Radeon 5850 Availabilty

I have to say I like Kyle's little birdie :D - You guys didn't hear anything lol

Kudos to Kyle and Brent. That was sweet... right on the money with timing and reviews. Very appreciated.

Also I have to say this Ati launch has been one of the best orchestrated launches I have seen in a long time.

Same here---- I like Kyle's little birdie as well!!! :D

Funny, I didn't even see the birdie until you guys mentioned it. I've been following this thread and a few others for days waiting for the links to drop. Didn't even think to check the front page :p

So is everyones order sitting in processing??

Status: Submitted - Your order has been successfully submitted. Your credit/debit card has not yet been charged. Please allow 1-2 business days for your order to process and ship.

Man I even did rush processing. I wonder if they even have them in stock yet.

No, my status is "charged". It went to that after a few minutes.

I ordered at 5:50 PM central and my order is still sitting at processing. I did rush processing as well. Hopefully it goes out tomorrow.

Newegg update: (Chat is live now)
8:27:45 PM PDT Sabrina says, Your order has not been delayed. The payment authorization has been approved and your order will be processed soon.

Think they are just catching up on orders, interesting to say the least. Or maybe i got put into another process because I was originally declined. (CC Fraud protection)

I got my order 3:43 pst, and it is still in processing.

How much do you think these cards will overclock by and how much it'll improve in games?

looks more like either Newegg anticipated or all early adopters jumped on the HD 5870 bandwagon so much so as to weaken initial demand for the HD 5850.

I chose to go with the HD 5870 mainly for the most powerful single GPU solution for 3 monitor Eyefinity.

Good luck to all with their HD 5850 purchases. :)

Ditto. My 5870 is humming along nicely. The 5850 is still a fine video card though.

IF you're going crossfire, a couple of 5850's for $520 is faster than a single 5870. What I wonder is how does 5850CF compare to GTX295? I think they'd win, since each 5850 is faster than a GTX 285, right?

Why would you do rush processing after 12 noon? What a waste

I did rush to ensure it goes out tomorrow. If you read the website it says please allow 1 to 2 days to complete transaction. $2.99 is a small price to pay to reduce the risk of having to wait an additional day to finish building my new system.

My order still says processing but my credit card does show the charge pending. Last week I ordered some parts from Newegg and it completed processing within minutes after the order. And that order was placed late at night.

So much for the little birdie for me. I didn't get a chance to check out this thread until now and it's OOS at the Egg now. :( At least I can get an auto notify now that it's actually on their website.

Yep completely agree, the rush processing has helped me in situations out side the normal "by noon" deadline. Newegg usually steps up. I ordered a Mobo, RAM, and HD @ 3:25 last week, next day w/ rush. Had it on my door step less than 24 hours later.

I really hope they saved stock for those orders that are still processing... this is very concerning.

I don't know why some of you are sweating it. I've never seen NE pull a ZZF and take orders for stock they didn't have. I'm sure it'll be fine.

@ rush processing - rush processing is included for free on all preferred account orders. It's worth using a NE card just for that, even if you're going to pay it off immediately.

NE is 10 times better than ZZF at showing what's in stock or not

I waited until today and paid the price..Newegg is sold out...:(

I wasn't worried but for those who are, my order placed at 6:55pm EST last night (w/ free rush processing) now shows as shipped. Wasn't just the card, either.

Give the Egg a week and I am confident there will be plenty of HD 5850 stock and more variety of brands if the current HD 5870 situation is a baseline.

I have a feeling this launch was a sign of things to come, it was a fake non-soft launch for 2 days, then soft launch for a week. They tricked reviewers into not saying it was a soft launch. Thoughts?

How in the world are you calling it a soft launch when people are getting Hardware into their computers? All you need is persistence and a little luck and you can easily land one of these graphics cards. The 5850 availability is going to be a little lower initially because... it hasn't been out as long as the 5870. Also the price point is more attractive for the 5850 so you're likely competing with more buyers to get it.

I think they are limiting the numbers of cards released for those that are ready and willing to spend more money for this technology. This also give vendors time to sale off their remaining HD4000 series technology. So yeah. I'm sure it's a soft launch.

Hopefully by Christmas there will be hot deals on 5000 series cards.

Give it a week and the price will probably slide a couple bucks also and maybe you'll get free shipping too.

Isn't that part of the definition of a soft launch though? Limited enough supply so some people say they have received it, but then a delay in restocking? This is what happened with the ps2. That, opposed to a paper launch.

^ waiting for the XFX too! Noticed that they offer a 30 day return on these though and not the 5870's? Curious to the reasoning?

Some Sapphires just popped up on on NewEgg...

Just looked at it. Still in stock. Limit of 2 per customer. So hard to resist ordering. I'm sure i could break 30,000 in 3dmark with 2 in xfire. Of course I'd probably have to upgrade my PSU. :D

Awesome card.

$259.99 and it comes with a free download of Dirt 2 once it is available.

Pricing is good and high chance of customer satisfaction.

^ waiting for a lifetime warranty vs a 2 year warranty is being paranoid? I would rather be a little patient on this considering the difference.
