PETMAN: BigDog gets a Big Brother

I think the robot guys would increase the stability of the robot if they gave the thing arms, like us humans

I'm telling ya, they just need to put em all together now. Strap an M60 to the torso of this thing and the big dog robot. Link it up with an xbox controller. Then fire up the real world mech warriors. Give them a set of the really accurate hand you guys had linked earlier... Maybe a psychotic looking robot head.

For some reason, this reminds me of: "All your base are belong to us."

It'd been funny when that guy pushed the robot to test stability, if the robot responded by kicking him.

I seriously cant wait till we can own midget sized robots that are fully autonomous. Awesome sauce.

You have all these companies with pieces of a person. Why not get all together and make one!? They have the arms, hands, legs, head... AI is getting close... Damn, fully bipedal autonomous robots are just around the corner.

Which begs the question: if its a robot, is it really considered prostitution? :D

Reminds me more of these than Terminators:

It walks all drunk like because there is an extra joint going flamingo style right below the hip joint. And it looks pretty top heavy with a lot of mass being in front of it :p

and this is more like the things from the metal gear series (being all the army satchels and whatnot), especially those in MGS4, the bastards.

Heel toe walking is actually not a natural human movement... try walking heel-toe without shoes and you wont get far. Humans existed for thousands of years without shoes and walked on the ball of their feet not the heel.

Yeah, my thought as well - some heel-ruining moves there - but I guess that's why it's wearing shoes with thick dampening soles (or whatever the English word is) ^^ So in a way, very modern human-like... but what is natural...

Why the hell does this thread has 5 times less posts than the Sony complaining about piracy one?
Darn and that's how you want to improve?

I'm beginning to understand that whole uncanny valley thing. That robot honestly scares the shit out of me.

Herbie Hancock's song "Rocket" should have been playing in the background!

It's his early MTV music video come alive!

Hehehe

if robots are designed to serve us, and preform tasks more efficiently, why is most of the focus of robotics to stay within the limits of the awkward human form?

Integrate a GPS on that robot, give it the proper coordinates, and let it loose.
