Lots changed since these were taken, need to take some better shots...

1st, my gfs RF. Back in page 5 or so you might of remembered her sleeving in hot UV pink and the window. She replaced the stock LEDS with PINK led's from a local radio shack and wired them up herself as well. Well, the mATX is out and now 680i SLi board, 8800gts, and e6750 @ 3.6 w/ 4gb and vista 64x is her new workhorse which she loves building awesome houses in Sims2.

She sleeved all cables herself, and custom alternating pink/black for the 24pin. She made the bows and hotglued them in different places etc. She even did most of the work on the sidewindow.

And with the side put on...in the dark the pink really pops. (Tinted window + 2 uv cathodes and lots of UV pink cables)

Now for my RF, which is my server.

Specs-
e8400 Duo @ 4.0ghz
4gb Fatality DDR2
2.5tb HDD space
eVga 260 core 216
Asus Maximus II Formula
TaGan 800watt PSU
2 DVDRWS stealthed
Nexus FCont. (now stealthed, no pics though yet)
Media Reader
Vista 64x
Fully powder coated black chassis
Bulgin Vandal white ring power switch
HD light with chrome LED housing and white LED
Spent a long time sleeving, extending and tapping replaced most all screws with hexcap screws

Anyways enjoy and comments/dislikes/better ideas are welcome.

Hey, Indy, I have that same fan controller. Hard to find but worth every penny. Absolutely love it.

Nice work, all you newer posters! Isn't this case a joy?? I want another one for 50 bucks ....:p

nice mods. looks very nice. i also have an a05b and a rocketfish :D

do you know the name/model number of that fan/hdd drive combo in the 5.25 drive bay?

thanks

I love everything about this case except where the PSU is located. It looks very difficult for cable management.

blah, blah, blah

You know, I'm all for being anal and hiding wires and such, but the main point is that you want to have a clear path for air to enter and exit your case while extracting as much heat as possible from the components. Your setup looks to have all the wires pushed back against the rear wall so any changes would be purely cosmetic...in a windowless case.

Long story short, good job with what you have, don't worry about what you don't - looks damn sex to me.

huh??? where else can i put the wires?

THB I don't know how exactly the case is laid out but is there room behind the MB tray?? If so you can cut holes and route around and through those or maybe just consolidate 'strands' of wires (if that makes sense) for a cleaner look. Some folks out there are REAL creative and find ways to hide wires that is just impressive.

yes some people do...but as far as mine goes....it gets the job done..temps are good.

Wow, that is some awesome cable management skills! Very nice:p, especially with that much hard drives:D

haha, I think we're both on the same page here, the 'blah blah blah' was just a bit instagatory when it wasn't meant to be. Great looking rig and like I said, I'm sure the temps are exactly as good as a sterile clean rig.

@skyline, wow.

nice wiring antok! helped my brother do something really similar. Got it powdercoated. Freaking fingerprints!

but alas the case was just too big for him in the end! He would lust for my a05b until he couldnt take it anymore. LOL at the size difference.

Thanks for the compliments guys! I know the parts aren't exactly cutting edge by any standards but it does what I need it to do. There're still a few things I want to do the LianFish but overall I'm pretty happy with the way it came out.

@Haadij404-That mirror powdercoat is pretty cool. Did you have to completely dismantle the case to get it done? I wanted to powdercoat my case but I'm not really motivated to strip down every piece of the case.

Thought I posted mine in here but guess not. Here it is:

What exactly did you do to the Hard Drive bays? It looks like you rotated them 180*, and separated them a bit to allow for the fan between them. Did you re-drill or rivet them back down?

Also, I know it isn't in yours, but more of a general question...what do you guys use for the black molding around the holes you cut out?

If you flip them you must redrill holes on the bottom of the case. While you're at it might as well separate them for a space for a 120mm fan. I am only using one of the caddies though so i didn't have to go that far.

As for the black edging, you can find it at most mod shops. C strip, or U channel. Also you might find it at an auto store, they sell it as door trim.

Hope this helps

Nate

will someone please post a detail pic of the spring-ball door close mechanism... i took mine apart and I can't figure out their reattachment ordinations.

thanks!

How are these cases for water cooling? I see rads mounted at the top as well as on rails. Which works better?

I know it was available for much less once upon a time, but it seems the going rate for a new one is around $100. Is it still worth at least that much?

yes it is worth that much.... it's a real lian li case

i paid 60 for mine and others paid as low as 45...

you can put up to a 4x120mm rad in the top

there's no need for a grill on the rear fan, its just impeding your exhaust.

Unless you have kids or pets that can be harmed i agree, high speed fans can cause a lot of damage to fingers or other body parts without fan grilles though also blades can become brittle over time and break off more easily.

Those wire grilles hardly restrict any airflow but the aluminum one that comes with the Rocketfish is another story.

WHO STILL SELLS THESE CASES??????

they were sold as rebrands under the label RocketFish but were produced by Lian Li ... They are no longer in production or for sale at any retail location that I know of.

You can sometimes find them on ebay or in For Sale forums on popular computer enthusiast websites such as this one.
