Logitech Harmony 880 (Recert.) $89.99 w/Free Shipping Newegg

i just got a recert. 550 from the Egg, best 50 dollars I've spent recently. So much better than using 4 or 5 different remotes (TV, cablebox, audio system, DVD, PC)

notice even though this is recertified, it's still gets the newegg 1 year return policy.

whats the delay like on yours? i set one up for dad and i dont think he likes it. it took 15 seconds to turn off 4 devices, i remember it being slow as hell, and i told him "im sure we can make it faster, let me know if it bothers you" but never heard about it again. i know my 650 can send signals at 100ms apart... it flicks off all my stuff in about 2sec flat, no problems.

Bought an 880 for my parents and they've like it ever since. It makes them think that they're still using a 'remote' - if you know what I mean.

It take like 3 or 4 seconds. I hit power and everything goes click, click, click...

It even changes the inputs and what not during that time.

Harmony One is so much freaking better than all the older models...I suggest waiting until those go one sale again...definitely worth the extra money. Otherwise, buy the cheap ass $50 ones from Amazon..

not that great of a remote or a deal, got mine brand new for 75 from amazon after MIR 6 months ago. honestly though there is an inherent delay in this remote that even setting all delays to 0 will not help. ALTHOUGH not too many people notice this miniscule delay but it annoys me, most annoying when browsing DVR menu/guide, original DVR remote is so much smoother. trust me, ive messed with the settings for hours, problem is hardware not any software settings

Does it do RF?

that is unacceptable....

Honestly most people don't find this to be a problem. Before you take one persons advice, see if you can try one out somewhere. If not, buy a cheaper one, test it and return it to get your final opinion.

Not yet, but it's so awesome that it gets a pass from me.

I use a front projector system and all of my components are hidden in a cabinet. With one button the 890 RF remote turns everything on. For me RF was not really an option I wanted to go without. Not to mention if I have the remote out of IR range I can control the radio station/volume on the receiver.

The buttons do seem slightly less responsive than the factory remote controls. I have sort of put up with this and it is only a pain when you are trying to switch through channels fast.

in for 1 thanks OP

+1 I'm in too. Thanks OP.

Yeah, the delay doesn't really bother me all that much. I haven't even set the delay to 0 yet. Still working with defaults. It's been a great remote already. I just need to tweak the remote to control my olevia tv better.

There was an RF module thingy for the older Harmonys. It would probably work with the One, but I haven't looked it up.

You can hook it up, but if you do not have RF built into the remote it will only act as an IR repeater.

I'll have to agree..and I've had mine over a year. Beyond the delay thing, mine will occasionally freak out and require rebooting to straighten things out...and after a few months the battery won't hold a charge very long. Also, the buttons are designed more for style than ease of use. Bottom line is that the concept (web programmable, recharge base) is great but the execution is less than stellar.

I'll add my two cents...

I've been using the 880 for over two years now I think. I use to control an HTPC and my DVR/cable. I've used it on both RCN and Comcast cable boxes. It's great to be able to switch between the PC, to cable tv, to the xbox360, to my Wii... without having to worry about changing receiver settings, tv settings, etc.

The delay has never bothered me. As for battery life... mine is STILL going strong. I don't keep it on the cradle and it holds a charge for a LONG time.

I do wish the buttons were more distinct from each other but never really have a problem with it. But my pile of remotes was ridiculous and imo it was well worth the purchase price (I got it on sale (though not this cheap!) when I got mine)
