Ok so we have this only windows 98 machine at work that is only used for hyper terminal into this stupid air condition system. Basically it allows our maintenance person to log in and setup ac schedules.

Is there a way i could turn this computer into a hyperterminal type server and have a client app on his office computer so he can do it from there ? Or is there any way i could add a hyper terminal device to the network ?

Dont know if this is even possible

Thanks

Where would i get this? Also does that mean it would be more like remote desktop? Or can i still get the standard hyperterminal look he is use to

if he will be accessing it from the local LAN, I would just get a VNC program. RealVNC/TightVNC/etc.

free, and would give your maintenance person remote desktop ability.

Currently when he comes in he just clicks on the hyper terminal desktop shortcut is there anyway i could make this avaliable on his computer ?

yes, something to this effect would work. I can't vouch for this particular product, but it's a product of the type that you want (console/terminal server). We use Lantronix SecureLinx devices for our enterprise, but we have a lot of devices connected to it. For what you want, I'd use either what you posted or something similar.

edit: it's important to note that you don't want a KVM, since this is a serial connection that he uses. By getting one of these devices, you can essentially eliminate that win98 box altogether.
