LG announces one 22" and two 24" IPS monitors

Hopefully these will come to Australia, the selection of 24" monitors really sucks at the moment.
 
I keep emailing this Mr. Seib from LG about availability outside of Europe and he never replies back. I also have emailed LG Display in NA several times, so far nothing.

Mr Seib is from LG Germany. Maybe you should try contacting someone from your country/area.

anyway, when I emailed Seib about this he forwarded the email to a pr from my country and that person replied to it. so I guess he did the same here.
 
I spoke to an LG rep and he stated that these monitors are exclusively for the European market. I asked what would be released in N.A. and he said the LG W53 series.

I guess Dell might be getting the panel in volume for the mythical 2409WA.
 
What is LG thinking? Now we just have to hope that Dell is the one to step up and release a 24" e-IPS.
 
Pathetic, but I guess we should have expected this given their history.
 
What's the upshot on 16:9 LCDs anyway? You just end up with less working space... It's not like movies are gonna look any better on a 16:9 screen than a 16:10 screen, on a good majority of movies you won't even get rid of the black bars since they're shot at even wider angles. Is it just so they can plaster "true 1080p screen" all over the box? Worst gimmick ever...

I noticed Costco was clearing out two different 1920x1200 24" Samsung LCDs ($210 & $220, while the 22" T220 is still being sold at $200) and bringing in a 23" 16:9 panel that's going for $300-ish, heh, go figure. They're all TN screens too so it's not like there's any reason for the huge price gap, I think they had some overpriced 16:9 21" screen as well.

Haha, awesome. It seems the general market concensus is:

Cheap Shit --> U.S.A.

Everything Else --> Everywhere Else.

Is there at least a reseller willing to overseas ship any of the W20 monitors?

That's darn right. That's almost 2:1!! I really miss 4:3 and even 5:4 (1280x1024) ratios... I'd be all over dual 1920x1536 instead of 2560x1600...

You know what a pain it is to move the mouse across dual wide screens? It's like 4:1 ratio nearly.
 
You could always install UltraMon and enable the hotkey to 'move mouse to next screen', and/or the hotkey to lock mouse to current screen, and/or the hotkey to center mouse on screen... :D Those three are the only hotkeys (or the only features even) I miss from UltraMon after going w/DisplayFusion instead... Though UM still used a bit less resources, but DF seems less buggy and farther ahead of the curve as far as W7 compatibility. Much better wallpaper functionality too, FWIW.

For real. Way to go, LG. I get to maintain my running record of never having bought an LG product. Now to turn my attention back to quality manufacturers.
 
I wonder what e-ips really is. I have a 24" hp LP2475W that's an H-IPS that I will be returning. It's actually very hard to look at. has a screen door feeling i can't get past.
 
Worse construction quality (not necessarily, but with e-IPS price becomes more important then quality (like the TN monitors)), lighter backlight etc.

How can you read this "Apparently IPS monitors have been more expensive in part because they require a brighter back light unit (BLU)", and then conclude "doesn't say ... why it's cheaper"

Better light transmission == less backlight and heat == smaller power supply == production costs saved

Of course, that's all assuming the information I read was correct.
 
are there any chances for this monitor to have an A-TW polarizer ? (although I doubt it considering the price)
 
Is this model going to be available in North America? I was under the impression that it was Europe only...
 
any updates on these models?
I don't know if I should wait till july for the W2420P or just buy a dell 2209WA or a *VA 24" panel.
 
how are these panels much of an upgrade from the L246WP?

i paid $650 when the L246WP first came it and it has been an awesome monitor for me
i need a 2nd monitor but i wonder if i should get LG W2453V-PF which is 100 dollars cheaper than the new 24inch displays

Well it is a major upgrade since it uses an H-IPS panel, while L246WP has an MVA panel. You can find loads of info about these two thechnologies on the net. At this moment H-IPS is the best there is.

LG W2453V-PF uses a TN panel, so there is no way you can compare it to the new W2420P.
 
These screens appear quite nice, whats the deal with the European only limitation.
 
hey iam thinking about getting the dell 2209WA
I have a LG L246WP which has been an awesome monitor for me
but the problem is that i use this monitor in my current place in my bedroom as a HDTV and computer monitor thru the hdmi with my directtv reciever
and iam moving next weekend on the 29th and the new place is alot bigger
and i will have my own office/ computer room and will need a 2nd display
i was going to use my 24 inch for my bedroom tv and have this 22" dell for my computer monitor and maybe get better performance out of it ????
i never noticed any lag issues with the lg or anything . I know the lg consumes 85w
while the new dells use only 45watts or so. another thing is cost i really dont want to have to spend 400 dollars on another display i just want good picture quality
i would like to have 24" monitor but not over picture quality
i hope iam not making a bad decision ! maybe you guys can guide me ?
 
well i thought it about it and its better for me to get the 22" DELL 2209WA monitor
it came down to price dell is selling them for $229 now right with free shipping
thats really cheap for the a e-ips panel
i rather have that than a 24inch tn
 
i had to pay $11 tax came to $240 all said and done
still a good price for this panel
i hope its a little bit faster than my lg
