To all you L4D2 boycotters...

I agree, well said bro.

BTW: Another addition to the above post, you DO NOT have to buy it! Just keep playing L4D and stop whining...

And another BTW: Valve is a COMPANY that makes MONEY... they cannot give us stuff for free forever, they have to support their bottom line just like the rest of us.

All the boycotters are bullshit, honestly. I can assure you they'll all fork over the cash once they see how popular/fun the game is. Its a pretty safe bet to assume that Valve will deliver a good experience.

1. No crap.

2. Who said forever? Just you. They said they were going to give some free updates when it was released. They never really did. Then they announced L4D2 for $$. People got upset because they never released anything for free like they said they were and came out with basically an update for money. After realizing how idiotic this move was, they finally released some free stuff only because it was going to cost them some sales. Their fault in the first place.

No, valve releasing new stuff and supporting old has nothing to do with each other. Also, can you porvide the link where this free stuff magically appeared as a direct result of people's whining?

The same way L4D was a great experience? Once you get over the initial excitement, there are way too many flaws with the game.

I and my friends won't be buying it because we feel that Valve screwed us pretty badly. We all got in on the $45 pre-order deal JUST before they released the 4 pack (we make up a group of 4). Only having half of the campaigns available for versus for like what, 6 months? Incessant gameplay flaws (my biggest complaint: health pack pickups in versus and a lack of ranking system so you don't get people that ragequit all the time).

We all feel like we paid $45 for a beta test and we aren't even going to see the finished product without shelling out more cash. As such, we've all agreed to wait until it is like $25 or less. If Valve never goes that low, oh well, our loss I guess. The game may be great, but our mouths are way too sore from L4D.

I'm not boycotting the game per se, I'm just bored with the first one, and find no reason to buy the same game over again. I played the first one quite a bit when I got it initially, but I rarely play it anymore. Unless you are playing it with your friends, it simply has no replayability. You can change the scenery, add a couple new guns and a frying pan, but it still doesn't add to the replayability. There is no story to be told, no interest to be held, nothing.

I don't actually blame Valve. The game was what we thought we wanted. Valve's just trying to keep everyone happy. One of the things that did shy me away was the procrastination in getting the patches out, so that was their fault, but other than that, I don't think they royally screwed anyone.

Yeah I'm not boycotting the game. I'm not buying it because the first game was a big let down for me. After two days I just wasn't interested anymore. The gameplay is too repetitive, there aren't enough weapons, etc.

I'll jump on this too, my friends and I have pretty much all but stopped playing since early spring. We occasionally join a game, but that usually ends poorly and lasts no more than 20-30 minutes.

I think L4D was/is a great game. It is the game I pick up to blow off some steam when I am agitated or stressed out.

Mowing down a horde of zombies with the automatic shotgun is a joy that has no rival in any other game.

It was a bit overpriced at launch, though. I think $39.99 would have been a more appropriate price for the scope of the game.

If they ever release both games on one disc to the tune of $39.99 I might bite, but I hated so much about L4D that I can't see L4D-2 making my mind change

what's up with the box of cereal the guy is carrying? "Now comes with two scoops of black people"?! heh

awesome game

Lost all credibility there. I'm not boycotting the game, I might get it when it's bargain-bin (if ever), but I was sufficiently disappointed with the steaming pile of mediocrity that was the first game to know I won't be buying the sequel they started developing within months of releasing the first despite the many exploits, bugs and imbalances.

"MMMNMNNNNHHGHHHGH BOYCOTTERS ARE DUM NOBODY'S ENTITLED TO BLITHER"

NOBODY SAID THEY WERE, THEY JUST SAID THAT VALVE HAD GONE ABOUT THINGS IN A SHITTY FASHION AND THAT IT DIDN'T INSTIL CONFIDENCE IN PEOPLE.

Dummies.

boycotting and being uninterested in playing the sequel to a game that was so-so and lacking content are two different animals.

Theyre assuming that everyone not buying/preodering the second is boycotting it because they loved the first game, but have some sort of political or moral reason for not buying the second game.

As much as I enjoy ctrl+alt+del. He's a douche who buys games because being into videogames is cool. Promotes a WoW expansion as being the end all be all of gaming then turns around and whines about it being the same repetitive crap the last one was.

Sorry Mr. CAD but sometimes you're just an AD for game X who promotes gamer elitism and you annoy me.

My problem is that as stated above, they never released any additional campaigns, and Crash Course? That was an freaking JOKE. I'm not boycotting it Per se' but I certainly won't be purchasing it at full price... I got L4D at 25 bucks, and I *MIGHT* get L4D at 25 bucks, but that's certainly not a given.

Im no boycotter. Got the first, plan to get the second. That being said, its not so cut and dry as you try to claim it. Sure you can keep on playing L4D1. But they promised more than they have given for the game. And moved some of it over to L4D2, and then want to charge you for it. What company doesnt like to make money? But there is something to be said in keeping your word, and making money the right way.

I was in Target the other day and there was a young mother in front of me in the checkout line. Her daughter kept screaming, "I want a slushie, you said I could have one!" The mother responds back calmly, "I'm sorry but not now." The child goes into turbo-obnoxious mode demanding that she is promised a slushie for next time. The mother just stares at her and shouts, "I don't have to promise you anything!"

Terrible analogy, but it somehow fits. Just a little.

Whoever wrote the comic is a retard, they completely fail to understand why L4D2 was boycotted, did they even read the manifesto on the steam user group?

The CAD comic is also completely missing the point.

1. While the additional content to l4d was anemic at best when l4d2 was announced, I sincerely doubt that there would have been a big uproar if Valve would have announced l4d2 as an expansion rather than a full-retail game. Additional characters, campaigns, and minor gameplay/engine tweaks aren't really justification for a sequel imo.

2. He tries to bring up sport game franchises which is quite a reach in my opinion, as the people who buy those games year after year are probably not the ones unhappy with l4d2. Similarly, you'll never see me willing to pay $10 for a map pack.

The third frame just returns to my point 1. I have zero respect for Tim Buckley so I'm not really surprised that he tries to marginalize reasonable opinions.

L4D felt like I was playing the same level over and over again, just with different scenery. I'll probably pick up l4d2 when it hits the $10 mark.

Not really. Try thinking.

L4D was the shortest game I played. Good thing they did a free weekend thing where I played though all the missions which the game only lasted like 3 hours.

aww i shouldve done that, i bought it for 15 dollars and got bored of it after a few hours, too repetitive.

After realizing how idiotic this move was, they finally released some free stuff only because it was going to cost them some sales.

Aside from everything else, for people to really believe that takes a massive, massive omission in forgetting about Valve Time and how slowly they operate. Whatever they do has pretty obviously been in the pipe for a while, good or bad.

I really don't see why people seem to be so upset about people not buying the game. I played and enjoyed it for about a week but the game just seems incredibly shallow, especially for what i've come to expect from valve.

I have bought other valve games upfront secure in the fact that there would be a great community and lots of updates and continued support for years to come. I think that's what left a lot of people disappointed, a sequel so soon to a game that never had much added to it.

I won't be buying the sequel as it seems it will have the tedious game play and lack of variety of the first.

I payed $25 for L4D a few months back. I played it more than any game I've played in a while. Perhaps I'm a shallow gamer who gets enough kicks out of shooting zombies. I got my $25 worth imo. If L4D2 gets good reviews and I get my $25 (because I'll wait for a sale) worth again. I won't be upset.

hahah now with 2 scoops of black people.... hilarious.

I have read the main reasons to boycott L4D2 and it all makes me laugh. I couldn't disagree more with the boycotters and their meaningless complaints and grips will fall only on each others ears and result in nothing but lost time and effort. But I guess with nothing else to do with life and time there is no opportunity cost associated with the boycott.

I feel l4d was lacking as far as quantity of content (more maps, weapons, infected, etc) but I'm definitely not going to boycott l4d2 (I'm also not going to run out and blindly buy it at $50 either)

Sounds like the little girl needs five across the eyes and no supper. Maybe throw in a dragon kick for good measure.

Survival mode, a new campaign, adding vs to the original levels that didn't have it, those weren't free? Those, especially survival/vs, came before l4d2 was announced.

They GAVE free updates.

dude I'm glad I bought l4d and I'll be glad to buy the second all because of...... PILLS HERE youtube videos hahahahahahhahaahahhaaha. It's more entertaining then the game.

I don't know where you all are getting this.

My group put at least 200 hours into L4D, and we still play it today. Zombies, 4 guys stressed from work, entertainment is HAD in so many ways. We're all getting L4D2, and we'll enjoy it just as much.

1. They are a company that has to make money. I think most people will agree.

2. They pulled some shenanigans and people are a little upset. I can see why.

If it was one of the typical studios (EA), I would be pissed, although I'd expect it as par for the course. With Valve, I think stuff like this is rare, and look what they've done, for free, for TF2.

I'll cut them some slack on this one. Of course, I'm going to wait to see how LFD 2 is before I buy it.

i'll prob buy it once it's on a weekend deal. I don't have anything against releasing v2 so soon considering I got L4D w/ the valve complete pack.

Just a bit of a correction but in terms of additional content there was only one true update before the announcement and nobody cares about survival.
