IEEE/MSDNAA 2 copies of Win7 pro for $32

How long is it taking people to hear back from them and get into the system?

Signing up for ACM and then opting into MSDN AA took me about 48 hours. I downloaded Windows 7 Pro and Visio 2007 last night! I could have used that copy of Visio last semester...

Question, it says you can install it once. Does that mean if my computer crashes or HD dies, I can't reinstall it again? One time install? Or just licensed for one computer.

Sadly I didn't do ACM, I went the IEEE route seeing as it has more to do with my career choice and am interested in checking some of the stuff out.

so, paid my student membership ($32)

now what? after a couple of days, I get admission to the MSDNAA??
do they send an email inviting me to browse the available downloads?

I've seen the IEEE Spectrum hanging around work. Now, I need to find a copy and see who's been receiving it... and thus who that I work with is already an IEEE member. :p

After 8 days or so, you receive an email with your login and password to get your software.

Took two days for me. It arrived and I'm about to install 7 x64 on my desktop.

no email yet, so I guess I'll be in the "8 days or so" category, instead of the "two days for me" group.

(anxiously awaiting access)

I don't have a program coordinator for MSDNAA because I go to a community college. So if I need to format because I changed motherboards and reinstall Win7 I won't be able too???

i signed up sunday...... and i just got a email from them being accepted into msdnaa system..

windows 7 here i come.

for guys they havent accepted yet, its probably something up with your credit card or payment taking a long time to process...

For those who havent received their email yet, there's a support and help email link on the page. Email them and you'll usually get your log-in within a day or so.

Yea, I sent in a quick inquiry last night will see if that helps. Still have had no luck so far.

CC already shows payment for membership, so that's not it.

Not sure otherwise why some get email so quick, and others longer.
Maybe it takes longer to verify student enrollment?? (if they even do?)

I'll wait the 8 days, then contact them. Hmm, is that 8 days or 8 business days?

So just to clarify, Windows 7 is still available through IEEE? As in, they didn't pull it like ACM did?

NO, Windows 7 (English) has been pulled from the IEEE MDSNAA list.

Foreign versions still show at the moment, but the "announcements" at page top say Windows 7 is currently not available.

Okay. So are the Windows 7 keys available on IEEE or not? if they are, how many keys are available. I might pull the trigger, because $32 and from some other thread somebody said they had 10 keys up for grabs, I might pull the trigger.

/facepalm

OK...assuming they ARE still there...how long after signing up did it take to be able to access the keys?

Oh yeah, good question. I forgot about the wait time to actually get in arrgghhh ACM took 24 hours for me, hope IEEE is similar or less time to wait. Can somebody sign in and actually confirm that they do or don't have any windows 7 keys and if you do how many available

Can anyone confirm that they've still got Win7 available? And why does everyone say membership is $32? It says $27 for me...

Logged in to check, get this message: Windows 7 products are unavailable at this time. Please check back. (17-Sep-2009).

they pulled it out like acm.org did. theres an thread around 100+ pages on slickdeals.net
but maybe it will come back on oct 22? who knows. im lucky i grabbed one copy of win 7

Yeah... makes me wish I grabbed more keys but I really don't have a use for them, and I'm not the type of guy who gives them out (since that's not really the purpose of MSDNAA). I just hope a few months down the line I don't get myself a netbook or another machine and find myself needing another Win7. :(

My programming instructor told me to join IEEE and those sharks at fatwallet and slickdeals ruin this for everyone.

Thanks, saved me a couple of bucks as I might've tried it on a whim otherwise w/o checking SD or FW... Had the page open on the checkout cart on my netbook since the other day, heh. So glad I got in on the ACM deal when the gettin' was good tho.

Yup, gone now.

I got access to my school's MSDNAA account at the beginning of the semester (I found out after signing up for IEEE that my school has it now) and it still has win7 on it.

So it looks like IEEE / ACM is probably going to look more carefully at folks signing up. I should have grabbed a few more keys while I had the chance. Rampant abuse I guess. At least I still have 2 keys available via my school's MSDNAA now.

I might pull the trigger, because ... somebody said they had 10 keys up for grabs

As of yesterday evening they were still there. I got at least 10 keys plus vista and xp keys.

And you're gonna use well over 15 Windows keys for what??
You do realize that these are NOT FOR RESALE licenses.

... and those sharks at fatwallet and slickdeals ruin this for everyone.

Exactly... sharks like the above.

I've got no doubt that Microsoft is the one responsible for pulling WIndows 7 from the program. I'm sure they allocated only a certain number of licenses to be distributed.

I think they SHOULD look closer at the applicants to VERIFY their student status. Just my 2 pennies.

Are you a student, and can verify that you're a student? Because I can.

Also, no need to PMS on me because you couldn't get any keys, deal was dead couple pages ago from IEEE and ACM. Go pick up the official MS offer if you can.

WOW, Beta... defensive much?? Guess I touched a nerve there.

Yes... I am a full time student.

Yes... I got into the IEEE assoc. in ample time to acquire a WIndows 7 license before they were removed.

NO... I DID NOT abuse the system by downloading one of everything I could possibly get my hands on.
I got one license for my laptop, and one license for my desktop.

Just because you are a student, doesn't mean you're not a shark.
Quit trying to use the system (illegally I might ad) to pay your tuition.

I got into ACM legitimately and download all the keys they offered. How is that abuse? Also, how am I "using" the system "illegally"? Please, refer back to my student status.

Go ahead man take the last rebuttal I won't respond, i'm not trying to get banned from your trolling.

I don't see how any legitimate student abused the system by grabbing every license he could... I'll probably be using three or four of 'em off the bat and I might find uses for the rest down the line, so I grabbed all 8 of my Win7 keys off ACM. I doubt MS really cares how many keys each individual MSDNAA member really grabs, it not like there's a warning of limited availability or something... Otherwise they wouldn't give you all the keys at once as they do.

I mean, there's still several WinXP/Vista/etc licenses and you don't see them taking those down now do ya? Because it's not an issue... If the deal died it was because of the large number of non-students that were applying for it and getting in just to get Win7 licenses.

Wow. If they didn't want you to have 8 keys, they wouldn't have put 8 keys up. Using the system illegally? I guess Microsoft better sue themselves for putting 8 keys up on MSDNAA because that is "illegal".
