Storm it up? or not?

I can get a blackberry storm for $99 right now as my upgrade. I'm honestly not interested in waiting anymore my motorola q is just a piece of crap and i'm stuck on a crappy LG Chocolate for the time being.

Other choices are either the HTC Ozone, or the HTC Touch pro.

All three of these can run google maps in GPS mode, which is a must for me.

The samsung Omnia is NOT an option.

Please help.
 
Go to the store and try the Storm, personally I did not like the feel of the touchscreen, but stuff like that is entirely personal.

Also, the other Blackberry's have GPS & google map capabilities.

other blackberrys have BBMaps and VZ navigator. neither of them are options (VZN costs more on top of the data plan, and BBmaps hardly works at all from what ive tried).

Also, even google claims google maps doesnt work on the curve, only the storm.
 
I would go with a Blackberry for sure over those other two.
Blackberries Effn Rule.

BTW Google maps works on the Curve just fine.
 
blackberry storm is horrible, beyond horrible. slowest blackberry interface to date.

If you are getting a blackberry.. get the curve or the tour... I call it the Hail Storm, cuz they ruined it.
 
Get the tour. Storm is a piece of crap...

yeah i ended up getting a touch pro, which i actually like. its nice for web browsing, touch screen is good, and I'm about to hack it over to windows mobile 6.5.

Saw a kids diamond yesterday that was hacked and DAMN, that phone was almost as fast as an iphone!
 
yay.... enjoy your new phone :p....

mine's on WM6.5 too (EnergyROM), pretty stable and fast for day to day use

Don't get it. If you really want it, try it out first. We had a Storm in the lab for usability testing and every single participant wanted to throw the damn thing out of the window.

EDIT: nevermind, didn't see that the purchase took place already, have fun with your new phone :)

i'm liking how customizable it is but the fact that its so slow is very hard to deal with.

just waiting to find the right Custom ROM and i should be set.

Worst comes to worse i'll go for an HTC ozone before my 30 return period is up. :/
 
I have a Storm and have very mixed feelings on it. I love the screen size and while the software is much, much more stable than what it was released with, I still experience random freezes where the phone hangs for 10-15 seconds before coming back. I'd give it a lukewarm endorsement.

on heavy usage, 2 days (massive WiFi, GPS, i don't have a data plan, so no 3G data... i set it on 3G voice though....)

on idle/light usage, i can get it to last at least 5 days...

i last charged friday night, now it's monday, 40%, medium usage...

don't go for the Ozone... seems really wide for your pants (http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/HTC-Ozone-phone-size-compare-pc_3671.html), no touchscreen really kills it..

if you think it's really slow, wait a while... my Touch Pro seems fast enough for me after customization... post any problems (here or @ XDA...i have the same handle(paperwastage) there) and i'll help resolve it....

Yea my vote would be a Tour..if that isn't an option a Curve.

Touchscreens really are overrated especially if you like texting/email. Nothing beats a Blackberry with a Keyboard.

HTC's are snazzy and cool...until you have to use WinMo and the failure that it is. Plus the Touch Pro 2 should be coming out soon.

In fact most cell phone companies will start releasing their Christmas stuff soon...1-2 months...so if you can wait it may be beneficial.

QFT, Tried every single rom for the HTC Touch Pro and no matter what I do with it I can not live day to day with it. Swapped to an iPhone and never looked back. WinMo sucks really bad.

not gunna lie though the keyboard on the touch pro is really nice
