Maybe it's just me, but does anyone ever have issues with their cards? Mine seem to start dying after a year. I'm running a BFG 9800 GTX+. The memory on it seems to be going back. It locks up on Red Alert 3 and Uprising. It didn't do this before, but started.

I decided to watercool it and throw on some ramsinks/mosfet sinks. Think it was too little, too late, as nothing has been solved. The same thing happened with my old BFG 7900 GTX.

Lifetime warranty doesn't mean much, since modification of the card will void it. Just seeing if anyone is having similiar issues with their BFG cards. I'm considering swapping to EVGA. Maybe they bin their memory differently. I don't know.

The 9800 GTX+ still works, but I can no longer run RA3 (for more than a couple minutes at any setting) or set games at higher settings. I'm stuck playing Left 4 Dead at 1920x1200 at medium settings.

I've had a 7800 GTX, an 8800 GTX, and now a GTX 280 from them, and all of them are still going strong after several years.

Maybe I'm just somehow getting the short end of the stick or something. Guess I'll just see how a eVGA GTX 275 will do.

Never had a single GPU card from BFG fail. I was running 7600GT's in SLI, one was BFG, one was EVGA. The EVGA lasted almost two years, then died. It's really toast. The BFG one still works fine.

Now with dual GPU's my experience is sadly different. My 2nd GTX 295 is now faulty. Either the second GPU in it, or the NF200 chip is bad. When SLI is disabled, it works fine. When enabled, entire patches of color are off - wrong color, often flickering. It's horrible. With only one GPU enabled it's perfect, but performance plummets, as you'd expect. They drop-shipped the first replacement when my original 295 had bad memory chips, but they're not drop-shipping this one. I have to send it in. They're covering shipping both ways, though. Their service and support is friendly and knowledgeable, but I'm very disappointed. I really haven't had a chance to "experience" what these amazing cards can offer. I feel your pain.

I get the random patches of colors too or with RA3, complete lockup. As I tend to void warranties, there's no sending back.

I was contemplating on an Asus card, as my 8800 GTS 512 is humming along perfectly in my other comp.

I ran a 7800GTX from BFG for over 4 years before switching to 2 280GTX cards in SLI recently. All have performed flawlessly for me.

I had a BFG 8800GT memory go bad. However, I just installed a 6800GT OC into my HTPC, and it works great.

Either way, BFG has one of the quickest RMA processes I've ever dealt with.

I wish companies like these would hook up the the DIY enthusiasts. But guess you can't cover those who modify the cards.

I remember RMAing my 5950 Ultra back in the day. My watercooling leaked onto the card and fried it. BFG replaced it. I even told them about the accident, but they didn't seem to care, so long as the card was unmodified. Since, then, I stopped using stupid hose clamps. Zip ties all the way.

If the memory on the card is already causing artifacts and instability at stock speeds then chances are there was something wrong with it from the start, trying to mod it to make it better won't help matters... I'm sure if you slap the stock cooler on it BFG wouldn't have an issue taking it back though. If you epoxy'd those ramsinks on or something that might be tough... BFG didn't give me any trouble when my old 6800 OC started acting up after about two years, I had slapped an AS NV Silencer on it but I just put the stock heatsink back on and set it out, the RMA process was quite painless.

No, I thermal adhesive the ramsinks and mosfet sinks on there. I lowered the clock speed on the memory to see if I could slide by the problem also. That didn't help. I'm not all that worried about RMAing the card.

I just wanted to see how many ppl had issues with BFG. Help decide whether or not I give BFG one last try for a new vidcard.

I don't think any of the primary resellers of NV cards would experience more part failures than any other, most of them are probably sourcing the memory from the same places, using reference designs, and using the same GPU chips obviously. It's probably those secondary resellers which are usually pushing the clocks higher w/o binning as aggressively that run into more trouble...

If anything I think the incentive to go w/the likes of BFG/EVGA/XFX is always there due to the nice warranties, 'course if you're gonna mod the heck out of the card that's a moot point, but I would've RMA'd it before modding it to fix a problem you had no part in causing.

Their service overall is quite excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another product from them. That is, unless they send the 295 back and it STILL has problems.

Supposedly their rebate service is top notch as well. I was contemplating biting on the Newegg deal around here.

I don't doubt BFG's support. It was exceptional the first time I used it.

I was thinking the chips weren't fried, only overheating. That's why I tried slapping on the ramsinks. I've had a similiar issue before on my old PNY 6800 GT. Course that's cause stock cooling wasn't enough for the overclock.
