I jumped into my 4870x2 real quick when it came out and thought it was great at first then ran into issues later. Before I take another jump I am curious about the issues everyone is having and also if you found a way around your issue let us all know.

Only issue I have so far is I DON"T HAVE MINE UNTIL MONDAY!

HAHA.. yeah I figured I would get a couple of comments like this. Saw a guy on newegg getting blue screens so it had me thinking I wonder what everyone else is running into.

Turns out I get mine Tuesday not Monday :-( Dam UPS!

Card is MASSIVE, if you have a small case (like me) be prepared for a major headache trying to make it fit. I am still not sure how to run it in my lian li v350

My only issue is with game developers making games only demanding enough for consoles!

Nothing yet, but like other people have mentioned - it's giant. I had to shift some of my cabling around in my case to make sure it fit properly.
Other than that no problems at all with any of my games.
I've put in quite a few hours into Batman: Arkham Asylum and it's done an amazing job at keeping the game at a solid 60fps pretty much the whole time.

The 5870 works like a dream at stock speeds. However I am noticing big time FLICKER issues when I OC it above stock. :( I have the XFX brand one. I'm not sure if it's a driver issue or a hardware issue, if it's hardware, I might have to RMA!

Since mine pretty much flew through everything I threw at it, I just kept mine clocked at stock speeds. My 920's clocked at 3.2 (so a little lower than yours), but I'd guess whatever numbers you're getting will be in the same ballpark for me.

Ok, so I might be posting in here soon as well. I Just bit on a Power Color 5870. I gotta figure out which driver to run. I heard there is an MSI driver that seems to be working good. I got 280$ for my old 280 so I think I did ok :)

This was posted a couple days ago. Haven't had a chance to try it yet, though. My 5870 arrived today and it's waiting for me at home. This day needs to go by faster!

Mine flickers at Stock Speeds but manually overiding the fan speed a notch higher and the flickering textures go away. I am going to wait a few weeks before RMA for fear of not getting an immediate replacement from Newegg.

Mine does as well when I try to oc even just a bit. At stock speeds no issues at all even after playing straight through crysis for 8 hours at max settings. Once OC be it the ram or gpu, tons of flickering. It's not a temp issue. My guess is drivers, time will tell

Stutter in area transitions in Crysis.

Stutters in NWN2 when turning the camera outside. Flame animations have giant flickering blocks above them. (Although fixed with the MSI RC7 driver). The game is poorly optimized but still, the performance is worse than an 8800GT.

AA enabled in Resident Evil 5 gives you black screen in cutscenes.

Early adopters always pay this price whether it be Nv or AMD(except refreshes of course). My guess is it will be a month or two b4 the majority of bugs get stamped out for the AAA titles launched over the last year and a half give or take.

Ive already read a lot of ppl having no issues in Crysis including the reviews. I wonder whats wrong. Are you running a single one? What brand?

yeah im in the same boat as you.. if i plan to get one i have to switch my systems because theres no way the card will fit in my antec 300 case.. hell my 8800GT barely fits.. guess its a good thing i ended up buying the xclios windtunnel case even with all of its problems..

Yea, biggest issue is the card is just too damn long. CM scout cases can't fit them. Had to go back to my old Lian LI case and take out the HD cage to make it fit. That goofy intake and shroud covering the end is the problem. If those things weren't there it'd probably fit.

EDIT: Updated pic so Jeremeyshaw wont ask me about my Pink cables again! :)

That's a very clean looking system. I wish my cable management skills were half what yours are.

look at his northbridge heatsink . i would say asus maximus formula.. they come with redish pink cables..

My setup is different now then that pic. Actually the cable management is much better now. Blue SATA cables look much better :) That board was a Rampage Forumula X48 I ended up ditching for a better clocking UD3P Gigabyte.

There's some nice cable management......I don't have really any cable management in my rig....

Thx! Case is big but still a pain to cable. You guys ever want to help your temps make sure you get some good cable management going. It will improve the airflow through your case.

Arrgh I have to RMA my Sapphire HD 5870 back to Newegg

The texture flickering and polygon flashing is getting worse and worse. Even my initial temporary fix of increasing fan speed isn't working anymore.

Luckily I have a 7 day business trip next week so hopefully Newegg will be able to turn one around before I get back.

In what games ?

I have a Gigabyte versision and all seems well, no problems with temps, oc, but if i put super sample AA in Valve games, it doesnt look right. Blurry or something, not unplayable, but noticeable. Also, my chief complaint is that my old 4870 gave me the option of setting my refresh rate to 120+ at certian resolutions, but now 85 is the max no matter what. Cant even force it. Early driver bugs, has to be. Next official CAT driver should really do wonders for the little things. Overall, a great card with no major problems.

Glad to see all the positive feedback about the card. I have a feeling when the 5870x2 comes out the shit will hit the fan and we will see more issue threads. Back when I had a 4870 I never had any issues with it. Think I will stick to the single GPU cards from now on.
