a very small % of gamers as a whole. I do expect [H] readers to relate to my opinion more so than the casual console gamers that IW is trying to please. Therefore, I felt the need to comment in a thread about the subject.

I'm not pissed people are happy with the blatant console port of the game. I pissed because IW has fucked over the hardcore like myself.

I disagree, it works just fine.

different folks different strokes; personally I can't hit shit with a controller and I refuse to use auto aim, might as well just have a bot play the game for me at that rate.

lol no joke.... Try to pick up a game like halo, then turn around and try to shoot your team8 while he is moving around. Every console FPS you have ever played has autoaim because using a joystick makes it impossible.

I think thats why the counterstrike for xbox a long time ago sucked so bad actually.

Go ahead and disagree with me, but the fact of the matter is most of the people playing have no problems and are happy with the experience. Despite all the whining it turns out you are in the minority.

most peolpe? where are the most people in your claim? :p

Sums everything up.

On these very boards. Read the posts by people who have actually bought and played the game.
Read the reviews and the user comments. I have been reading many sites since the game came out. The majority of the people whining don't own the game. The majority of the people who do own the game love it.

To be fair, if you look at IW forums, theres also a shitload of people who did buy it complaining about problems and issues with it.

Fallout 3 was a AA title and the first day the forums were flooded with technical support threads.

You guys are grasping at straws now.

How have they 'fucked you over'? All you have to do is not buy the game. No harm no foul.

They fucked myself and the hardcore PC community over by porting console shit to the PC.

IW doesn't owe me or the community anything, I just thought they were better than that. I thought that they understood the community because CoD4 is a great game. I thought wrong. This is a huge disappointment since playing CoD4 with my clan is one of my favorite pastimes.

And for the record I didn't buy the game.

"technical" support problem

not "complaining" issue

get it right...

Yeah, there are just too many variables on the PC, many many games have problems with audio and video drivers and combinations of different hardware and driver versions. Hell, I had to plug a microphone into my mic jack to get COD4 to start up.

If you play the game, you'll find that it feels very much like COD4, as it's basically the same engine.

I'm so tired of hearing "Hardcore" and all of the bitching from this forum, it's turned into the [W]hiney Forum.

I don't need to play the game to know I won't like it... No dedicated servers, matchmaking, shitty pings, no lean, console FoV, 2 hardcore modes.

The engine doesn't mean shit it's the game design that's lacking.

**Edit

Yeah, I'll [W]hine until I am blue in the face about this. I don't care. If the OP is going to express his positive opinion about the game I am going to express my negative opinion because this should not become the standard in PC gaming. Already id software is looking at what IW is doing and I'm sure other devs are as well.

Go ahead sheeple, give in, buy it, support this shit... drink the kool-aid, the console kids do it.

Fanboy much?

Just because people won't support a terrible CONSOLE PORT because it is a slap to the face of all PC fans doesn't mean it's whining. Some people, unlike you, will not support this garbage with our hard earned money.

Nobody who hasn't actually sat down and played it for a couple of hours should really judge. My tiny crew and I decided to boycott it, then changed our minds. The result? We hate the lag, we miss leaning, but the game is a freaking blast. So yeah, it's worth it.

You are assuming I bought it, which I did not. So how can I be a fanboy?

All i'm saying is the people who did buy it, love it. The people who did not buy are still whining.
Everything you think is a big deal is turning out not to be.

People who are willing to spend $60 say they are willing to spend $60.

People who are not willing to spend $60 say they are not willing to spend $60.

That's sort of a given? Something about these statements irk me... obviously if you bought it you had some sort of predisposition to like it in the first place.

I think a demo would have been an excellent choice for IW, I know everyone suggests they didnt because "its garbage" but I found it to be quite the opposite, the matchmaking system has impressed me, and I've hosted many dedicated servers over the years since CS1.5

I agree. A demo would be nice.

I just don't understand comments like this.

If it's worth it in its current state, how much more would it be worth without the lag? With leaning? With higher capacity servers? They're already charging more for this title than the previous one.

I just don't see how anyone can be happy paying more for less, especially people who frequent a PC hardware forum. Will your next video-card purchase have fewer features and cost more? Likely not :/

Oh snap, that just gave me an analogy of the day:

Intel announces new Corei12 clocked @ 2 Ghz without the ability to overclock. All clocks are locked in so the mass consumer gets the best enjoyment out of the box.
