Hey a little bird dropped off a am3 945, however I have not used amd stuff since s939. I was wondering which board I would need to test this out.

Here is a pic of it. let me know if you need any other angle. Someone tell me if I am full of it.

sweet and its cheap too. I tried it on a biostar ta690g board but it did not post. I wish I had better amd stuff right now.

a lot of boards that are am2+ now have bios updates for am3.. my biostar 780g does.... and im pretty sure more and more are starting to update their bios to support them.. just check the manufactures support page before you buy one..

Well, I can't speek for others but this is what I'm running...

Foxconn A7DA-S
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186150

And a BIOS for AM3 support has just been released...
http://www.foxconnchannel.com/en-us/support/downloads.aspx?ProductModel=A7DA-S&TypeID=en-us0000003

Obviously, this is with DDR2 memory as DDR3 memory boards
aren't out yet...

Most manufacturers are releasing AM3 BIOS for many of their
currant MB's...

Most (if not all) of these boards should have AM3 BIOS by now... ;)

cool, I will have to give one a try and see if I can post benchmarks tomorrow.

on a side note, my 690g board does not seem to work anymore.

will these boards take the 945...I am guessing my poor 690g board would not...RIP

how is the asus, M3A32-MVP a buddy of mine said he would hook me up with one tonight so I can run some benchies

What the hell? Excellent! :) Hope you can post some results!

[edit]

Wait, I best not get my hopes up in case you're BSing! :(

I hope I am not bsing you. to tell you the truth I don't even know how to read the cpu name off the top of the chip

wait WHAT am3 945 i know the 940 review samples were sent out though i demand detailed pic's of the chip and screen shots and for that chip make sure you get a 790fx/gx with a sb750!! and if it is who do i kill to get on the little birds list!!

How 'bout you just post all the info you read on the
top of that chip in this forum...?

Or better yet, post a clear pic... ;)

Curious... Why would someone unfamiliar with recent
AMD tech be given an "Unreleased" chip in the first place...?

AM3s aren't going to be seen in wild for a couple of months, at least. The board manufacturers haven't announced any AM3 boards and until they do, AMD isn't going to be in any hurry to activate the DDR3 portion of the IMC.......somebody's BSing!:D

wachu talking about willis? they are due for release any moment and i am sure AMD has good stock to sell in the beginning and they in a week or two they will start pouring like hotcakes. months? doubt it

Phenom II X4 925 will launch in February at 2.8GHz, as the fastest AM3,
DDR3 enabled CPU. The fastest one, dubbed Phenom II X4 945, will
launch at some point in Q2 2009
.

That means AM3 945 will launch sometime in April, May or June...

AM2+ 940 should launch by Jan. 8th 2009...

The OP claims to have an AM3 945...

I want to see pic's... ;)

Wow...I normally expect this on XS, but not on [H].

I'd say the normal "pics or shens" line...but if it's real the pics would speak for themselves.

The am2+ boards support am3, just needs a bios update in most cases.

Give me 20 min to get some pics of the chip up. still trying to find a used mobo for the cpu though.

Score!, I say screw messing around with a used board. Grab a fast little mobo with the sb750, some DDR2 1066, and let her rip!

Good luck! Hope its nice and fast! :D

Get a ASUS 78-T or a 79-T ,, i have the 79-T and run insane voltages 24/7.. the Mobo is more than capable ATm its one of the Best for ANY Phenom. Im using a 9950 @ 3550mhz with 2630nb/2630HT..

The 45nm 920/940/945 will run huge circle around my 9950 even while clocked to 3.6ghz.

Best High CPU clock with insane HT/NB:D Cant go wrong with this Mobo and Phenom on 602bios.

HIGH_HT2670_NB2670_3604mhz.jpg

Ganged performance with stock Ram [email protected] insane HT/NB
HIGH_HT2630_NB2630_3550mhz.jpg

Unganged 4-4-4-15 @ 3.55ghz insane HT/NB
LowLatencyUnganged.jpg

Fast Unganged performance with 4-4-4-15 timing ,, Everythings stayed the same Oc wise i just tighned ram and used Unganged.. In unganged its eaier to run lower Cas vs Ganged and will result in the same or better than Ganged speed ATM. Ive been testing this Mobo for a while now. Ic an go as high as 294httt stable with Phenom. also does 2680ht if your chips up to it:D

Note:
the above 9950 is a 140watt 0820 xxxx;)

The ASUS M3A79-T one of the best and its proven for high Votage using stock Heatpipe for HT/NBchipset. I run Vdd @ 1.28v with 1.68vcpu = 1.73volts,, [email protected] = 1.7volts HT is @ 1.36v and CorePcie @ 1.34v helps for Ram stability and tighter timing by raising CoerPci-e to 1.34v..

Even The Gigabyte version with newest Bios will allow 1.9volts for uber Phen tweaking..

looks like I got a msi 790fx board, not sure if it is decent, but its the only resonably price mobo kicking around

did they have phenom II with a manufacturing date 25 week of 2008? cpu on the right doesn't look like one to me

Table21, how about some Super PI 1M & CPU-Z screenies? also a note pad that says Table21 would be cool.

that super Pi is disappointing oh well... 21sec on a 3.55Ghz CPU thats just sad

crysis cpu benchmarks, 3dmark benchies, PI times, overclocking, etc

There are some pi benches on the full thread over at overclock.net Its on page 6.

Scores 19-ish at 3.8Ghz not bad for a ES chip, and AMD doesn't do the greatest at Pi. Take a look through the thread on the other site, he's running a SB600 board with an old Bios and is just now patching a fresh vista install. With any luck he'll get a hold of the beta bios and post results with that.
