I once love mediamonkey for this feature that it all this feature to fix how your music is organize but the program kept crashing..so i went back with itunes..i hate that itunes doesn't have a better organization tool...so is there a program out there that is free.?
 
windows media player? on Windows 7 its great

personnaly i use this in combination with flashrenamer / mp3Tag&rename to maintain my folder structure
 
Did you get a message when it crashed? What OS? If Vista or Win7, did you try running it in Compatibility Mode?
Did you report the crash to the MM team so it can be fixed?

Personally, I use MP3Tag (I'd use Tag and Rename if I wanted to pony up the money) to sort out all the tags. I've tried a number of different "automatic" tag fixers and nothing really worked well enough for me to just set it and forget it. In the end, I did it all manually - which, to me, is about the best way although it takes forever.

Decide on a format that you like and stick with it throughout. The tools the MP3Tag has in it (mass file rename, Amazon lookup, etc) will make the job easier. If you want to get deeper into it, there's ways to whip up scripts for it if you're doing lots of really repetitive things.

Once all the tags were fixed I loaded them up into WMP and had it rescan everything. It worked like a charm. The only caveat here is to always use a separate renaming program for MP3's as opposed to using WMP as it doesn't seem to follow a standard scheme. I never let WMP update any of the tags as I can't guarantee the results if I take those same MP3's to a different program.
 
I would try a different version of MediaMonkey. I just installed it and used it to help me get a handle on a 60K plus music collection. It took almost 24 hours to add and automatically fix tags. I am not sure if it fixed everything but it seems like a nice way to access the music rather than by folder artist album that I had setup before.
