I have seen that these are supposed to come out in April... the 955, 945, and 925. Whats the latest news on these buggers?!?!

as far as i know the april 20th release date for the new phenom II's is still april 20th.. ive talk to a few Fry's employee's and they said the ship dates/receiving dates still april 18th for the new cores..

Propus is a Q2-Q3 product. You probably won't see it until later than sooner.

I sincerely hope those are not legit prices, or the 955 better match the i7920. :(

lol not a chance they are legit.. wait til they show up on newegg.. and why would it have to match i7 performance..? the i7 is under prices on purpose because intel controls everything including the only working northbridge for the processor.. thus they make profit by over pricing the northbridge platform to the board manufactures and slightly under pricing the processor to make it look like its a better deal then it actually is.. id say the 955 will probably sell for around 250ish.. cant remember what the msrp was for the processor..

because at that price if I want to upgrade to DDR3, I could get an intel mobo for under $200, and all of a sudden the price difference for a i7 setup versus a 955 setup is less than $100...and frankly when you start getting into that slim of a price difference the value proposition greatly dimishes.

and at the rate ddr3 is dropping in price it will level out again that amd is cheaper buy for the performance.. im not arguing the fact that the i7 is worse or better then the phenom II.. its just in its own nitch of the market.. i mean i could of gone out and built an i7 system for what ive payed on my amd system.. but then it comes back to whats the point.. all i do is run F@H and boinc on all my system.. it would be like having a furnace sitting next to me 24/7.. sure you could build some dirt cheap i7 rig.. but if your already spending that kind of money why bother skimping on everything.. thus you end up spending more..

really the difference in choices between the i7 and the phenom II have more to do with what the systems going to be used for and thats what makes up the 100 dollar difference.. in the end its all personal preference..

amd's usually pretty good with pricing to compete.. good example was the AMD/ATI 4890.. nvidia announced the gtx 275 at 249 dollars which was what AMD/ATI was going to release the 4890 for.. so instead they tacked on a 20 dollar rebate the day it was released.. there should be a bigger performance difference with the 955 though.. especially with the 4ghz HT.. not to mention being able to do 4ghz on air.. should easily compete with the q9770 especially on price..

believe me, I'm pulling for AMD. My previous rig was a 9950 setup which I then passed off to my g/f. I'm really kinda hoping to put another one together later this year when Win7 comes out and have that box be an AMD rig (and then give my g/f this one). I know it will likely be a downgrade clock for clock, if i can justify the cost savings into possibly upgrading to a CFX set up or maybe even SSD's, I'm going to do it. Plus, I'm a stock holder...so I feel like I'm kinda sending the moeny back my way anyway...however Infinitesimal it is :p

I too am waiting for the 945/955 Phenom II processors to be released. Can't wait to see how well they perform and overclock. I wish they would release the RD890 chipset at the same time as well but I guess I can use the AM3 790FX chipset for now.

Yea, the new chipset woudl be nice, but kind of confusing as to when the release date is. I've seen updates posted on some websites in the last month saying late Q2 (i.e. in the next 3 months), and then others stating it's delayed until Q4.
