BF 2 1.5 September 1st

So what do you guys think of the patch so far?

I did notice the hit detection being alot better. Easier to shoot people, but not too easy.

Like all the new maps that people are playing that came with the booster packs.

Big tank battles are sweet.

When ever I download anything from fileshack I do not show any file extension. I have to go in to where I saved the file and add .exe to get it to work, not sure why fileshack does this but it is a minor annoyance.

so, um, did anyone notice you no longer have to have the CD in while playing!

i didnt even realize that it hadnt been in the drive since i installed the patch, lol.
 
Quick question, I glanced through this thread yesterday and was looking again, but I didn't see it.
I own the Booster Packs, do I need to install them or does that large 1.9GB patch include them?\

Reason I ask is that there is a funky "install/patch/install/patch" order when you install the booster packs

No you dont need the expansions anymore, there included in the 1.50 patch.

I have the same problem. W7 x64. Did a fresh install of BF2, then SF, then 1.41, then 1.5, and bf2.exe was 0kb
 
I have Win7 x64 and had zero issues. except for BF2 Crashing when I alt tab out.
 
Installed fine and played a bit earlier. Loving the official wide screen support.

Have you try copying from Vista or Xp? I suppose ppl who run win7 also dual boot other OS as backup.
 
I like it. Back to blowing shit up. My last serious game was in sep 08. I was trying to like project reality but it was not happening. Now if EA re-releases the game for 10 dollars in digital download it will last for another 10 years like counterstrike.

That game was extremely laggy for me for no reason. It was a bit different..

I had to reinstall everything and it worked. I made sure after the vanilla install of bf2 to see if the size was 0kb, and it wasn't. Just watch the exe size after you install SF and each patch. On a side note, i downloaded the patch from fileplanet and i was thinking that the patch was corrupted, but i used the same download and it worked.

i hate flaws like that.
 
The hitboxes are nice, the widescreen support is also nice... though I still have to use the " +szx 2560 +szy 1600" command line parameter to get my native resolution, at least the FOV is correct now.

AA locks on faster now, but isn't ridiculous. An experienced pilot can still take them down, but those in AA definitely have a better chance then before.

The attack chopper's missile camera has vastly better visibility on foggy maps, much better.

Having more people playing the booster maps is awesome, love it!
 
i'll probably get back into it, changes look good. Bf2 was one of the best online games i've played.
 
which verison should i buy the complete box set or just battlefield 2 for $10 ?
the complete set is $29.99
 
About damn time. I had to completely reinstall BF2 a while back to get back to 1.41 after installing the 1.5 beta. No one was playing it and I started missing RRHOA's Jalabad server.

Some other update goodness that makes me smile:

# Players can now pass claymores by going prone
# Update the HUD on TV Guided missiles to increase visibility on maps like Dragon Valley
# Added Battlefield 2142 style prone deviation (going prone will now cause reduced accuracy for a brief period)

Bug Fixes:
# Increased the splash damage of the UH-60 (Black Hawk) guns from 0.25 to 1.5

Oh hell yeah! The Blackhawk ACOD (Arial Chariot Of Death) that they nerfed in the first patch is finally back! Ground-pounders beware, haha. Too bad they didn't give more teeth to the guns on the potato as well. This could be good for jet pilots and commanders too; a bunch of guys waiting on chopper pads make great targets.

WRT the claymore update, I wonder how this will work when climbing up a ladder with a claymore at the top?

If you get BF2 Complete essentially you're paying $20 for SF since the boosters are free in the patch. Guess what? Both BF2 and SF are $10 from the EA Store with free shipping. (SF is a digital download)

BF2 and special forces if you want 2 unlocks per rank-up ;)

otherwise, just BF2 vanilla will work.

i cant believe i ever dropped BF2 im having so much fun on the new AF/EF rotation maps.

im about 1k points to my next rank, lol

i sold my copies years ago cuz the game was buggy as hell

Claymores still kill you going up ladder
 
i think i just bought the last copy of battlefield 2 in my area at bestbuy today
its the PC CD verison and not DVD

if i decide to get SF expansion later off ea downloader will it fuck up my bf2 install if iam already patched to 1.5

I came back and all my stats were reset. Did this happened to anyone else?
 
Earlier this year, a lot of people had their accounts stat hacked so EA just reset them all. I found it irritating because my 3 star was legit and I had just gotten the 3rd star. I log in the next day to hear a drum roll and that I got promoted to 4 star and had over a million points. In fact, I think EA still hasn't fixed the stat hacking problem. Oh well, I play for fun and not shiny gold badges and medals. The only thing that irks me is that I lost all my unlocks, but its not a big deal to get the weapons unlocked again.
 
I'm reinstalling my BF2 and have a question.

The installation prompts for a DirectX 9 installation. I'm on Windows 7 right now. Do I need to install this or can I literally cancel out of the Dx9 installation? Just worried that it might screw things up.

i ran it on vista 64 ultimate and no problems.
 
Is anybody else getting this issue? The mouse cursor works fine in the BF2 menu but when you join a game, the cursor won't move(can't join a squad or spawn) unless I physically unplug and replug the USB cable back into the USB port on the motherboard.

Updated my Logitech drivers and everything runs fine with other games except Bf2. Sigh there's always an issue with EA and BF2 lol.
I am now Googling for a solution, not how I want to spend my Labor Day weekend. Oh well.
 
I keep getting random crash to desktops.. be playing for 20 minutes and bam.. outta the blue at desktop. frustrating.
 
Damn I can't believe I'm hooked on BF2 vanilla again. I've only been playing mods the last few years. That Great Wall map is really nice, I'm loving it.
 
Hmm, I'm still getting unmodified content errors when trying to connect to servers.

I did

SF
1.41
1.50

ran pbsvc and pbupdate, tried running as admin and still nothing. Sigh.
 
I can't get this game working on Vista x64 w/ a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro. As soon as I click on Audio options it crashes to desktop. If I try to load a map, it crashes to desktop (assuming when it tries to load audio for the level). Tried ALchemy and without. Can't get around this issue.
 
I am also having an X-Fi issue. The game and sound work fine but when I close BF2 I hear that Windows sound when something crashes but I get no errors. After that the sound works fine but I can not switch audio modes on the X-Fi control panel until I reboot. When attempting to switch modes, nothing happens. After rebooting everything is fine again.

It is the thrustmaster option causing this issue. I just did not go into any menus at all and was ok. Had the same problem. All controls are affected by this bug btw. If u r flying and can't control it anymore, that is why.
