Old problem: stuck temperature sensor E8400

Hi, I have never looked into it but found only recently that Core #1 of my E8400 (C0) is stuck on 38 degrees Celsius.
If I use Intel Burn Test however, it picks up counting from 38 degrees upwards.
When it cools down again it stucks on 38 degrees again.

Funny: BIOS own reading shows even a negative figure on start up !?

I know that this kind of issue is widely known since February 2008 already, but is there really no warranty cover for that ?
Sure, it's very minor .... I'm just wondering what other affected people thought about it.

You can see that Everest (left) & Core Temp & Real Temp show 38 degrees for core#0 (stuck) and surprisingly all three monitor programs show exact 30 degrees for core #1 .... except SpeedFan, which shows about 5 degrees too much.

no warranty for that. those probes are there to protect the cpu from overheating, not to give you accurate results at low temps.

Many 45nm Core 2 CPUs have sensors that become stuck below a certain temperature value. However, that is of absolutely no consequence, since the sensors aren't even remotely accurate below 50C or so. Just ignore your low idle temps, and use your temperature-monitoring apps for what they should be used for: an indication of whether or not your temperatures are within safe levels, not an indicator of the absolute temperature that your CPU is running at.

As Zero82z said, ignore idle temps on 45nM CPUs, they are practically meaningless as the lowest temp Intel has calibrated is TjMax which is above your maximum load temp.
The closer your temp is to TjMax, the less error there is in the reading.

My E8400 cores dont register less than 42C.

My former E7400 has both core's temp sensors stuck at 39c. Not until I stress the CPU to get hotter than that, they will stay there and not move up nor down. My current E7400 has core 1 stuck at 39 and core 2 stuck 35. They don't move until the CPU gets hotter than that. It's annoying, but doesn't affect the operation of the CPU. I used to own E8400 as well, with their temp sensors stuck at one degree or the other. And one sensor may be like 10 degrees higher than the other.
