Radeon 5850 Availabilty

I've been hearing conflicting reports of when the 5850 is supposed to be released. Is is supposed to be shipping at the beginning of this week, or early October??
 
No one knows for sure

According to what ive read from reviews of the 5870, and retailers such as ZZF. My best educated guess is that these cards will probably ship Thursday / Friday.

That's what I'm seeing, though the only cards with dates is one at zzf, and one at mwave. Newegg hasn't put anything up, nor tigerdirect......
 
They'll be released this week. In fact, [H] will have a review posted by Wednesday if I remember correctly.

With AMD's recent release schedules, it's been that as soon as the NDA is lifted, E-tailers start selling. Granted, it'll probably be like the 5870 release where there is limited stock and they sell out extremely quick. So, if you're not fast enough, you very well could have to wait well into October before you can get one.

I thought the nda was removed for both of the cards. The only NDA was on the benchmarks on the 5850. If that is the case, then the cards will ship on Tuesday or Wednesday....
 
The only 5850 reviews I've seen have been 5870s that have been modified to the specs. While the info on the card may be released, no true benchmarks have been put out by any respectable websites. It does seem a little strange though....

It does seem strange......though we should know soon enough.....
 
I dont think there is an NDA on the 5850. There have been several press releases from manufacturers stating the launch of both cards. Fudzilla had an article about how ATI decided to use more RV870s on the 5870 than the 5850.
 
Yup there's an NDA on the 5850 currently. Don't expect to be able to buy them until the NDA has been lifted.

And the expiration of this NDA is Tuesday, or Wednesday???

Edit: I remember reading that [H]'s review will be up on Tuesday 29th around 11pm???

I wouldn't really trust ZZF right now when it comes to the Radeon 5850 or 5870...

Edit - Yeah, looking at the page for it itself, they're considering it a "pre-order" and saying that it'll ship in early October.
 
I'm having a feeling that we won't see the 5850 until Wednesday (Maybe late Tuesday, if lucky). MicroCenter hasn't listed either the 5870 or the 5850 on their site.

Technically tomorrow, Sept. 30th at 12:01 am Eastern time, ours will go live at exactly 12:01 am Eastern.

LOL the antenna is the most hated picture of the week :D

I really want to put my wallet on one of those 5850's I have this feeling will be the real bang for the buck.

Agreed, I wonder what an overclocked 5850 will do up against a stock 5870. With these voltage options it might get interesting.

Unfortunately I hit CCC limitations on OC, didn't have time to investigate hacks for third party utilities in this evaluation. Retail cards we will be sure to unlock the OC potential.
 
Anyone know for sure how much $$ these are supposed to be selling for?
