I just checked, AT&T Wireless has a 35% cashback via live.com
So if you want a brand new 16gb it only comes out to $200.00 or a refurbed for $130...
I purchased mine when it was 25%, now I feel bad...

If there wasn't a contract or the fact I would have to use AT&T, this would be hot, since it works with T-Mobile.

Sadly this deal is cold.

hopefully the cashback is still here when the Touch Pro 2 comes out...always wanted two phones to swap between whenever i feel like it :p

With ATT.... :(

Right... I have heard so many stories about people getting totally screwed over on huge cell bills at ATT... my wife included...they added a data component to my wife's cell account without her knowing, then let it rack up to $700 and said they were going to cancel her account if she didn't pay.. they said it was billed at $1 per minute. what kind of shit is that? they are freakin' evil!

What stops people from buying the phone with the 2 year agreement at $200, then cancelling the agreement immediately for around $200, then selling the phone on ebay for $600? (I don't know AT&T's early cancellation fee, so this may not work.)

The deal may not be so sweet if this effects your credit though, I have no clue whether it does or not.

ripoff

just can get itouch for $180, its the same thing as the iphone just no phone/camera.

if you work as a nurse or doctor you cant use the iphone at work anyways due to HIPPA, but you can use the itouch.

Why do so many people call the iPod Touch and iTouch?

whats so bad about att? We used to have verizon then we got att so i could get iphone and everyone likes it better. Have yet to have a bad experience.

BS, tmobile already has plenty of G3 networks around the US. with the launch of G1 phone. check your facts

i believe they run at different 3G bands, so yes, you can only use an iPhone on T-Mobile with EDGE

This, Switched from T-Mobile to AT&T, a little bit more expensive by $5 compared to T-Mobile, but in my area AT&T has better reception and 3G speeds. Plus at the time I was signing up AT&T had much much better phones and T-Mobile. Now they still have a wider variety of smart phones, and PDAs like my HTC Fuze!

dont say this deal sucks if you don't like AT&T. They treat me just fine, i have had two iPhones with them and couldn't be happier. this is HOT if someone is looking for a great phone with 100 bucks off! and a good provider, everywhere i go in Michigan and Chicago and PA traveling i get 3G...........

Best Buy also has a deal this week only...

Premium Silver member Reward zone:
$199 with 2 year contract for 16gb
$99 with 2 year contraction for 8gb

Standard Reward zone:
$249 with 2 year contract for 16gb
$149 with 2 year contraction for 8gb

I got my iPhone on Sunday, to find the email from Best Buy Monday morning.

ATT is horrible... I cannot wait until our contract is up

same here, i've come close to cancelling so many times, but the fact that I have 2 lines stuck to their crap sucks(175 to cancel per line, never goes down, they magically adopted the "gracious" $5 a month deduction per month, the month after I got into the contract). I like many was suckered in with the phone, let me tell you, i've had nothing but trouble with att, dropped calls, bad signal everywhere, unless im magically at an ATT store, or somewhere im not going to make a call anyway, signal fades quickly in my house, and I like how they emailed me how they've added more antennas in my area, YEA RIGHT. As far as the iphone goes, I like it. especially since ive jailbroken mine, so many great apps out there. anyway, im rambling now. BEFORE YOU SIGN UP FOR THIS "DEAL" ASK YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHAT CARRIER THEY USE AND HOW THE SIGNAL IS IN THE AREA FIRST, DON'T LET THE SHINY APPLE GLOSS MAKE YOU COMPROMISE. ATT IS EXPENSIVE.

Am I one of the few people who LIKES ATT? I haven't had a problem. Had my Blackjack for almost 2 years and had excellent coverage with no dropped calls. Just signed again on Sunday for a 2 year contract with an iPhone. I know a lot of people with ATT that love it.

It's the best carrier I've ever been with.

As other have said, the 3g wavelengths that ATT and T-Mobile use are different. Watch your emotions before you post. I seriously don't appreciate the whole BS thing, especially when I own a G1.

That's great that you've had a good experience with ATT. Many of my friends have good experiences with them, that is until they have to call customer service. ATT customer service hires some of the most rude and uninformed people around. I know, I've had to call them on behalf of my friends a number of times. So, if you don't have any problems with them, everything is golden. But as soon as something bad happens, it's a long, uphill battle to get what you deserve. On the other hand, T-Mobile has some of the BEST customer service I've ever seen. They had no problems coming to agreements and giving me what I wanted when I had a major issue with my G1 and business plan conflicting with each other. Sure, I had to still call a bunch of times, but every time I called, it was pleasant, informative, and most of all, they were willing to work with me (ie: give me a month of free text messaging since there was a conflict with the G1 and business plan that I previously had).

Anyway, just my $0.02 :p

Around here in Boulder,co ATT's reception is very spotty on my friend's 3G iPhone. I don't have issues with my 2G iPhone but I'm running it on tMobile. :)

Carriers really tend to vary by area. I've been using T-Mobile for years and while I was generally happy with them (even while using a 2G iPhone), but thanks to their slow 3G rollout, I switched to ATT. Granted I've never had to call T-Mobile for anything but when I switched to ATT I had to call them a few times for various reasons. I don't know if it's the fact that I'm a business customer or what but everyone I've talked to was extremely helpful.

If I still lived in Dallas though, I'd probably go back to T-Mobile since they actually have 3G there apparently.

x2

My family has had ATT/Cingular for the past nine years and we've never had any problems with them. Cell reception is great in Hawai'i, as well as wherever we go on the west coast. I get maybe one or two dropped calls in a time span of about 3-5 months. The only time I've had an issue with coverage was when ATT's network dropped out for about half a day this past January. My T-Mobile on the other hand drops calls at least every other day or gives me a busy signal/network failure at least once a week. Reception is also terrible wherever I go. My friends in NYC and NE have the same problem with poor reception and dropped calls. I'd have ditched T-Mobile long ago but my gf's father is dead set on them sticking with T-Mobile.

Over here on the eastern side, ATT is probably one of the better cell providers. TMobile sucks over here though. I hear Verizon is decent. But AT&T seems dominant, and they havne't screwed us over.

By the way, if you run into any problems, you should probably tell them to disallow you stuff that you might do by accident.

I believe it all depends on where you are. I am on the edge of the east coast and have zero problems with my T-Mobile.

i believe 3g for tmobile is 1700mhz and att has 1600/1800mhz so no you cant use the 3g aspect of each porovider on teh other providers network. YOu would only be allowed to use edge.

I have had t-mobile for years in Chicago (since 2000?) No problems at all.

I live in portland and I have both AT&T and Verizon...around town AT&T always full bars but at home it's the same. I had only good experiences with AT&T customer service...Anyhow I posted this thread so people can get cheap iphones.

I assume Oregon...and a note of my experience. I have full bars, yet I still get dropped or distorted calls all the time. The call will go fuzzy all of a sudden, yet the signal still shows it as being great. I will not be renewing with AT&T when my contract's up.

I love AT&T and i also love the 25% discount on service i get being a Pepsi Employee ;)

I'd like to have a link to your HIPPA facts. I know several nurses and doctors that have them and as long as they're not in use during your shift, there's no problem.

yes please provide the facts as webmd has also made a tool available to doctors which lets them see xrays of patients, and the doctors we work with have them as well.
