24 inch 2ms monitor suggestions ~100-300

so i bought one of those soyo refurbs, and i got a stuck pixel. It doesn't show up in browsing much (except on black backgrounds) and in games it's maddening. Aside from that it was actually really nice. That being said it's getting passed to my father who doesn't game much and has bad eyesight anyway.

I need a 24 inch monitor, or would prefer one, i have already let go of my 2232bw samsung so I need to buy soon. I need a 2ms response time, because I am one of those small sets of people who are actually bothered by 5.

I primarily game so input lag is a huge issue, however I also do web design, 3d model texturing, and some video work at professional/semi professional level. I already have a graphic designer level crt for when i really need to be anal about colour, so I take take a minor hit, though i really at least want a decent enough reproduction for what will probably be a TN panel (for example, my gf's lg doesn't reproduce as deep and vivid colour as my sammy or the soyo). I know TN cannot reproduce same as an ips or mva, but i'll eat it for the better response time.

Anyway I hear a lot of differing opinions on things so I'd like to hear some other graphics snobs opinions. I know the first opinion is don't get a TN for what I want, but i'll compromise because i realize that no LCD will do everything perfect, Gaming is #1 but colour production should at least be at the better end of what a TN can do.

I got about 300 to spend.

Cliffs:

low input lag critical
best colour reproduction i can get in an TN or at least similar to a 226bw 2232bw (passable when i dont feel like hooking up my graphic design crt)
gaming top priority, deep vivid colour 2nd
I am anal as hell about stuck/dead pixels.

I read a lot of reviews before I bought my current monitor at the beginning of this week.
All the reviews said ~ Color means M-PVA or IPS, and response means TN.
In the end I went to the shop with some real time gaming content recorded on my rig and ran it on all the monitors I considered until I made up my mind.
I couldn't find really big differences between the TN panels I considered - they were all adequate for my gaming, surfing and music editing needs.
So i chose the one whose colors and connectivity I like the most(VGA, HDMI, DVI) , and from a company I trust.
When I was reading up on monitors I found the most professional reviews came from:
Prad
BeHardware
and XbitLabs.
Anandtech also has a few.

I'm very happy with my new Samsung (my boss got an Ultra expensive IPS Dell and the response in games is awful, but his colors are awesome).
So check out reviews until you make up your mind. This is one of those areas where reviews are mostly amateurish or Cnet type reviews...so good luck.
Quick look at Newegg narrows your options down a bit

yeah like i said i'm coming off a 22inch sammy which was regarded as the best jack of all trades.

I know what TN will get me colour wise, however i have seen varying degrees within the TN's, my old samsung had about the best colours you can get from a TN, my gf's lg has even better response than my samsung, but colours were not as rich.

When i talk colour this is relatively speaking, the best TN is still going to suck compared to m-pva or ips and I'm ok with that. Like I said i have a good crt for colour work if i need it, but since my main rig is SLI, i get to pick one at a time, so if i can "get away" with using my lcd for everything i prefer doing so.
 
Was a little surprised to see the Gateway 2400 in those reviews. I own the Gateway 2400 and it does have a sharp brilliant picture but it also has the notorius 3 in black light bleed ring that Gateway has spent so much time denying exists. From the Gateway thread there were very few owners who didnt develop it also. I believe the Gateway 2401 that replaced the 2400 also had the severe BLB. Would have to research that one a little more. I prefer the glossy screens for the rich dynamic colors. Been looking at the HP
W2558HC but it would definitley need to be calibrated. Seems to have a heavy blue tint.

i actually used that thread to buy my samsung 2232 when i did.

I don't see how they are contradictory, all I am looking to do us increase my size and keep the same quality of image that I have now. I'm not looking for miracles here. Everyone seems to think i want like s-ips colours on on a fast response panel. I know it doesn't work that way. I just really want to avoid the washed out look like my gf's lg had where everything is so bright it's nuts.

I don't know why so many people post that response. He is simply asking that, among the set of 24" LCD monitors with good response time, which ones have the best color reproduction.

This is a valid, and meaningful question unless all 24" LCD monitors with good response time have exactly the same color reproduction. I have seen pretty decent TN monitors, and I have seen very, very crappy TN monitors. Not all TN monitors have the same performance.
 
BenQ V2400W.BenQ is known to manufacturer good quality TN. I love my V2400W and many people do regard this as one of the best TN monitors. 24" w, 2 ms, and extra slim. $319 free shipping on BenQ's website
 
The G2400WD has 1:1 pixel mapping, dynamic contrast (disabled by default, which is good) and overdrive (disabled by default, which is good), while the G2400W does not.

As near as I can tell from googling, the G2400WT adds an adjustable height stand to the G2400WD, and is otherwise the same.

For your criteria, the G2400WD or G2400WT is probably the best choice. The G2400WD is listed on the Anandtech LCD Thread as the best 24" monitor in the Hardcore Gaming category.
 
yeah all my research keeps pointing at the benq, now i need to figure out where to buy it from because if i get dead pixels its going back as many times as it needs to.

I returned the G2400wd I ordered from the BenQ store because of 3 stuck green pixels and the white screen had a blueish tint to it that I could not adjust out.

I had to pay for shipping back to them and only got refunded the cost of the monitor. I called them when I only saw the credit for the monitor on my cc and b!tched about not getting a full refund and so they gave in a refunded me the shippping cost to me but still got nothing for return shipping.
 
I am also looking for a good 'hardcore gaming' 24". My Sony 21" CRT is starting to flicker...

everything i have read that if you are going 24 inch then go with the benq or the samsung. The benq is slightly better, but the samsung is good as well.

if you are going 22 inch there is an lg with 0 input lag, but the colours take a LOT of messing with to get right and they still don't look as vibrant as a good samsung or the benq
 
There's no such thing as an LCD with zero input lag -- all LCDs lag at least one frame (16ms), in so far as I know.

Nope, that's not correct. Zero is doubtful, but a handful are almost always zero. Though, if you add the full response time (which you should, the crystals have to respond before you can see anything) it's definitely not zero anymore.
